Back when my line of work was a lot more journalist-y I’d do a lot of interviews with Executive Producers, Senior Marketing Vice Presidents and all other manner of other glorified mouth-pieces for the big publishers. Whenever they brought out the old “of course, we’re doing this for the community – they’re who matter!” line I’d start to roll my eyes. I wouldn’t stop rolling them until I’d asked my killer ‘DLC plans?’ question.

I don’t want to be like that guy – the guy who talks about the value of a game’s community without once visiting it, and praises it as a part of some bullshit boardroom checklist.

Without Project Zomboid’s community (without you - the person reading this – whether you’re a lurker or a regular) times could’ve been so much darker. We owe you a ‘thank you’ so massive it’s almost impossible to deliver. Your testing, your enthusiasm, your friendship, your shared passion for the game… it means more than I can convey in a simple forum post.

I’m not going to whitewash the bad stuff. Two years ago TIS self-inflicted some wounds from which it took an age to recover and gave ruffians ample room to play, and I know that the fabled ‘winter of no content’ was tough on us all. (I don’t think we ever answered the question of what constitutes a ‘white knight’ and what constitutes a ‘troll’, but we certainly seemed to get closer to the answer than most…)

So, before the Steam Early Access launch potentially stirs things up, I wanted to say thank you. To our moderators, to our regulars, to our lurkers, to our critics, to our fans, to those who dip in and out… everyone. Thanks for giving a shit about our zombie game.

Speaking on behalf of all of the Indie Stone, all of our contributors and anyone else who’ve found themselves strapped onto this rollercoaster for the past couple of years – it wouldn’t have been the same without you, and it’s entirely possible that it couldn’t have happened at all.

We’re really appreciative, and we’ll always do our best to do right by you – however we can.

You started this. You incubated the PZ infection.  You'll forever have our thanks.

    LOVE Y'ALL

This is terrible but every time I find a lady zombie in a laundry room I always think "she died doing what she loved." First time I made that joke my brother and I laughed for a solid five minutes.

yeah dont really have a problem with any of the things you listed

for me the most annoying and unrealistic thing is the rarity of certain extremely common items

in general I'd say 90% of all homes should have cooking pot, frying pan, atleast 1 kitchen knife and atleast 2-3 days of food in them

I'd go even farther and say 1/2 of all homes have a screwdriver or 2 and a hammer of some kind (they should probably add some form of "small  hammer" with extremely limited durability)

and if a person is spending money to have a shed, chances are it will have a good variety of tools in it, again, nothing quite so annoying as searching your 5th shed in search of nails a hammer or a saw only to find thread, needles and duck tape for the 5th time

one of the single most annoying things to me in this game is when you first start and go days without finding a single weighted object to use as a weapon...   i should never be able to search every house on a city block and not come away with several frying pans and kitchen knives at the very least.   too often when trying to start a new game I die on day 2 because I have yet to find anything besides forks and my bare hands

in my opinion a new class of these common household items needs to be created, "cheap screwdriver, small hammer, steak knife, etc..."   with far less durability than the current versions, and then these need to populate houses much more commonly...   so every house on the city block has pots and pans and knives, etc...  but only one of those houses has a good quality cleaver or butchers knife, and only one other has has a shed with a real craftsmans hammer  and nails and a saw, etc...

A spade is different from a shovel though (at least here in germany). Spades usually have flat tips on their blades, whereas shovels have a more pointy blade.

Some pretty good stories there guys. Funny shit. I'm sure as i survive longer (hopefully) the loss of dignity will become increased. Hopefully at that point, i will have found some trousers.

Taking a rotten zombie's pants on the spot because you have such a decadent sense of fashion you absolutely have to wear that color.

At the moment I don't think this mod's working correctly. As has been mentioned it creates a winter environment no matter which month of the year it is. That could be fine though if you just set your game to start in a month where it snows though. I don't know about the rest of the features though, ie whether damage is added over time or flora grows, as I haven't had the mod installed long enough for these to take effect because that bug.

I agree - slipping and falling should be a risk in the game.

The likelihood should be dictated by things such as:

    Brightness of environment,
    fatigue,
    weight load,
    athleticism/agility,
    ground type,
    raining?
    etc.

So, if you're an exhausted, overweight person carrying 150 pounds of supplies trying to sprint through the forest at night in the rain - I'd be surprised if you didn't slip and fall.  I think it would serve well as an incentive for stealthy, well thought-out approaches and escapes.
