MrFancyMonocle
So I know that the environment models are mostly 2D images right now, and this is a simulated isometric 3D view, but would it be possible to use the Rift's dual screens to create the illusion of depth based on the simulated camera view? This would give the game, when played through the headset, the feel that one is peering down on a macabre model town.
daorkboypl
And how do you imagine playing PZ with Oculus Rift, hmm?

MrFancyMonocle
Yes, I'm not suggesting the camera change at all. daorkboypl
Realmkeeper
The biggest problem I see with this 'idea' of using something like the Rift to create a depth illusion, is that it would no longer be Isometric, assuming you want to give the illusion of 3D and not just offset two isometric projections. The developers have stated in the past, that although they are gradually shifting to a "simulated isometric 3D" engine, as you put it, they have no plans whatsoever of changing the general style away from Isometric. Isometric, by definition, is two dimensional (2.5D if you want to get into the projected appearance - but still not 3D). So using two screens with offset projections on each (as you would to give the appearance of depth, or a third dimension), would result in an effect similar to a blur of some sort - not a 3D effect, but probably something a little more vomit inducing. If not that, then it would result in a projection appearing essentially exactly as we have already.
