Why doesn't PZ go by Eastern Daylight Time?

Whatever time the in-game clock is set to is really weird.

23:40? Wtf is that?

It's confusing as hell and I can't really tell for certain what time it is.

I'd think since this game is based in the U.S. that it would go by U.S. time.

The 24 hour time system is in use across the world, including frequently in the US by certain government branches. There is nothing "fake" or "fantasy" about this, and it's preschool math to figure out even if you can't wrap your mind around how it works.

It doesn't matter if it's used "around the world" the game is set in Kentucky, United States.

What is a "Real American time system"?

You know PST, EST, PDT, CDT, EDT, MST.

You use these initials, but somehow I don't think you know what they mean. :-|

That's not being lovely.

Kentucky is in this world, just letting you know.

That's great but we don't use that weird time system.

It just takes some getting used to. And the 24-hour clock is really common around the world.

Hell, it's common in the US, too . .  Often refereed to as military time.

Funny, you mean that place located by a large military base?

Since the clock is not meant to represent any IN GAME concept (it's for the player, not the character) it doesn't matter whether this is Kentucky or Nova Scotia. The devs chose the 24 hour system because it's in wide use that everyone can understand, and because in a game where you can't see the sun it's important to have an accurate representative of the time.

There are 24 hours in the day.

So the clock goes from 00:00 to 24:00

The problem doesn't lie in there being 24 hours in the day.

It lies in that Kentucky goes by the EDT time system not 24 hour clock.

It just takes some getting used to. And the 24-hour clock is really common around the world.

It's fine if that time system is based around the world but Kentucky is in the U.S. and uses the EDT time system.

Are you trying to imply that just because Kentucky has a military base means that everyone there uses military time? Including citizens?

In the 24 hours clock (very common in Europe), consider that when the clock is between 00:00 and 12:00 it refers as the am. When it goes after midday, (13:00,23:40...) it is pm. 23:40 is 11:40pm.

Why? Why does the in-game calendar go by the Gregorian calendar (the one we use in the U.S) and not say... the Chinese calendar? Does it actually matter what time system or calendar is in use in-game? Yes, it does matter. The game is based in Kentucky and everything in-game and lore-wise is base around being in that part of the world.

You do realize a child can grasp this time system and it has no bearing on where the game is located because it's a player-centric not character-centric feature, so this entire conversation is entirely irrelevant... right?
