  1. I take all guns and ammo I gathered and go zombie hunting or drink bleach and jump off the tallest building I find. Depends on whether being bit pissed me off or if I just didn't care and want to get a new character.

I make them pay by taking as many of the sorry bastards as I can out    So it's load up the guns and go zombie hunting

  2. Had a super base built stocked to the max..I mean tons of food, axes, guns and ammo. Then I got bit and decided to just end it all...I started a fire downstairs the went upstairs to sleep thinking it would be over. LOL woke up the next morning on half a bed and the only food left was some stale tomatoes stored by the garden. As I tried to build another fire in which to throw myself in I dropped dead.

  3. On default game, food isn't really problem but the water is when water system cut-off. New player who are not aware of this will get kill due to dehydration quickly. The zombies are already danger on it own when they are in mass. Even 1-1 is still dangerous if you are not 2,000% careful while fighting it. As in my point of view. The zombies are fine but the environment still need to bully player more. If we could replicate what Don't Starve did and implement it in PZ, it would make "Killing you" project much more brutal. Winter start going to be real suck.

Hi FreedomFighter  good to see you play this game too :)  I think winter could be a big factor in making the game harder. Such as no crops growing also on really cold days you would have to stay indoors or near a fire so it would make a player stock up on supplies for winter.

I agree with you about the zeds all it takes is one careless move by the player to end up infected. LOL happens to me a lot...last game was 6 months 3 days, over 2700 zombies killed. I just got cocky and careless :(

  4. Not bothered by broken windows :)  I'm always "Yay I cut myself..I hope glass is embedded in my arm :)" But so far just cuts...even got to the point of not looking for a unlocked window. I just break one out and climb in lol.

Would like to see player made doors work better when placed on the backside of a house. Made one today on a little base I set up and it's hard to get it to open from the outside....you have to pull up the drop down menu to open it :(

  5. Started a new game..in this one I started in Muldraugh not far from the Doctor's office. I've looted it and every warehouse plus the logging camp..smashing crates and all. 4 axes, 2 shotguns (didn't find any guns at the police station) and 2 pistols. It's day 36 and I'm at West Point now I can pass between towns without seeing a zombie. Well not counting all the dead ones littering the road.

I have every tool I could ever want and a big hiking bag full of shotgun shells waiting at home...once I get it I'll hit the hardware store in WP. I've adjusted how I play to counter the update..stay away from tight places and from going upstairs to loot. That is how I end up getting hurt so now I just loot houses for food and books.

It's hard for me to just play safe but once I get my base built in WP I might just do it to show the Devs they need to stack the game against us even more  (clyde)

  6. I guess they did what they wanted as far as survival mode goes (kill you before you get to have any fun). But in my testing runs it seems getting scratched has a higher chance of being zombified then what I heard it being set at 25% here are my five test runs.

    1 scratched...died (13 days)

2 scratched and died (6 days)

3 scratched and lived but then biten and died (4 months 17 days)

4 scratched and died (24 days)

5 scratched twice and died (2 months 3 days)

I have a old save that's at almost 8 months she's survived 8 scratches but haven't played it til I tested the new build. What even more sad is here's my friends runs on the new build.

1 scratched and died at 8 days

2 scratched and died 15 days

3 scratched and died 1 month 1 day

The new first aid stuff is great cause I raid the doctor's office first so I'm all set. But why turn the chance of a scratch from a zombie killing you up so high? It can't be all bad luck because the numbers don't match odds that people say.

I doubt a Dev will answer this but were the odds raised?

  7.

And I'm dead.  I thought I should get some medical supplies.  Was fighting one zombie and a second came up behind me and got in a bite.  1 month 19 hours.  Pretty pathetic.

See this is why I changed my game so I can't get infected.

Laugh if you want but I find it even more silly here we are fighting hordes of zombies when WE KNOW one bite and were done for, yet we still have zero armor options in game. I mean really who in this zombie apocalypse would be like "Should I wear the heavy carhart jacket with the thick overalls and thick leather gloves or should I go with the jeans+t-shirt combo... Yeah lets go with the jeans and tee otherwise I'll sweat my ass off!!".

When the game starts it's undies (yes I'd love to craft body armor  (tophat))   but I can't play safe even when in my undies because....THOSE ZOMBIE BASTARDS HAVE TO DIE!!   The Devs want me to die so I play their game....but I just flip it and hunt zombies (clyde)  Then after I kill ever zombie I can find I'll be happy.

That's not bad :) was you inside... cause they give sneaky like that died like that a couple of times

Nope outside.  Generally I hear them coming, or at least have a quick second to sprint away, but she just came up and bit before I even realized it.

Was it a fast one cause she just got me :(   came from the side and clawed me. Game started me with a butter knife a can of dog food, can of beans lol no can opener and 2 leaks.  4 days and 7 hours and I had just found the holy frying pan and was testing it's powers in the front yard.... just wasn't playing it safe enough.

  9. Same here, just started on this last update.

    Windows 7 64bit

    AMD Athlon 2 x3 455 Processor 3.30 Ghz

    Ram 6.00 GB

    ATI R5450 1GB DDR3

All drivers are are up to date and I don't use beta drivers. Also my java is up to date.

  10. 4 months and 21 days and I'm pissed...feeling cheated as hell.  By the game the zombies shouldn't have even touch me...his hand wasn't even close to my leg. Now I know people will rag me for venting but this is the second time this shit has happened the first time was at 3 months 15 days and the zombie was biting air about a full space away from me

What pisses me off the most is this last time I started with just a butter knife and no food in my house lol I fought hard to stay alive killing over 1600 zeds only to be killed by a zed that wasn't even close enough to touch me. Yes I take chances always fighting them and not caring about the odds the devs throw at me. But this has never happened till now...

Devs you all are doing a great job on this game and while not a game maker I understand it's hard to make the visual of a game spot on. You have made the game at least in survival mode a little harder from how it use to be. Please keep up the great work :)

With that all said I debate....should I start a new game or just play my old save in which finding a zombie in West Point is like trying to find a axe. LOL 8 months and over 4000 zombies killed.. I own the town :P

  11. Haven't played Zomboid for a while, but the last couple of times I played, I played in West Point. Sure, finding building supplies is a bitch, but there's generally more loot and !!FUN!! to be had given the building density.

I tended to set up a base about here. Build walls between the three buildings, barricade the downstairs windows/doors and hang sheet ropes out every window. Plenty of space, and you don't need to fortify everything from the ground up. As an added bonus, given the parking area to the north, it's easy to follow the road east into the centre of town and back again without getting lost.

That's the spot :) You can wall it in and it gives you lots of room for farming.

  12.

Yeah I gotta disagree with SailorWolf, if your killing 980 zombies and living in a fortress that is never under attack something is wrong. The game should thrust excitement and hazard upon you, if you are saying "Don't farm." or "Don't build." then the game is not balanced properly in terms of difficulty. As simple as that.

The player being bored and then having to go out and get themselves killed is not at all a good approach to the game. In fact it is the sum of the late game problem. Because the moment you do that you are gonna exit the game and go play something more challenging and engaging instead.

I understand more needs to be added just saying right now the game is as boring as you make it. I've only been playing for a couple of months so it's still new to me. My last base was the best I've had and I built it with hordes in mind....because if you have 100 or 200 zeds show up in the middle of the night to attack your base it's gone. There would be nothing you could do but grab what you can and get the hell out. (Well with the ammo and guns I had..I could survive one attack and not lose my base maybe)

I think adding NPCs and a little story line would go a long way along with hordes (but not huge ones). With only getting to play a couple of hours a day after work and on my days off....spending hours building a base only to have it ripped to the ground would make me give up on the game.  Maybe 3 modes of play would work, one for new players, one normal and a insane mode for those who want to die within 2 hours of starting a new game.

But my point has always been why have all this cool stuff like building, cooking and farming if the whole point of the game is to kill you? Take it all out, make sleeping a must... put hordes back in and make the best weapon in the game a butter knife...oh make the hordes spawn at your door everytime you go to sleep. That should cut the game down to under a hour of playing time  8-)

There are alternatives to dealing with hordes.....and I'm sure once Zombie AI gets some much needed tweaks you could find ways to keep them from demolishing your base. For example, leaving out a backway to lure them away from you base is one way to stop a horde from demolishing your base (you do build your base with multiple exits right?). Wiping out a horde is not always the best solution. Make some noise, drag them away, and then attempt to lose them.

Also, I don't believe a horde would randomly show up while your sleeping and attempt to tear down your base UNLESS you did something foolish, like leaving on lights or having uncovered windows or open doors. Zombies mindlessly destroying windows and doors is something that will hopefully be addressed later on anyways. I would be more worried about the NPCs that may later show up in the middle of the night then the zombies......

Right now they want to fix the problem of players NOT wanting to play it as a survival game because it gets so boring and SAFE once you've established your base that you simply go on a shotgun rampage to end it. They want there to be constant threats to show up that you need to worry about and properly address.

I for one am looking forward to a difficulty ramp up.

Yes my last super base was two houses and a shed...double walled with double front and back doors on the main base grounds. My third route was out the bathroom window across a walkway to the second house and out it's back door which exited outside the base walls. Also had a big hiking bag loaded with a axe, saw, hammer, nails, trowel, seeds and food loaded for a fast escape near the back door of the second house. I look forward to hordes and npcs but as I said I'm having fun now....but thinking ahead never hurts I guess :)

  14. After over 200 hours of game play I've learned this game will be as boring as you make it...doesn't really need fixing. If you build a base and hide in it...it gets boring. Which I can't do, I'm always off looting and killing Zeds...which in the end kills me  . Had a sweet double wall base by the river, tons of seeds, fishing pole, lures and rain barrels...walkway build from one house to the house next door. But I want in the gun shop so went in search of a sledgehammer in the other town...got bit and died. 980 zed kills and maybe 3 months of food stores...didn't have to go anywhere. Could have live til I died of old age (clyde)

Now that I've been playing alot I've changed my goals in the game from how long can I live to I many zed I can kill before they get me and I'm having fun  8-)

  15. To be honest SailorWolf, I don't think I've found a more supportive community than the PZ one - I really think you just took those comments the wrong way. Stick around a while and you'll see mate - we're a pretty good bunch here! :)

Like any forum, there are going to be disagreements, and the odd little war of words, but they're usually resolved pretty quickly, without much need for the old "ban hammer" ;) (much to the moderators disappointment probably.... :P )

Anyway, as far as your concerns, I do see your point, but PZ is about "This is How you Died".  I guess as a side affect if the many cool additions to the game, (farming, trapping, fishing etc), have made surviving long-term a little easier, and the devs are now trying to get back to the roots of the game a little. Not all players will play PZ the same way, and there's nothing wrong with a player enjoying seeing how big a fort they can build, or how long they can keep their character alive etc for example.

For me, and for some players, the problem is that the end game often devolves into almost a "farmville" type existence, and zombies end up being an irregular annoyance, rather than the constant threat that maybe they should be... (IMHO anyway).

Let's wait and see how the changes affect the game. The great thing about PZ is that fact it has the Sandbox mode - so even if the changes to the base-game don't suit your gameplay style, there's nothing stopping a player, (and also nothing wrong), with not playing the "Survival" mode, and tweaking the game to suit you.

Anyway, hope you give the forums a chance, now back on topic.... (sorry Rath!)

Thank you. I've got to do some farming and was thinking of building a watchtower or something like that. But I always end up looking for trouble like that gun shop in West Point....I want to raid it cause I got all these 233 and 308 rounds but have never found a gun to use them in. As I've said before I love this game I just seem to be unlucky at finding what I need.

I like the thought of npc's that might join with you or even be a rival.  My only worry is zeds respawns or more how fast they respawn, cause in other games I've played you can clear a house and start to loot and boom there they are lol. I don't play sandbox cause I want to play it as the gamemakers meant it to be after all they put alot of time into making this great game. Lol and as you say if I don't like it I could play sand box.
