ctd before main screen

Question

Hey,

I think I'm having the same problem and error code as here on v.2.9.9.19, and found the environment variables list but there's no _JAVA_OPTIONS. This occured after installing the windows 8.1 update and the 2.9.9.19 version of zomboid. I installed both of them one after another so don't know which could be the cause. I reinstalled java and drivers after the windows update and also tried a clean install of PZ.

Sorry for reposting this, but I accidentally put this on an answered thread and I don't think it got noticed because of that.

Environment variables:

The user variables I have are:

AV_APPDATA

TEMP

TMP

and the system ones:

asl.log

ComSpec

FP_NO_HOST_CHECK

NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS

OS

Path

PATHTEXT

PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE

PROCESSOR_IDENTIFIER

PROCESSOR_LEVEL

PROCESSOR_REVISION

PSModulePath

TEMP

TMP

USERNAME

windir

Here's the console just before ctd

ctdatstartup_zpsc00aa99d.png

After this has run, the game immediately crashes.

here's the error log:

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: zombie.gameStates.MainScreenState
    at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)
    at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)
    at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
    at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at com.exe4j.runtime.LauncherEngine.launch(Unknown Source)
    at com.exe4j.runtime.WinLauncher.main(Unknown Source)

And specs:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
RAM:4G
OS:Windows 8.1 PRO, 32bit
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 640

hmm "pixel format not accelerated"

have you tried reinstalling or downloading the latest graphics drivers?

"Pixel format not accelerated indicates that you need to ensure you have a proper display driver installed. Windows 7 (and Steam) often install a generic driver from Microsoft that just doesn't cut it for this game.

Go to the website of your specific video card manufacturer (Nvidia) and download the latest driver for your card directly from them. If you receive any prompts that you need to use a manufacturer-specific driver, well . . . we'll try to work through it by forcing a generic, up to date, driver.

Just be sure to turn  your computer off and back on again after installing the new driver, otherwise you'll get the same error."

@Rath I've tried both compatibility and normal so it's not that.

I'm thinking it's the driver since I noticed that EU4 was giving a gpu memory error which has never happened before...

Anyways thanks for the tips guys! I didn't have time to do it all today but I'll hopefully get back on it tomorrow!

"Failed to find valuemode 1280x1011 fullscreen=true"

seems like your resolution got messed up, try deleting the options.ini or changing to a valid resolution. or disable fullscreen..

options.ini is in your user folder in the zomboid folder
