  1. If someone in the zombie apoc came up to me looking sharp, groomed, and clean as possible, I'd shoot him out of fear.
  2. I tried hacking my game by taking a hatchet to my hard drive and now I can't run the game at all. Very clever anti-hacking measures right there, if I may say so! Good stuff, guys.
  3. I think a semi-auto weapon that isn't the pistol won't really bring much that's new to the table. Pistols are one shot, one kill as it is, with one shot per click. I think bolt-action is the way forward (for balance). Think of holding down CTRL and moving the mouse outside your initial range of vision by a little, and using that to cap other players/NPCs. The 5 round per load, bolt-action, and stripper clips will be a major factor to balancing such a weapon. As cool as going PING is, a Garand (or any other semiauto rifle) is asking to do the same as a boltie but with no meaningful delay between shots.
  4. Mosin Nagant. A 5 round, bolt-action, common as hell, robust, reliable, long-lasting, powerful lance that also functions as a rifle.
  5. so edgie ur like a dodecahedron xDDDDD le lol le epique winne soque maille dique sil vous plait
  6. I really, really, really hate this practise as it can be used for a lot of bad stuff, but remember this: It's not like people are currently reading your private IMs. They don't scour everyone's information in case there's something they could use. They're storing information. Hundreds to millions of snippets of info can apply to one person out of millions to billions of different individuals. They're not gonna look through all your data for shits and giggles and try to "catch" you. If you as an individual are suspected in participating in certain activities and there's a court case about you, they will find your profile and look through it and find that evidence. Nobody's gonna care if you watch weird porn. If nobody else knows, there's no questions about it, and it doesn't rise up in court or something, nobody's gonna find out either. But there is a problem that the NSA can very easily make use of someone's search history in an attempt to embarass someone into silence if they dare choose to criticise their government. Blackmail, if you like.
  7. le trol le so funni xD XDDDD I can't believe that people still go through this kiddy phase. Also greifing =/= trolling
  8. 41. When eating fruit with other people, you notice that only yours seem to have a mysterious lack of seeds inside.
  9. I think playing in an empty dark house does the job. The game brings constant feelings of dread, paranoia, and vulnerability for your character. Then the occasional surprise zombie that makes me jump outta my seat.
  10. Absolutely! Burning the corpses has to be right in there along with cleaning up the blood. I wouldn't be surprised though if that's already on the menu. With respect to getting ill from the corpses...I'm hoping that at the same time you implement that you also implement a counter, such as letting players use improvised 'gas masks' or something to help them avoid the exposure, particularly if they are hauling bodies to some central disposal location. The tissue could work for this. Isn't it so that if you keep a tissue in your secondary slot when you have a cold, it stops you sneezing? It'd make sense that it could also be used for reducing infection chance. But you could "wear" a hospital/dentist face mask without the inconvenience of using your secondary slot. Also what will be done about bloodstains?
  11. Yeah man, like flachzang said it's really simple. At first it's looks like something of a little to-do list but it's a thing you take care of on-the-fly. You don't have to do stuff like farming and rain collection or fort building, you just need to drink water from a sink and eat food from a fridge on occasion. That's the simplest level of taking care of your character.
  12. This would be hilarious in MP. I can imagine having multiple bottles of orange soda, dumping one out, drinking one, and peeing in the empty, repeating til all bottles are filled with pee. Then you can give them to your mates. And then run away outside cackling loudly to yourself only to get ripped apart by zombies.
  13. Pathology - Dissected by Righteousness zombies on the cover zombie vocalist relevant I think
  14. Has anybody had a good run in the game whilst using a "weak" or "feeble" trait? --- A build I like is Night Owl combined with graceful and if possible, athletic. Perfect for the house-hopping nomadic adventurer. Or hypothetically a guy who dedicates himself to doing supply runs with a Big Hiking Bag to aid a team.
  15. I'd love a trolley, but how would it work exactly? It'd have a pretty fat storage space suitable for lots of logs, planks, piles of canned goods, etc. But how would it be moved around? Could its noise level vary? Will the player be able to "sneak" with it as well as "sprint"?
  16. This game is unintentionally hilarious when you're playing with drunk friends.
  17. Oh nice, thanks for that link! I'm downloading it now, I may consider upgrading from the free standard to the $35 pro version nowish, just to take advantage of it. I'll be sure to check out CodeAcademy. And by the wiki, I assume you mean the GameMaker wiki, right? Thanks for the hand. :>
  18. Hello! I love games. I've always wanted to make games, but life as it is doesn't enable me to get a formal education to eventually work with the big boys in the game industry. But I'm perfectly happy with self-studying and getting into the indie scene as that's where my heart lies anyway. My main goal is to work on simple 2D top-down games that take leaves out of the books of Resident Evil, Silent Hill, System Shock 2, Parasite Eve 2, Dino Crisis, Alien Breed, aaand you get the idea. I want to learn coding, and I have a small amount of experience in C# already (learned some in school, self-studied a bit more, haven't touched the subject in a while) and I've followed a lot of Unity tutorials. But I'm honestly not all that great. So I've been looking at GameMaker as well but I do wonder if it's going to be of any real help to my growth as a wannabe developer. I want to become a reasonably decent programmer of 2D games who is capable of delivering but I'm not sure what steps to take. I have a real stiffy for Unity, yet my programming skills are lacking and they need work before I start with Unity2D and I'm not sure what I should do to "get good". Is there anybody here who can give me a little perspective? :>
  19. #44 No zombies depicted, but I hope that the source is obvious. Can we reach 53,594?
  20. It's insane. I've been playing with sprinters a bit more lately, and it's surprisingly survivable. But unlike with shamblers, PZ turns into some kind of stealth game. One time I stockpiled on pistol ammo in my house, but I had to run into my house when one was coming for me. The next thing I know, loads of them were blasting through the windows and I capped their asses as they appeared, falling back up the stairs and into a bedroom where I held them off as they came in in onesies and twosies. I took about 40 of 'em down in total. Come daytime, I marvelled at the mass grave that was the kitchen. I went outside to see how everything was, and it seemed clear. So I went out a little more and sprinters were running a damn marathon down the street. They musta been migrating - I noticed that sprinters sprint to go places regardless of context. Aaand then they all came at me at once and tore me apart on the pavement before I could do anything. A short, yet pretty awesome life. Edit: I think I may try making the zombies superhuman and ultra-OP, but reduce their numbers to a minimum. That might prove interesting.
  21. I think armour options would be great. Like biker's leathers. Has anyone tried to bite through leather? You just can't do it. I think a leather outfit should come with a temperature penalty though and not be 100% foolproof (hands, face etc).
  22. Are the devs rolling around any ideas for defensive structures or cool traps intended to harm/slow/impair zombies as opposed to simple walls and boarded windows/doors?
  23. A reloading press is the key item we'd need. This will have to have the propellant (gunpowder), bullets, brass casings, and primers to go with it. It'd make sense that these items would be either be rare finds or tied to some key locations, but they'd come in much larger quantities than ready-n-complete ammunition which will be what makes reloading valuable. Alternatively, all those items would be consumables (like pill bottles) but your "skill" in this field - which may be just plain old crafting - will determine how much ammo you get from one use. Someone who sucks at crafting would benefit more (or just equally) from finding plain ammo. Someone who has developed skills beforehand will find this wonderful as it nets them more ammo than what they would find in the field. Instead of 4 different items to use, this could be reduced to one item presented as a box of "reloading supplies" which implies that it will contain all the necessary ingredients with it. The same sprite used to represent it could be re-used with different colours to suggest what kind of ammo it will give you. Red for shotgun cartridges, for example.
