  1. So far ive tracked down part of this system to linedrawer in debug mode but i cant figure anything out about it. Or i meed to find a way to make an addom that lets you run part of debug mode in mp but id rather Devs just implemented it.
  2. So ive been playing this game for a hot minute and even took the time to help male mods for this game back in 2015-2016 and one of the biggest things that irked me back than and still to this day is the half assed aiming system that just works and just being a compliment. The sad part is they have had better mechanics in the code for years as in 2014. Anyone can see better mechanics if they simply boot up the game in debug mode, pick up a gun and aim it. You will see your firing arc, what your targeting, and an indication of your chance to hit it. While its not perfect its irks me beyond measure all this has been in game for so long and nothing has been done with it. Back in 2015-early 2016 i started a collaboration with modders to try and get this feature out of debug mode and onto mp servers which was met with failure mainly due to lack of information and lack of support from mods and devs. If you want to experience a fraction of what you can do with this feature in debug simply edit a firearms angle to low levels and youll see a straight line that allows you to essentially hit whatever you point at or miss. Gone would be the daya of shooting your friends in mp or shooting every zombie around you besides the ones you want. Pvp and shooting in general would be improved immensely on mp servers as you cpuld actually use rifles and take out targets at range and cover your friends from the rooftops. Itd be the end of random friendly fire incidents and turn a part of the gMes combat thata been so sorely lacking for years into something fun. Almoat every popular server thats still left runs gun mods because people simply enjoy shooting stuff yet the experience is so lackluster without there ever having a reason to be. So far development in this game for the last 3 years has boiled down to copying workshop mods improving them but this feature has been in the game in its code for ages and just needs a little love to actually be good. The features are already there anyone can see them just start your zomboid in debug mode and spawn a weapon. Imagine being able to have a stealth character sneak through wespoint and setup his rifle in an upstairs window to cover his buddies down the road, or being able to sVe your friend or a stranger from a few zombies hes being chased by because you can actually choose what you wanna fire at. Imagine not having to waste tons of ammunition just to clear a doorway of zombies and instead having to kill everything around the door first just to shoot the actual zombies in your way. It adda ao much more to the game and wpuld most likely bring alot of popularity back to zomboid because combat and other features would just be fun rather than this poor excuse weve had to deal with for so long. But the craziest part is its been here the fix has been here for years! Just sitting in the debug file and if anyone with more experience in java and lua can help me get it out and into mod so servers can run it thatd be amazing. Hopefully the devs will catch on amd find their own hidden gem and use it to rehaul the aiming system which is long overdo for a makeover. Heres a link to my old mod that i ended up leaving parts unfinished due to frusturation in my endeavors. The Mosin Nagant should be the main weapon i configured for use in debug mode to showcase the system already ingame by just tweaking its angle value. I recommend running some other mods to boost your aiming to help experiment further

    Death Metal

I just want aiming to be more intuitive. This current point and click mechanic irks me as i wanna select what i shoot. Something like the line that is in the debug console would be amazing(Ya ik the line doesnt work in storied buildings but it was a solid thing before) being able to use that in mp would be so much nicer. Still a cool update.
  4. Issue is just any reading material will remove your unhappiness stress and boredom. So until they balance infinite use books that have -50 to those stats there really isnt a point in having them around.
  5. Happiness does nothing atm to affect you so that would be sorta pointless. Also just reading a book removes every negative stat like that and it is infinite uses.
  6. Could toss pill popper in as well. just need to take vitamins, betablockers, and painkillers
  7. Add the chain smoker trait so you need to keep a pack on you or you will get anxiety/and or panic.
  8. Should be able to make a grill bar over the hobo drum fire and use it as a grill.
  9. Ima take a look at the console and see what triggers when a radio station is picked. it is probaly a =true/=false value to trigger the text along with some other bits and bobs for time.
  10. Use a script that triggers the soundtrack when the script for the text is triggered on that channel. Pretty sure you can just add the mp3s to the list. An example being whenever a zombie sneaks up on you there is a sharo alert sound played which suggests a script that triggers it, so by infering that, you could potentially just use scripts to trigger the music. There is also plenty of classical and old rock music that no longer are bound by copyrights and i would have no issues helping.

    Hydrocraft Mod

Now we just need a mod that plays "Make Da Fire Burn Dem" everytime a fire gets caused. Edit: You also gotta fix being able to eat zombies. A skinned corpse restored 100 hunger and you just need to read a book right after for no penalty. So atm as long as zombies are around you have food forever. And odd meat is useless at -5 hunger and tons of -stats where a fresh corpse is less punishing and you dont even need a book to skin a corpse so anyone can do it.
  12. Really starting to regret not paying attention in fitness wellness back in highschool. But this sort of depth to cooking is what i have been craving.
  13. Cant make everyone happy. Some server admins I was talking with didn't want the complete removal of an entire weapon type. But yes they are much much more rare and I can increase that even more if it doesn't seem rare enough. I also limited the places they can spawn drastically.
  14. Ill throw some of my modding team to look at it. Currently occupied with trying to fix the old aiming system the devs gave up on. Again mods to the rescue, i cant even touch vanilla anymore.Edit: Add me on steam ill give you acess to my private ts where you can talk to some coders.
  15. Are you releasing this alternate variant of the mod publicly yet? This is something I've wanted to do for a very long time but never got around to doing so. Ya its been out and ive ahd a lovely team of coders and testers helping me. Just got a great java scripter on my team to see if we can fix the games old aiming system which never got implemented because the devs abondoned it for a simpler version. just look on the steam workshop unde recents and its ORMntMans real gun mod edit by jether. add me on steam if you want to help test since just a few people cant decide what is truly balanced.
  16. It only requires a single action.. Get it http://www.gunbooks.com/gfx/colt_sa.jpgThat might help if you like a good read. Single action requires the hammer to be reset manual per shot. Does the CSAA not actually need standard single action operation? Was Making a joke refering to the gun ingame only doing one action.
  17. I need a knight in Coded armor to come save me from this coding nightmare. The last step before my glorious mod is finished. Add me on steam or pm me on the forums if you understand the code.
  18. Well i got the angles to where i want them the issue is i want to be able to use the dbug linedrawer in multiplayer. Is there a way to mod this in so a server can use it? I dont want the debug console open but it seems everything in the Debug file all requires each other to work properly and my notepad ++ cant read that code that makes up those files.

    Firearm angle

So everything that dictates the debug console is under project zomboid- zombie-debug and it seems the way they are scripted it needs all 4 files inside it to work and just using notepad plus doesnt let me read what the code is. Well the code is there just not translated. If anyone knows how to keep the linedrawer active id live to know. Because otherwise it isnt viable to use guns with low angles for pin point shooting outside of the debug console and you cant join servers with the debug running. Edit Seems this is all in java not lua
  20. Upload it somewhere and then post it here so we can see. Well my issue is i cant be in debug mode while on a server. And from where the line originates is the players feet and is hard to judge if you dont have the debug console open. Now if i can keep the white line thats all i want and itd make my mod viable for what i want it to do. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=560023706 put the screenshot on my mod page
  21. Jether

    Firearm angle

Ok I got the angle to what I want but since it doesn't correlate well with the mouse position it might be hard for some people to hit anything. Anyway I can keep the white lines enabled without the debug console open? Edit: Seems its linedrawer Class but how can I have that enabled in my normal startup
  22. Im doing work on my mod right now using the debug console I can see all the angle lines and I can do exactly what I was talking about which makes me very happy. Ill post a pic in a sec\ Edit: wont let me post a pic from my library.
  23. The kicking thing seems easier as i knkw some mods admins use to check players files. But I dont know if i have the skill to mod it yet. It honestly should be in the base game but what ya gonna do?
  24. It only requires a single action.. Get it http://www.gunbooks.com/gfx/colt_sa.jpg That might help if you like a good read.
  25. Well, PZ isn't really set up for PvP at all. Guns are the worst offender, while I fully agree that the aiming system needs a full rewrite because it SUCKS (Darkwood has a really good aiming system, it's based on angles too but at the very fking least, they're visible to the player and the longer you aim the more you know what you'll hit) the reloading as-is is completely broken considering it's still for some god forsaken reason not a serverside option and let's stay on this topic in the thread. On the topic of aiming though, God, I really hate to imagine how many rage quits the RNG aiming system will cause when NPCs come into play. I pointed that out in my thread "We need a new aiming system" Again its up to modders to add features that are easily coded. Just like how i wanted radios to play music but i will have to have to make a mod for that. Im getting a bit grumpy lol ill stop. But http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=560023706 Should have the system i was talking about done in a few hours when i get some time to sit down and edit the angles on the firearms. Edit: Read this page http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/17208-firearm-angle/ Lets you see the angles. Double Edit:Shameless pimping of my stuff.
