  1. Metal doors and sh*t? You can't strip materials off them and bring it with you so I'm not sure if it's a good idea. It would be better if you can just dismantle air ducts and use metal sheets to barricade windows and doors to give them massive extra hp.

  2. I will make it short because i'm tired:

    1. If you're turning into zombies, zombies most likely won't attack you.

    2. Playes should life longer after being infected and he should be more "zombie" than human after time (less immunity, health, slow speed, "hunting mode" for other players etc.).

I will put more info here tomorow, for now you can just go to H1Z1 wiki to see how it works there.

You can make them live longer by tweaking the sandbox options.

Just because you're halfway to becoming a zombie doesn't mean you are one, you're still a living person so it makes perfect sense that they still see you as FOOD.

But movement penalty does sound good tho.

  3. Aye, hallucinations might be from chronic insomnia, or drugs, but not typically depression. Coming off an anti-depressant cold turkey *might* give you hallucinations, but the other symptoms would be apt to all but knock you out anyway.

    Crying really isn't something that will happen a lot when you're depressed, typically you cry just as you're going into an episode, or recovering;

    https://www.reddit.com/r/depression/comments/3ay1tx/some_days_i_just_lie_in_bed_trying_to_find_the/

Less panic would make sense, emotionally you are numbed, but also, you definitely don't take care of yourself as well, and ennui doesn't even begin to cover it. Maybe a darkening of the edges of your vision, vision changes, and lack of perception, to cover lack of attentiveness to your surroundings.

I was just talkin bout the nervous breakdown caused by intense stress, not depression. Also, some people get PTSD after going thru traumatic events [e.g. combat, accident, natural disaster], causing hypervigilance and even sleep disorder.

But yea, Livio's right. Seeing sh*t would be too crazy, auditory hallucinations should be realistic enough.

Depression only messes with the sleep habits, motivation, concentration, fatigue and appetite.

  4. I play with my earphones on, the scream is pretty loud and it's still going after you hear the death-horn or whatever the hell it's called.

It would be nice if the devs add some flesh tearing sound to spice things up a bit, not just the munching.

  5.

They're also called staves. A fighting staff [or 棍/槍] is specially made with stronger wood types like maple, purpleheart or even quality indian rosewood so they're so sturdy and not likely to break.

In order to deliver enough impact force, the staff needs to have enough mass too, which means the user must have certain strength in order to effectively use it in a fight. As you can see, the Wing Chun master looks pretty exhausted at the end of the video.

Not to mention the insane amount of training in order to master it. A martial art noob with nothing but brute strength would only tear his shoulder muscles if he fails to fully deliver the force from the body to the staff itself when thrusting.

Sure It's a good weapon, but not for average joes.

Yeah they are pretty sturdy and flexible, I don't know shiet about wood tho so I don't think I'd know which one to use tbh. My WC instructor bringed ours from China (well, he asked the guys he's training with when he's over there to send them, planes ya know ^^), I think those are made with some kind of oak from china, I could be dead wrong tho... But, I think they need to be flexible to absorb impacts when training against other poles/staffs, or circular movements being brutally stopped during martial forms, so if you're sole purpose is to thrust straight forward through skulls, the flexibility wouldn't be too much of a concern imo.

Also yeah, it does require some training but it's not that exhausting. Master Wong up there is going hard especially for the purpose of the video, to show people with what kind of energy those exercises have to be done ; gotta sweat to learn ! The movements that exhaust him the most probably are the wide circling ones and the "triangle" with both hands at the very end of the pole, those are harsh.

But yeah I agree, might be hard to use for the "average joe" without at least someone telling him how to use it properly. No need to be a pole-fighting master against zombies tho ^^

White oak is a good choice as it almost has the best bending strength among the common wood types but its toughness is rather poor. Rosewood has twice the toughness and the same flexibility as white oak, but importing that sh*t is illegal.

Try purpleheart wood if you want super bending strength. Also, it's tougher than oak.

  6. A solid spear would probably be one of my first choice in case of zombie apocalypse, but I'd sure keep a second weapon for close range, just in case. (probably something to shank eye-sockets, or some blunt weapon that can be easily swung).

But yeah, spears. I practice Wing Chun and there's a martial form using a long pole -which is now mainly used for body conditionning and developping muscles as it's pretty heavy to handle and you don't walk with 9ft poles in the street- and one of the first move you learn is a solid thrust at chest or head level. It requires a bit of training to aim it right and steady with the appropriate body structure and rooting to developpe enough power, but once you get that right no zombie would ever resist your head-thrusting spear, they do not even dodge ; you'd just be thrusting skulls all day long, comfortably standing 8ft further.

For the record, that's the kind of thrust move I'm talking about (the first 8 seconds) :

Keep in mind I'm talking about an actual spear, a thick, long piece of wood with a properly fixed pointy head, or even carved directly into the wood.. I sure wouldn't use a knife duct-tapped to a boomstick.

  7. I can see adding such a spear, but not making it useful. Essentially you just ruined a perfectly good broom and knife to make a weapon that's pretty much guarenteed to break on the first thrust.

Not meaning to be disrespectful, but I feel a lot of suggestions like this and craftable bows are by people who haven't been scientific (stupid) enough to actually try it. Making any kind of hand to hand weapon that involves tying things together is a recipe for disaster. As soon as that knife meets a zombie skull, the first thing its going to do is wriggle its way out of its fastenings and come bouncing back at you.

Hell, even using a knife is a terrible idea. A knife is very much not a spear point, and WILL shatter if it experiences trauma. Go outside, sit in the street, and slam a steak knife down on the concrete like your trying to kill it (please don't actually do it) I guarentee you the knife (and you) will suddenly be having a very bad day.

Well said, kitchen or hunting knives are too flimsy to be used as spear heads. Strong vibration would break the tip very easily, just like dropping a kitchen knife on the floor.

Using these blades as spear tips is very ineffective as they're not directly connected to the stick/ staff like real metal spear tips. Even if the blades are super-sturdy, some of the thrusting power would be absorbed by the duct tape as the blade is attached to the side or the stick and it's not completely straight.

Spears should be added to the game, but only as an improvised tool for fishing. You know, the shapened + fire-hardened tree branch kind of stuff.

  8. The first time I saw this game on steam I was like "Ughh, another zombie game? Really!? Too many zombies games these days."

I don't really like mindless chopping or shooting zombie games, even the ones with fantastic graphics.

I thought this game was one of them so I didn't really pay attention to it coz it's not even a full-release yet.

Then I watched Robbaz's playthru... instant purchase.

  9. Now a few extra items and ideas:

    • Baking soda- This i have no idea of what its used for in cooking but i know that it can put out fires.

Baking soda needs to be added to this game, mix it with water then the paste can be used to treat burns.

  10. I just want them gone.

Maybe we need some crazy combos like these:

Fertilizer/Pesticide tanks + Gas pumps [from gas stations] + Lighter = Long-range flamethrowers

    Gas + Squirt guns + Wire + Lighters = Mid-range flamethrowers

    Spray cans + Lighters = Short-range flamethrowers

    Burn 'em to the ground!!!

Just kiddin', these things are too OP.

  11.

I feel before they add cars they should add cars. Not in the way that you may think. Before they can be driven they would act like giant crates with multiple areas to grab stuff. It could also be a start for the whole car system.

And finding gas for the generators at the next update

that too. It would be nice to learn these mechanics before the whole cars thing is added.

And don't forget about homemade caltrop traps to disable vehicles in multiplayer mode. Pop goes the tire!

I whole heartily approve of having car wrecks sprinkled about as added outdoor looting spots, it'd give the world a lot more depth and potential if the streets had a few abandoned and/or ruined vehicles... Cars, moving trucks with boxes in the back, smoldering wrecks, etc.

Yeah, put obstacles on the road to make driving harder. I like that.

  12. I'm a huge fan of weather based dangers, as well as hostile wild-life such as wolves and bears. Roaming wolf-packs raiding the abandoned cities is what I imagine to be the solution to the otherwise boring Winters, actually.

There're black bears, snakes, coyotes, spiders and bobcats in KY, not sure about wolves tho.

I found a web article named "Wild wolf in KY, first in 150 years, killed by hunter." on the web. [Dated 2013/08/19]. It says KY has not seen wild roaming wolves since the mid 1800's.

  13. Ice Blast

The player starts in the wilderness with absolutely no supplies but a campfire kit and a tent kit. On top of that, the world is set at ultra-low temperature so the player should have hypothermia and frostbite on start. [Numb fingers should affect melee damage]

    Zombie count: Insane

The main goal s/b to avoid zombies, gain access to woodcutting/ carpentry items and raise body temperature asap [From hot drinks/meals & campfire].

  14. I was wondering if you go nuts in the middle of forest you could get a spider bite  or a snake bite. The same problem could hapen if you catch some rabit or bird in your trap ans let then there for too much...

Cottonmouths are known to stand their ground when provoked so it can be quite dangerous running around in the forest like that.
