Gazza got a reaction from DannikJerriko in construction upgrades
Hey guys, some of you may have read this suggestion earlier, however after reading a post about suggestions, I thought I would make it easier to understand.
One thing I would like to see implemented into Project Zomboid is the modification/upgrade of constructed features, I.e. (wooden walls, crates, wooden doors, frames ect.)
The idea behind this is that as your character levels their construction abilities, they can then upgrade features previously constructed without having to tear them down (whilst losing marerials) and rebuilding them.

Actually, I was thinking about this the other day, and as jeffstaples1982 mentioned, most real curtains allow light through too, (unless they're super heavy duty blackout type curtains).

Just walk down a street at night and it's not hard to see how much light actually does show through - I think curtains in-game should stop zombies seeing you, but only during the day, and at night, a lit up house should maybe become a beacon to a degree.... Once NPCs are in, it would be cool if this was the case for raiders as well, and if you then had an option to completely blackout the windows, could add another element of strategy...

Real curtains still allows quite a bit of light in also, and usually if youre right up at the window you can even see in the house(with pull down shades and blackout curtains being an exception).

Each time a paint can is used it goes down by 20%, if it takes only 20% to paint an entire section of wall that means its quite a bit of paint for a window.  The window may be very slightly transparent looking out but nothing will be able to make out anything inside or out.

    Example:

It would be a oddity and something that would actually be happening periodically in a post apocalyptic world since a thick enough layer of paint wouldnt allow anyone to see in whatsoever and there'd be absolutely no indication of anyone inhabiting the place.

Hi, i was playing the other night with a friend and we came to an idea that maybe you could paint the windows over instead of using a curtain. Same idea as the curtain but you would not be able to "remove" it, unless you had paint thinner or ghaffti remover. Not a necessity but something to add a little more immersion.

I'm OK with the idea of player actions leading to reduced penalties or even the loss of a negative trait.

It has to be balanced though, so you would also be able to lose positive ones as well, and gain additional traits (both positive and negative) based on actions.

Never drink alcohol - you'll get drunk easier Regularly carrying a large inventory - eventually become strong Regularly carrying a very light inventory - eventually become weak Have a near death experience in a small house - become claustrophobic Search many houses without incident - lose claustrophobic trait etc.

Admittedly, it sounds like a lot of work, but it would be cool.

i beleve the plank system is just fine the way it is right now. Im still able to build my base at a decent speed without being able to pick up 5 planks at a time. I have done construstion before and if someone ask me to pick up 5 planks around the size of 2" x 8" meter long meaning each plank be about 15- 18lb. (6.6 - 8.1Kg) i would have some trouble in a short distance time. BUT! i do think there should be a slow buff system for this... ganing strength over a long period time of smashing zed heads and saws logs and cutting down trees. I mean if im build my own fort and smashing skulls doing it... id be pretty beefy

    About the sleeping bit:
I don't think people can really control their sleep. I sure as hell can't but if there are those kind of people maybe it could be a trait.
