  1. Hey all, I was just wondering if theres any hope of a Mac compatible Map Editor? Im very interested in making new maps for the area where I live but the only issue im running across is that the PZ Map Editor is a windows only program. If PZ is a Mac compatible game, it should only make sense that the Editor should be Mac compatible as well.
  2. Heya, I'm currently in the midst of creating a massive map of the Gold Coast in AU and there are dozens of public pools along with almost every house in most areas containing a private pool, so just wondering if there's any easy way of creating a pool (doesn't have to be usable) in WorldEd/BuildingEd etc.? Thanks in advance guys!
  3. So yeah, I've been trying to do it for 3 days and I don't want this time to get wasted. Here is a guide that will let you set up a private server for your friends within 1-2 hours. INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOST: INSTRUCTIONS FOR CLIENTS: EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: I hope, that I'll help at least one group of friends to play this game. To admins: I will not answer to this thread. I registered just to write this one post and disappear forever. So feel free to edit it. I waive the rights to what I've written above. Peace
  4. Sorry if this is a silly question, but how would one get mods like maps to work on the server? ORGM mod is working, however Immersive Overlays isn't. Do I need to FTP them to the server?

  8. Well sense this is my first post im not sure how all these are done, but simply put. HOW, HOW HOW HOW have people not come up with the idea for multi story houses? For one it would add a new twist to the game itself, large sky scrapers and such. New homes and getting caught up in one, no way you as zombies are coming from above and below. So you have to climb out the window somehow lowering yourself to the ground, or die trying. Something amazing On the PZ website is them adding creative mode, so we as a community would be able to make those large City's we have always wanted. And with this mod we can actually make larger homes, taller, maybe even basements and bunkers? But for the beginning just multi story would be a wonderful start, let me know what you think!
  9. So, I was curious about this and I guess I should start by giving you my own personal experiences. The first time I ever heard about PZ was from Google I believe about I don't know, back in the days of the old graphics, story mode and baldspot back when NPC's were crazy gun toting lunatics in stores waiting for you to step in. I did some research and knew right away *this* was the zombie survival game I had been waiting for. However, what I didn't anticipate was the amount of time that would consume me anxiously anticipating and waiting for NPC's to be released. At that time I didn't realize the passion and heart going into this game and would have never perceived this type of excitement. Now, I admit my opinion on multiplayer was less that flattered at best. However, now that I've had time to grow accustomed to roleplaying servers and the varying degrees of character building that this game allows you to obtain I'm starting to *love* Project Zomboid even more. Also, I hope one day there will be a pure survival version with mods without zombies (as that was originally what I was looking for.) More of a society builder which to be fair PZ kind of is. That leads me to my next point and this one is important. How do *you* view PZ? Is it *just* an amazing zombie game? Because if that's your aspiration then you're seriously missing out. I see *so* much more. I don't even care about the zombies. I care about the humans, how people react in catastrophes. Zombies are just a background and I'll likely lessen them when NPC's come out to get the full entertainment out of the story telling elements. It's a society builder, where NPC's struggle from ashes to grow small settlements and keep them safe using teamwork, dedication and determination. I'm expecting (although, not entitled to.) see NPC's treat me as I'm just another person. To communicate directly and indirectly. To scare and ignore me to varying degrees depending on the situation. Now, all of this leads me to my other point which is this. I expect to be bombarded with moral decisions that don't necessarily have morality in them. For example, when I'm running on a food run and see a group pinned down by a horde of zombies (or hostile faction) the ability to intervene and save those people should bare down on you conscious. But more importantly to make you feel like you *do* have a say in the matter. "Do I want to potentially die saving these poor people." Or "Do I want to play it safe and just pass by unnoticed and not tussle with these here outlaws." (Who talks like that?) At the end of the day I want a meaningful play through that's unique each and every single time I fire up PZ. Anyway, sorry that was longer than you probably expected. Tell me what your opinion is and how you found PZ and what your initial thoughts on it were. If you want tell us what you plan for in the future !
  10. I think the idea of a special blend of zombies, or having the option, would add surprise and jump scares and give all zombies a bit more of a unique personality - even if its randomly generated. Each zombie on the map would have a randomly generated set of variables set to them from the drop-down list when editing zombies. Some will have bloodhound in terms of smell, while others would have normal or very weak smell - others would be fast shambles while a small group could be sprinters. (for lag/management reasons) I believe this would add variety, make scenes and encounters more dramatic, movie-feel, and more surprising as you won't really know WHAT you might encounter other than zombies afoot. I believe this is also easy and quick to implement since it's just randomizing the zombie's stats to create a mixed bag of different "unique" zombies. Tell me whatcha think, or just "like" this post. Even if it doesn't get added, would like to see if the community thinks its a good idea regardless.
  11. Soooo i'm curious about adding new skills. Or better said replace carpentry for more suitable skill like Builder, or Engineer, or... i don't know name that covers all the things player can made by himself... Maybe Handyman? There is a mod, where player can create almost any building that you can see in the city. But i don't really like mods that adding many things in this game, because of so many releases and mod compatibility, even one can be lost in many mods in some future build, where some mods would be added into vanilla. So why not add it into vanilla? I really, REALLY would like to see that player can made things out of metal(no more nails-hungry in survival mode), or making glass windows. And adding feature of making roofs(without making stairs build before, scaffold kit would be needed). And if making glass works are too much, so at last being able to disassemble windows from neibourhood houses and add it into your house/fortress. Oh yes, another idea just now popped out. Disassembling. Wooden walls, doors, floors... and destroying things with sledge into visible rubble, where something usefull can be, if lucky. Another idea is... TIME. And DATE. IRL human can't know, what time and date is now, without watches. I saw digital watches once in great mall, so... Why don't take out time and date from the upper right corner? It will be more realistic. And give watches a purpose. Wearable loot. If char find watches, from that point he can have his upper right corner back. Another thing... different looks of zeds. Bodies. Some skinny, some obese... even char. And more clothing types, like for example raincoats, jackets, necktie, uniforms/overalls...
  12. I don't really know if i did not understand it properly, or it simply don't working. Once i set INFECTION MORTALITY to NEVER, out of curiosity. TRANSMISSION was normal, BLOOD+SALIVA. In my opinion this have to work like you can be infected, but not killed by it. But it was the same story like set to 2-3 days. Once bitten, fever, zombified then death by huge health loss. Everyone noticed this too? Is it bug, glitch, or only misunderstood setting?
  13. Is there anyone in the modding community who knows of a way to create a mod where, if someone dies, they return to the "choose spawn location" screen? The reason behind all of this is because I love Project Zomboid and The Last of Us and a few friends and I would love to see something of a "Supply Run" (TDM w/ ticket system) where it's survivors versus survivors and throw in some zombies in the mix. You would also be able to upgrade your stats, but cannot max anything out farther than 5. Perhaps vitamins could heal you somewhat/give you +1 to all stats. (so they will be scarce) Bandages would heal every wound to keep the pacing going at a decent rate. If someone could do this, or least help, it would be amazing. I would love to have just a 4v4 type thing, not trying to host a 30v30 scenario. Just trying to bring two games I love together for a neat thing.
  14. Two must-have additions, but we can start off with a mod. Is there anyone who would be able to script a pop-up MOTD instead of the standard one in the chat log? No one reads that upon logging in or they skim it for vital information that they typically miss. It'd be neat to have a pop-up message that's either the size of a pop-up when note taking. The only work-around I could feasibly see is adding a note as a starting item with the server rules, pvp rules, etc. for every new person. Or it can work like it does in CSGO, TF2, etc. and pop ups a web browser so it can just show the forums. That would be amazing. Another thing I know we need is a summon command. We already have teleport, so I was scratching my head as to why there wasn't a summon. This would work wonders for events/fixing people who get stuck (this is a common problem with the game on the server I'm on), or simply because it'd be nice to have that feature. Hopefully someone was already thinking something like this. Hope to hear from the community!
  15. Simply put, it would be pretty neat to see more visual weather effects/ambience other than just rain and thunder. I think these would be great and I have complied a list below of the effects. Snow/Blizzard Description: Basically what rain is, except it's white dots of snow falling to the ground. If the weather is more harsh, then a blizzard will occur which will have greater effects on the player. Effects on Player: Same effects already put in when it snows, if a blizzard, the player will feels these effects even more. Visual Effects: White dots of snow, if blizzard, more dense pieces of snow falling. Fog Description: Fog is pretty much what might occur after a thunderstorm/rain, or randomly during the seasons/months. Effects on Player: Reduced sight (Not as bad as night time, but perhaps 15-30% of that) and the chance of slight panic/anxious if your outside for too long. Visual Effects: Transparent grey visual with a slow, creepy animation. Ambience Description: Basically just more ambience to bring the place to life. Perhaps some trees could drop leaves and those said leaves could be seen blowing throughout the city. Some items such as Newspapers, Papers, various garbage, etc. should also blow in the wind. Would be nice to see some of the tall grass have an animation even if it's subtle of some weather occurring. Let's hear some wind blowing if its thunder storming or if it's a bad storm, let's see more visuals of the wind blowing water on the roads (if it isn't too much, if so, its fine.) Effects on Player: A more immersive experience. Visual Effects: Self-explanitory. I believe little touches like this can really give a heartbeat to a beautiful game such as Project Zomboid. Tell me whatcha think!
  16. How is this possible, after IP banning, kicking, closing the server open option to false for a few hours, and banning at least 60 times and trapping him in a brick box (Shoutout to Extended Buildings mod ), killing him over and over again, I log on to see this from a player named "Alice". It's a lot worse around the map, but this is just an example around West Point of what I just woke up to. I'm super stumped on what to do. How are people able to mod stuff this serious for results like this? Is there a lua checker/cheater system? Is it really that easy? I'd like to know some information about it and how they are able to do this because maybe it will help in combating it. Is there a way to clean the map of items or a specific item so I don't have to pick up every item? Or a server reboot option? I'm at a lost. He's also spamming constantly and I can't mute him via chat(?).. Is there a way to disable someone from moving? Like, locking them in a sense? Because then I could just do that and they wouldn't be able to do anything.. Need suggestions from the community. (I know I can just whitelist the server, but I rather not do that, so I'm looking for any other suggestions anyone has on dealing with this kind of issue) *This has been an ongoing battle with this one guy for a few days and I'm so exhausted from dealing with a 6 year old modder who hasn't developed common sense and respect. I need suggestions before I go crazy. Haha. *Someone said I could VAC ban him? Is this game protected by VAC? If so, how do I take the steps to do that?
  17. This is a little game I saw on another forum. I'll go first. You know you play too much PZ when you meet a guy and he asks where you live but you're reluctant to tell him for fear he'll come steal all your sweet lootz and then you realize it's real life and not PZ....
  18. I think having a title by your name would be pretty neat and could change the dynamic if RP's and multiplayer in general ranging from creating groups to being more unique. /settitle text here would be the command. So your name would be for example if you typed: /settitle West Point Survivalist your name would be displayed as: MyName [West Point Survivalist] pretty simple, but effective.
  19. To put it simply, I think it would be neat to toggle the UI + overhead of names with the "V" command like you can already do to turn off UI and on. I also think it would be a nice mod to create: Groups/Parties! Groups can be infinite or a set number. (I recommend 12 since most groups aren't that massive, more personal and closed, and an important part of the game + max players can't go too high on servers or invis. players until a fix.) The roles can be custom or overwrite the names of the default, but the default ranks goes: Leader (1) Coordinator (2) (Mission coordinator, Loot coordinator, etc., basically the Leader's right hand men.) Member (3) So it might look something like this in-game with a UI.. /groupmembers would display either in a UI or text in chat... : Leaders: RichCoconut(occupation) Coordinators: player1(occupation), player2(occupation), player3(occupation), etc Members: player1(occupation), player2(occupation), player3(occupation) - You cannot cause damage to others in your group regardless of PVP... - You all can communicate on a different radio signal for communication (/group say text here for example.) - If there is no Leaders left, either promote a random coordinator, or disband the entire group.. - You get a group message when logged in. - List of groups are saved server-side for obvious reasons. - You can remove yourself from the group by doing /leavegroup group name if you are apart of one, assuming. Commands: - /creategroup group name = Create group, makes you automatically the leader - /addtogroup playername = Add user to the group, they will either be asked or automatically added to the group with a message sent to both players via text to confirm it worked. - /changerank player r=rankname p=position in group = (Leaders ONLY, only affect those listed in group) Would change the rank of the player in the group, since we're using numbers you can make the ranchman whatever you want but the p input is important as 1 = leader status 2 = second tier and 3 = third tier. So, if you wanted to change my rank if I was a member to make me a leader or coordinator it would be the following: /changerank richcoconut r="Awesome Leader" p=1 - /removefromgroup player = (Leaders+Coordinators ONLY, only affect those listed in group) remove a player from the group - /changegroupmsg = (Leaders + Coordinators ONLY) Would change a pre-made message that people can read when they log in IF they as associated with a group. Kind of like a bulletin board info of whats going on in the group, events, plans of moving locations, location of bases, etc. Just about anything. /groupmsg msg = (Leaders + possible Coordinators) Would send a message to those in the server what you want to say, same thing as /servermsg but /groupmsg . /givecoords = (All levels) Simply give the coords of where the player is to the group so its easier to find them. *Subject to edit* Tell me what ya think! !
  20. I suggest baked-in commands below with the description and why they are needed. Most of these are for MP and various other reasons. If any of these ideas are being implemented, ignore said suggestion. Should be admin-level commands. /removecorpses = remove all corpses in the world, this is much needed if you have horde after horde of zombie corpses all throughout the map and city that needs to be cleaned up. /removeblood = remove all blood in the world, this can free up the server resources and will help clean the walls and buildings and roads /muteplayer & /unmuteplayer = It's pretty obvious for this one here. /summonplayers player1, player2, player3, etc. = this would be extremely useful for events. I'm an admin on Zeeks Haven and this would be of great use from events, bringing players near to debug something, bringing all players to the start (for future races?!) etc. it's pretty expansive. It would work as a list and summon 8-10 players per command to not get so crazy. So if you wanted 3 players you separate them with ".". /summonplayers play1, player2, player3 . If you wanted to just summon one, type just one name. /rebootserver = reboot the server. This would clean the map of blood and corpses and spawn zombies. (As they already do now if you manually do it outside of the client for MP) Player commands, unless it'll be displayed on-screen or the such. /worldstatus = would explain the status of the server in terms of years passed, the current year, day, month, and time, the MOTD you get when you log in, and zombies alive and killed on the server. This can be a quick reference for players just jumping in and adds basic lore+gives info of the server itself. It can also tell you if Muld is invaded by an influx of zombies or west point, just the main areas though so for now only WP, Muld, The Mall and Dixie. Different emotes: /cry, /laugh, /sit, /dance, /wavehand I believe different short animations or icons should appear if the player types simple commands such as the ones listed above. Can start out with basic five, this would help RPers and add a bit more immersion and fun into the game I believe. Misc Suggestions but still important The Terminal or console for Mac should open up just like it does for Windows users to. It would be nice for a "Start Server" option to quickly start a server, setting the settings kind of like how Sandbox does with the options. I also think if a player dies in Multiplayer, there should be a list that cross references that character that died so if they attempt reloading on said MP server, it would know that the player died recently and won't allow that save file to load, thus kicking them to the player creation screen. The list would be server-side. Or a much easier fix would make saves server side. The commands for taking someone off the list for bug reasons or just to allow them to reload could be "/removefromdeathlist player name". Tell me what ya think!
  21. To put simply, I think it would be pretty cool to have an acoustic guitar or banjo where if equipped, you can use the numbers 1-6 to play each note. Can start in Standard tuning then add the feature to change the tuning. It would play a sound clip of that note when pressed. Chords can be held with 2 or more buttons. Just a random thought. Add something to do while the night passes by. If a window is open, zombies might be able to hear the said instruments.
  22. I think new weapons should be introduced to the Project Zomboid universe! (I'm sure I'm not the first to say this) I think Antize Weapons and bags Mod is a good start if you guys weren't already working on one, or is there a way to upvote/vote for a mod to be implemented into the core game? I've tested it and it seems fine, and you can tweak the balance of the weapons easily too.
  23. In this thread, I'll post 3D models that I've created that are free to download and use by READ THIS As of March 17th 2015, I have not yet implemented any of these models into the game, be it clothing, weapons or any attachments. The downloads are supplied in case you wish to use them in your own personal projects or if you want to help figure out how to get them working in-game. Thank you. Models are working in-game! I may post a tutorial soon on how to use these models for yourselves, but for now check out Jab's Model Loader and the various other tools available across the forum. Please note that some of these weapons may be out-dated in terms of their position/rotation/scale, so double-check to make sure of this before importing them into the game. Weapons Rolling Pin: Texture Resolution: 32x32 Tri Count: 120 Crowbar: Texture Resolution: 32x32 Tri Count: 92 Hunting Rifle (Kimber Model 84M Classic) Texture Resolution: 32x32 Tri Count: 222 Shotgun Texture Resolution: 32x32 Tri Count: 326 Sawn Shotgun Texture Resolution: 32x32 Tri Count: 326 Franchi SPAS-12 Texture Resolution: 32x32 Tri Count: 496 Rifle Attachments 2x Scope (Trijicon ACOG) Texture Resolution: 32x32 Tri Count: 100 4x Scope (Bushnel AR Optics) Texture Resolution: 32x32 Tri Count: 124 Ammo Strap Texture Resolution: 32x32 Tri Count: 81 Clothing Slouched Beanie Texture Resolution: 64x64 Tri Count: 54 Sunglasses Texture Resolution: 32x32 Tri Count: 26 Hoodie Texture Resolution: 128x128 Tri Count: 369 Cargos Texture Resolution: 128x128 Tri Count: 260 Downloads: Clothing & Weaponry To Do: 8x Scope Varmint Rifle Permissions: Final Words: I'm sure that The Indie Stone will make much better versions of these when they are ready, but for now I feel as though it gives people the option to mess around with the tools that are currently available and hopefully implement these into the game. If there are any issues with the above models to do with placements or sizes, I'd love to know. I'm quite busy with both college and working on icons for 2 members of this community for their respective mods, so I'm unsure as to how frequent updates will be for this, though I will try my best. Feel free to request models, but know that they will likely not be made for a long time, or at all for the reasons stated above. Thanks guys!

  25. The multiplayer is severely broken. Like, really, really broken. With that being said, I understand that I purchased this game with Early Access via Steam and willingly took on the responsibility. However, I don't think the focus should be on adding cars and the such when the MP side of things are so broken that it might ruin the potential of it ever being what it could be down the road. I might have to stop playing all together because it's that bad. With that being said - it has a lot of potential, but some things I thought of, in my opinion, my plant some seeds - who knows. If you are already working on some of these things, great! If not, then I worry a bit. I understand that this was a SP game first and foremost, therefore if the focus isn't going to be on multiplayer in fixing these huge problems within the next few months, then I'd say remove the MP until it can be better focused on altogether because the single player is great! This is from two weeks and almost 100 hours of playing Project Zomboid Multiplayer. (I played the single player like it was going out of style from 2013 and up and love the idea of the multiplayer) 1. Server Side Saving This would fix so many problems it's not even funny. People can easily manipulate the saves therefore, everyday on the server I'm on we're hit by more hackers than actually DDOSing now because people just load their save right back in once they die, or they edit the save file since it's saved on the computer in an easy-to-find location. It doesn't quite make much sense. This would prevent the easy editing and at least make it much, much harder to change things in-game. The server I'm on even checks files for its size to see if its been modified and still to no anvil. 2. Server optimization The netcode could be optimized a lot better than it is, but I'm sure this is already being worked on. 3. Zombie spawn behavior The spawn system for the zombies are a little weird, I think from experience the game checks to see if there isn't anyone in the area and if it isn't then it'll spawn zombies, so the end result is that you have zombies in places nobody will ever visit/or visit often and most of the zombies in the city killed off. Shouldn't it be something along the lines of % based + the activity in the area? I.E. if there's more activity in the city than the highway, then focus on spawning zombies around that area instead of the house by the lake which no one goes to and it ends up lagging the server because of all these zombies. (One time it was so many zombies, they all would lag off my screen when shot, then reappear out of no where and some wouldn't die, but they couldn't do damage to you when I had 67-92 ping) 4. Balance the weapons The weapons are extremely unbalanced in the multiplayer side of things. I'm not exactly sure how the weapons act besides from experience, reading the wiki, and hearing from others but it seems its just single player weapons for multiplayer. 5. Respawn times I had food from the night before, I logged back on the server and one second later it's rotten.. What? I just made it. It shouldn't go by the timer of the server if it's in your bag, each item should just have it's own timer, global protocols don't work for everything. 6. Multiplayer should only allow one file save. I've noticed that people are modifying saves so they can get resources way faster by just making multiple accounts all hacked to max level in different areas gathering different things. Not sure if that's an issue, but - it's happening. I think one save is good enough since it's a hardcore game first off and secondly, it'll probably be a lot more manageable for the server, the dev and the end user. 7. Fires can start but can't be put out without an admin? Fires should be able to be put out with dropping water on the ground at least. Or a fire extinguisher that's located in most stores. What happens is if an admin isn't on, people start fires online and it lags the entire server badly. It's like if one person is lagging, everyone is gonna lag - regardless if they aren't even by the fire itself, they will feel the lag as if they were nearby it for whatever reason. Misc. things Logged in but I'm not logged in.. How does that happen? It should be a checker to see if they haven't moved/said anything/no interaction with anything then they should be kicked after a certain time for inactivity instead of being denied service. Even after kicking the "ghost" of my friend dark nano, he was still unable to come on because it said he was still on the server. I think if you have a backpack on you, you shouldn't need to drag items to your main inventory, the game should just know what items you have and either just do it automatically or just treat it like an extension of the player, which it is, and cut out the dragging of items so much. These are a few of my ideas, regardless of them all I hope that Project Zomboid thrives to become something amazing as it's one of the best Early Access games I've gotten to read about, see videos of, and play myself for me to see that this is a game with a great community and even amazing devs with passion. I just really want the multiplayer to thrive because I believe people come for the single player, and stay for the multiplayer. I'll make another one of these if more ideas come into my head.
