I like the idea of a workbench, you know it contains your tools and you can just do all your work at it, manual sawing/screwing/hammering etc. I was gona create a mod for that.

As sfy says, some things are either a possibility, or a dead straight no. But if you want to be able to craft bullets have a look at my Resident Evil mod as I created just that, gunpowder + reloading tool to make ammo.

Nomadic. Different than most people barricading themselves up in a house. Could work.

I agree that sleeping bags would be better than tents indoors, but I'm not sure if the devs are going to make sleeping bags as tents serve sort of the same purpose, just look different.

I think that a pickaxe would make a pretty sweet weapon, and could used for some sort of excavation / terraforming (we'll have to wait until 3D terrain for that I'd think). And yeah, I don't think a pickaxe in any school in the US for student use would be legal (maybe somewhere really loose on the rules, but nowhere that I've seen personally).

How I would like to survive a Z.A (in game and in the unlikely event of real life is)  is mainly camping in the woods or mountains (I have experience in outdoor survival) and staying overnight in country houses and cabins, I would never really like to be permanently settled anywhere, I'm more of the guy who would always be on the move,

For the sleeping bag thing, I would better like them than tents because, I don't know, indoors, sleeping bags just seem better. Plus they could also act for other purposes.
3.A pickaxe would be a cool weapon, also they could be used to split logs I guess, and to dig, when I was in secondary school (not to long ago) they had a pickaxe in the storage shed that students over the age of 15-16 would use to keep the school grounds level and tidy (under the supervision of teachers) Don't know if it would be legal to have a pickaxe in a school in the US though

Right, to start I'm guessing you want something of a more indoorsy, safer way to survive the apocalypse.

That being said, there are craftable campfire kits in the game (I have no idea if they'll play nice indoors or if the house will burst into flames), you can also create a tent, and with a filled sandbag place it indoors. (I believe you spill out the sandbag inside, then you can place the tent on that tile that is now sand/dirt). The Campfire, whether indoors or out acts as a sort of stove; you can cook on it, but it requires fuel. (Actually you depend on it to cook late game once the power shuts out.) I like the idea of an indoor fireplace (not as unpredictable as the campfire), something actually built into the house that provides light and warmth once the power is out. Sleeping bags would be cool, but the tent kind of covers that. A campfire and tent kind of cover camping as it is for now. What use function would the pickaxe serve? As a weapon? A utility? Both? MREs and more reliable portable cooking surfaces would be an interesting update.

You have some good ideas here, just be sure you know what's ingame already and flesh out your new ideas some more.

I LOVE the new steam cards that came out recently for PZ so I took the liberty of posting the full resolution card pictures all in one place (*Spiffo Tips of Survival)

Nu uh. Zombies are 100% server side. People with a large ping do NOT have an advantage.

The main problem is the grabbing mechanic doesn't work in MP yet, and zombie vision doesn't work right yet. This will be fixed. There are other tweaks or optimizations we can make to make it closer to SP. Have faith.

That's a pretty outstanding fortress there. I've just started a new MP world and we've barely got sheets up over the windows on that place so far. Hopefully we'll find nails and an axe to start bulking it up (maybe not to that scale).

Anvilman6 reacted to Kolourblynd in Replacement/Addition to Alarm System - Noise during Looting
So while playing I noticed that, when the power is off for the city, the buildings are still alarmed and go off, something a lot of people believe is taking away from the immersion of the atmosphere. During my contemptations about how to deal with this, and messing with my skills at the time, I came up with an idea that makes sense, especially for the long run for gameplay and possibly for MP as well.

Instead of relying on alarms alone for an audio cue for zeds to swarm a location, put a small change to cause a more subtle "looting alarm" for players looking through loot locations. It could be a sound cue that plays and attracts zeds to the loot location similar to alarms, but has a smaller radius and could be linked to a skill, particularly Nimble or Stealth, so that the audio cue goes from something like a shelf falling at level 0 to a small box or can falling over at level 5, with changing radius of effect for each.

I imagine that, with the large majority of locations you can loot, the chances for this "alarm" to be caused would be fairly small, something like 1 in every 250 locations or something, and maybe depending on the loot location, such as small shelfs over appliances, there could be a higher chance for "failure," causing the player to act quickly and stay on his/her toes. Not to completely remove alarms from the end of the game, as generators are planned for implementation, so they could theoretically be powered by "invisible generators" we just don't see yet, but I think this addition could really help immerse the player more than the usual alarm.

    Hello PZ community!
Have enough with those nasty fire that burn down everything just because we forget to turn off ovens? That's why we need this "weapon"...

    Fire extinguisher

A common fire protection device that can be found in stores, schools and hotels. Pretty useful in wipping out fire......and zombies!
This weapon have two states: full and empty.

    Fire extinguisher (full)
Once equipped as primary, we can just aim it like a gun, click and hold to discharge agents. The content left will be shown as it's durability. The agents released can, of course, putting out fire or create smog to block enemys' vision when you're in trouble. However, it will make some noise, deals no damage and can't be refilled.

    Fire extinguisher (empty)
Once depleted, the empty vessel can be swang like a blunt weapon. We can either smash zombie skulls or ram the doors open just like a sledgehammer. It does have limit durability and short reach though.
(Noted that we can't swing an extinguisher without depleting it. Part of it because it's hard to code and part of it because in real life, we may mess up the formula inside and cause it explode...)

    What do you think?
