I don't know if this has been suggested before but flammable items on the ground should burn up in fires. Currently items that are on the ground seem to be immune to fire and never get destroyed.

This is a great mod idea and should be implemented in vanilla. Unfortunately it is currently not possible to mod this using the standard modding approach. However, I will be working on implementing the various zombie lore options in a mod very soon. -
