In real life people would just take one plank from the stack and then bring it over to the construction. At best people can stack the planks closer to the construction site.

About the sleeping bit: I don't think people can really control their sleep. I sure as hell can't but if there are those kind of people maybe it could be a trait.

@vonholtz I've noticed that I hace to get almost completely naked (I have shoes on) to avoid dehydration. The head releases a major part of bodyheat so wearing a helmet during summer could be a drain on your water supply. Then there's this visual obstruction which might a problem if you're wearing an ancient Greek war helmet but with american football helmets or any other modern headwear the vision is pretty unobstructed. Maybe NPC's would give you funny looks if you're running around with a bucket on your head giving you an inadequecy complex. (Reduced self esteem) /joke

As a general idea I like it but NPC's should be a bit deeper and not just take revenge on everyone on the basis who killed who. They should also see justifications for otherwise reprehensible deeds like killing one's entire groups and just saying that it was self defence it's ok. We can't expect everyone to be like that, some people only see family and gang ties, but some people might feel bad about what they were doing. Maybe when that ghost of your past captures you he comes up to you and says "Yo, remember me?". Then you have a dramatic silent moment and in a moment the other guy just says "Aaaah, gotcha man! You should have seen your face!" and he tries to be friends with you which might be genuine or he might be trying swim up you sleeve. (Do you say that in English? Basically I'm trying to say he's an ass licker.)

That's pretty funny but not everyone is rational. Higher fire power should reduce the chance of a showdown but there should still be crazy people who take no shit from no-one. (so they take some shit from everyone)
