Ideas for vehicles

So as we all know, the devs are working on vehicles. A friend of mine and me had a discussion about it today and I think we came up with some nice ideas, that could be added to the game.

1st of all we had the idea of a new job, the "Mechanic". This guy could repair the vehicles. With higher skill level he is able to improve his repairing skill, starting of with exchanging flat tires up to maybe even exchanging a motor block.

2nd idea was to tune the vehicle a little bit. Like armouring the car with metal plates or covering the windows with metal grids. A bullbar would be awesome aswell :P

3rd thing we came up with, was a building option for a skilled carpenter. We thought about garages, but the "normal" garage doors we know today may be too complicated. So we came up with normal doors, only bigger. Imagine the doors of barns. If the player wants to protect his car he could build a simple garage and needs to open two doors, when he wants to exit the garage with his car.

I bet we had something else but I am already tired. What do you guys think of it so far? :)

My top picks ...

 

Garbage Truck

Pros: Very well armored. More common than military vehicles. Has the power to push cars, hordes or wreckage out of the way.

Cons: Very loud and big. Uses gas (most of the time). Mostly limited to roads.

 

Golf Cart

Pros: Quieter than an automobile. Rechargeable with solar power.

Cons: Little protection from zeds. Much slower than automobiles.

 

Mountain Bicycle

Pros: Quieter than an automobile. Uses no fuel other than human power. Is small to get in tight places. Can go off road. Can be carried.

Cons: Makes the rider tired. Hard to stop. Easy for zeds to grab you.

 

ATV

Pros: Can go most anywhere. Can be electric. Rider will not get tired like a bike.

Cons: Can be loud. Little protection from zeds. Can be gas. Slower than automobiles.

I like the Idea of amouring vehicles a lot! This immediately remembered me of this beautiful scene ;)

It could be like this:

The more armour/equipment is added to a vehicle, the heavier and slower it gets and therefore the less additional load it might bear.

This was the scene we thought of aswell. Of course a heavy armoured truck like these would be way overpowered. But the "mechanic" class could havefer lots of options for working on vehicles. At least as many like the carpentry skill

Everyone here needs to look at Cataclysm:DDA's vehicle modding system.

Creating a deathmobile lorry is easy when you have a welder and some spiky metal plates and maybe a .50 gun turret XD

And someone with a very very high mechanic skill should be able to install something like dual engines or maybe fabricate their own with enough rare parts :3
