  1. I modified the poll so people can post their opinions about both. I, too, miss the days of zombie cam. Especially when NPC's and online multiplayer arrive, it could be a lot of fun watching the havoc you could potentially cause. As others said above, for the most part it takes a group of zombies to be a real threat. If you're a threat as an individual (except in a very few circumstances) then you aren't playing the zombie right (or it's unbalanced), and that's a problem. Otherwise, you'll need a horde and that takes away from the fun as people don't like relying on the computer to do all the work.
  2. I like this, too. I think the real key is unpredictability. If players are just as unsure as their characters about what is going to happen to them, it encourages them to think more like their characters.
  3. I don't think that's a particularly accurate statement. But no, the rules haven't changed. They were the same on both forums: http://theindiestone.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=553 http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/108-forum-rules/ While we may not always be able to moderate every thread, and sometimes people may indeed post off topic, that's no justification for not following the rules. Be lovely. The moderators are community volunteers who come here on our free time to help out. We do the best we can. If you ever feel your posts are being ignored, feel free to send me a private message, I'd be happy to help you out with whatever you need. In the mean time, please do follow the rules and be friendly and courteous. /soothe
  4. Early game prediction: Enigma is going to get everyone killed and everyone will have to roll new characters.
  5. I used to only do Youtube videos until I realized that Twitch can store old videos as well as stream (for some reason I thought they didn't). Twitch is kind of a pain at the beginning, but once you get everything set up it becomes easy. Twitch is also obviously a bit more computer unfriendly as (depending on your setup) you may need as many as twice the number of programs open (over just recording for Youtube). But if neither of those are an issue for you... I've really liked the experience from Twitch in the past, so overall it gets my recommendation. The only other thing I would mention is that Youtube obviously gets much more exposure (although not necessarily from the gamer crowd). It's easier to get a bigger following on Youtube than it is on Twitch (if that's what you're after). Look forward to seeing where you go with it! Keep us updated!
  6. Ah, I'd thought only the newer ones had been taken down. Now that I take the time to think back, they must have cancelled their Amazon servers all together. Magnum I'm not sure you'll be able to get a 2.5 link- we're asking the community not to post links to the game downloads. Since it's an old download, if someone has a copy of that version and wants to post you a private download of it in a private message that's probably fine, but it can't be in the thread (or anywhere public).
  7. It's also worth noting that many of the old mods haven't been updated for the most current versions of PZ. We don't really handle any of the mods ourselves, they're all done by community volunteers and are maintained by them, too. So for the time being you can access them at the archived forums and in the future the relevant ones will be added here. We've already got a decent handful of the ones that work on the most recent versions.
  8. Roll: 2 As you attempt to rush past the distracted zombies, you distract yourself with giving them zombie lessons. Unfortunately, they take your advice to heart and have now formed a coherent but small horde and they are slowly shuffling into the store. You're standing close to them. Very close. One of them seems interested in the perfume you're wearing. Wait, no, he's trying to bite your neck. Roll: 3 You successfully pick yourself up off of the floor. You also manage to make a fire exit where there wasn't one before. Unfortunately, you get so distracted with trying to perfect Simon Pegg's dashing looks and incredible fake-zombie walk that you forget to go up the fire exit. Roll: 1 You reach down and try to help Mash off the floor. You're slightly terrified by the zombies and are wearing a somewhat scary face. While reaching down, you accidentally poke Mash in the eye. She mistakes you for a zombie and starts swinging her mannequin arm at you. You, of course, defend yourself with yours. Roll: 1 Something makes a terrifying face at you, then you get poked in the eye! "VENGEANCE" you shout loudly, swinging with the nearest object to you... a mannequin arm. You jump into fierce mannequin arm combat with your opponent, and don't even think to realize that zombies don't use mannequin arms as weapons. Roll: 4 Somehow dashingly good looking man explodes into existence in front of Mash and shouts "Kiss me, before it's too late!" You look confused for a moment as you notice that Mash is in fierce but odd combat with someone else at the time. "Oh well" you mutter to yourself, and give her a quick peck on the cheek before disappearing and finding yourself on the waiting list. Binky has conjured a magic fire escape in the back of the room. He's not sure anyone else noticed, as they seem quite busy. The zombies are rapidly invading the room and you all think maybe you should stop rolling crappy numbers and defend yourselves or run. In the mean time, Enigma is about to smooch a zombie and Mash and Terra are locked in fierce combat performing amazing feats of swordsmanship they henceforth thought impossible. Seriously, you guys need to roll some 4's and 5's.
  9. If you mean to the old version of the game, the link may still be up in the old forums. There should be a link to them in one of the pinned posts (I believe by CaptainBinky but I could be wrong).
  10. May I present: l'image de gribouillis, by Artiste de la Extraordinâre, Rathlord!
  11. But this has been gone over so many times. There will never be a cure or a vaccination it goes against the entire fabric of what the game stands for. Unfortunately you seem to be hooked on the idea of "how I want PZ to be" rather than how the developers and the community want it to be. The viewpoints are so disparate, it just isn't going to happen outside of a mod. It's not that I don't think your ideas are clever or that they wouldn't make a fun game, they just wouldn't make Project Zomboid.
  12. The problem that our friend here has helped make clear to me is that (unless you pick hypochondriac) if you've been scratched you know whether you've been infected or not. So yes, it's nice to have that tiny chance, but it doesn't add anything to the "once you've become infected" stage of the game. And what really gets me down (and always have) is the sheer amount of people who just pack their things up, walk out in the street, and commit suicide when they get infected. And for me, personally, I think that's a horrible way to end a game and I don't think anyone really benefits from that. For you, when you do it, it just feels silly and stupid, because no real person would say "Hey I'm infected, I'm going to dance naked in the street while the zombies eat me." While suicide could be an option, it certainly wouldn't be like that and personally I think most people would follow the "I'm fine, I'm not going to get infected" train of thought anyways. But that entire facet of zombie lore is lost with our current system. So, in the oddest way possible, I think that yes there should be a tiny chance of at the least infection not killing you right out, just having many severe effects. I think perhaps it should even be remotely possible in a fraction of a fraction of cases to be nursed back to health with the right care. Just enough of the hypothetical 'carrot' so people don't instantly give up on any sick character.
  13. Can you put the version this works with in the title? I'm assuming this is just 1.5 since you mentioned it (and the crafting bars) but it always helps to have an exact record =P
  14. Banned for having too cool of a profile pic.
  15. We've been around and around on the subject. Like Lemmy said, they're not saying "no criticism" they're saying "make it truly constructive." And saying "the map is bad" like above is just not. And while I agree that they have to live with the bad criticism and likely always will (don't we all) that doesn't necessarily mean accepting it is the right thing to do. I believe in always making a stand for justice whether it's futile or not; maybe that's just me. Edit: And Enigma is right. If people want to discuss the topic further that's fine, but we should likely let the other bits rest. Be glad to banter about it in PM's if anyone feels there's more to be said.
  16. No, no! The kitchen is all that matters!
  17. Would you sell... your kitchen?
  18. Wow I feel silly now that a real artist has stopped by.
  19. Starting without Ace since he's offline and not sure if he legitimately wanted to play. Roll: 4 You successfully push the zombie back, out of the doorway of the shop, but it looks like there's more behind him and he's coming back. Roll: 3 You reach around behind you to grab something, and a mannequin goes flying into your hand. You try to pick it up to defend yourself, and the arm comes off. You are fiercely wielding a mannequin arm. Where did that mannequin come from anyways? Roll: 6 You freeze absolutely perfectly posed like a goth mannequin, but then you have to sneeze. In fact, you have to sneeze badly. You sneeze so hard you fall completely over (trying to stand still) and you send mannequins flying everywhere. The zombie that Enigma has just pushed back looks over at the clatter and fixes his eyes directly on you. Roll: 2 You find the most colorful pair of of underpants in Hot Topic. It's a hot pink thong. Forgetting that men don't fit well into thongs, you try to put it on but just end up in a rather tangled mess on the floor. You feel like the zombies would be rushing you, but they got distracted by the mass of mannequins being pushed around by Mash. You admire her attempt at stealth, though, and think in retrospect you should go with less flashy underpants. Enigma's pushed back zombie has its eyes set on Mash. Several other zombies seem to be heading your way. In the mean time, most (living) humans have either made it out of the mall or succumbed to the living dead. Enigma urges everyone to stick together. Next round, go!
  20. It will have a story though. It's just not a linear one. Even games like "Mass Effect" are linear in the sense that you follow a predetermined plot. With each playthrough of PZ (especially once the NPC's are in) you're going to have a completely unique story that no one else has ever had or will ever had. With the way the NPC's will work, you may have a group of friends with drama, romance, and tension. You will have a 'middle game' where yes, things are hard, but perhaps you're having a good run of things. You've found good friends and you're in as good a place as you can be. But beneath it all the zombies are there, they are the conflict. I don't know why you would say zombies shouldn't be the main conflict in a zombie game. There will be tension with other survivors and possibly the military, but the game is about zombies. That's like saying the conflict in Day of the Dead shouldn't have been zombies. The story will inevitably also have an end. Whether you die alone, bleeding out in the streets or you have a brutal last stand with your closest friends, each ending will be completely unique and utterly special. This game isn't meant to be a game where you are a hero. There is no delaying the infection. The joy of the game, the amazement, is meant to be at the small town small time accomplishments of a survivor no one will ever hear of.
  21. Here's a post from Lemmy101 about how this kind of feedback effects people. It's in response to some other criticism like yours.
  22. I'll be here all week, autographs $ 5 only.
