  1. That might be because the game is not intended to be a 'competitive' game, rather a co-operative one with the aim to prolong the players (as a whole group or team) survival against the zombie threat. I can imagine it could gain a competitive twist if PVP was ever tidied up a bit - mostly if firearms versus other players was not so super effective. Even then, in my opinion, it would become more of a 'outdoors' survival game with a hint of zombie elements, rather than the zombie apocalypse survival game that it currently is. A good plan for a mod though, best of luck competitivising Zomboid!
  2. I'm no expert on resources in the USA, but where would you likely find pitch to craft these torches from?
  3. Well, that depends entirely on which server you're playing on. If you're not hosting the server, and don't know who is, then you'll probably never find the admin here on the forums.
  4. Does it? Please tell us, what is Project Zomboid all about?
  5. I'd like a mod where I can go to space A wide open space? [insert picture of large field, in game, here]
  6. NPC announcement: They will be the first Downloadable Content available after the release of 1.0 (Seriously, if you're asking for an ETA, you'll believe anything)
  7. And the occasional door to outside mysteriously opening (when you're sure you closed it earlier)
  8. Pretty much. When you own suggestion has only 3 posts in it, all by the OP over at least a 6 month period, it's almost self-conclusive that either no-one is interested, or there's nothing to get all delighted about.
  9. I believe it has been spoken about quite some time ago by the devs themselves. It was mentioned that it was going to be much too much of a drain on performance to be viable (in vanilla), but that nothing is impossible with community modding. If I get the time, I'll look for the post.
  10. Are you not simply able to launch the non-steam version instead of the steam one, to sidestep VAC?
  11. Adamiks, I mean this in the nicest way possible... I think you have your blinkers on to any constructive criticism towards your idea(s). From reading through the thread, I get the idea that you are passionate about your proposed concepts, but there's also plenty of critique from experienced forum posters that have already seen these types of threads come and go previously in the past. Rather than defiantly defend your ideas, take a moment to see where these guys are coming from, and you might have a slightly different perspective. Generally, in the past, ideas and concepts ripped from a single other source are often frowned upon without some sort of adaptation to the existing PZ universe (including the Romero/Brooks lore, already in place). After all, TIS don't want to end up with a reputation for being those guys that made the Isometric Walking Dead, or Top-Down Left For Dead. PZ is already brimming with original content that has been derived and adapted from pop-culture sources, and to many is already well on its way to becoming something of it's own uniqueness in the Post-apocalyptic survival genre.
  12. Hi there, What are you needing the $1000 Indiegogo fundraising for? Even after reading through the campaign page, all I come away with is that $900 will be for licensing, and the other hundred for a Steam submission (that's understandable). What licensing do you require to complete the game, and further still, why would you need licensed products for your platform scrolling game? To me, the campaign page didn't really answer the usual "so, why do you want my money?" question very deeply, except to broadly state it is needed for licensing. Good luck on the campaign, by the way!
  13. . notebook is about 2 month old - got a geforce gtx 960m inside, new driveras are available as it tolds me =) . A GTX 960m in a NOTEBOOK?! Holy shit, how? My old laptop (used Alienware M15x) had a GTX 260m, and if you look up a picture of it you can see it's huge. yes, it's really fast. costs about 989€ in germany with a different hdd. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00U7EN06U It is pretty hefty, at 4kg it's a little over 5 times the weight of mine. Mind you, it's probably about 50x more powerful! I was just this morning reading about laptop recommendations, and weight ends up being a larger deciding factor than you'd think. Carrying around all that extra weight can be a bit of a drag (no pun intended!) if you're on the move with it all day. Back on topic though, mine at least had the decency to give me a big warning to check the driver compatibility with Win10 before upgrading for free. Not that I'm planning to any time soon... Don't fix what ain't broke, and all that.
  14. Did you read through his suggestion? If so, could you point out (to us both) why you suggest he read the Commonly Suggested Suggestions, and linked it? I see no confirmed No's regarding population densities and migrations, and in fact think it is a very well thought out and unique concept and suggestion. A great idea, and deep suggestion. Welcome to the forums, Hrodrik.
  15. What is a PZ "cookie" engine? That would be the fact that the engine can't handle stuff that games nowadays can handle. Physics, 3D terrain, ect. Not exactly a bad thing though. Pz has it's charm. Well, technically, no engine can handle that sort of 'modern' stuff, unless you plan to explicitly implement it. It's like saying Frostbite (Battlefield engine) doesn't support space flight or casting magic, or Terraria (modified XNA framework) doesn't support voxels or first-person viewpoints. Calling the PZ engine a 'cookie' engine, is like pointing and laughing at the guy mowing his quarter-acre section with a hand mower, because it would take him weeks to mow your 10 hectare paddock. The right tools for the job, I'm not sure why you would want (or need) physics or 3D terrain implemented in an isometric survival game. Next thing you know, people will be questioning why the PZ engine doesn't support HDR lighting or Bloom effects. (Well, ok, maybe I could see physics being implemented in PZ - for projectiles and balls and such. But you'd still be better off implementing a hack for that, rather than full-blown physics)
  16. What is a PZ "cookie" engine?
  17. So, what exactly is your mod request/idea? I'm a bit confused, because multi story houses already exist in the game... Be able to build multi-storied buildings? Or being able to build taller buildings? Or being able to extend further above, and below ground?
  18. So then, give us some obligatory examples of a multiplayer game with an integrated karma system that cultivates a friendlier gameplay experience. Obviously with evidence or examples of how the karma system actually makes any difference (positive or negative) to the gamer's attitudes. In the context of the original quote (which you truncated), "as it stands," I am yet to see evidence to the contrary. That is, that a global karma system in any multiplayer game actually increases or encourages friendliness between participants. Until then, I stand by my comment. I have never seen a global karma system nurture a more friendly environment, than that same environment without the system in place. I didn't claim that any game (such as DayZ Standalone, or PZ), or every game, without a karma system must be a friendly game.
  19. I think a global karma system is a terrible idea. My reasoning is that I am yet to see it work effectively without crippling general gameplay for roleplayers, casual players, and hardcore players. Games with a karma system have already been mentioned, like the DayZ mod (and what's that other teleporting mutant-type multiplayer game?), and well... it's just a PvP kill on sight mess. If there's something worth taking from another player, and you've also got something they may want, there's very little chance of having a reasonable discussion before they finish you, or you take them out and avoid the risk. If an implementation was suggested that was more effective in reducing the KoS mindset than the current 'toggle hosility' option, and had minimal negative effects on the more dedicated PZ players (there's an awful lot of RolePlayers enjoying PZ around these forums!), then sure, I'd be open to the possibilities. But as it stands, as currently implemented elsewhere a global karma system seems to ruin the friendly atmosphere of multiplayer rather than encourage it.
  20. if i may ask, do you guys ever really check the forums. it seems like nowadays you are one here or there so to speak. sorry if i come off as rude but i only really see the administrators around and that is not too often either. (not all, just some. a few are pretty active.) As well as Lemmy's response above, you'll also find that the longer you're around these forums, the more often you'll skim through the suggestions forum seeing re-posts galore. Although there's the occasional fresh take or new perspective on a previously debated suggestion, all too often it's the same as before, but without the critique and discussion it got the first time around. Not to be disheartening, but just because the Devs don't bother replying to every "We NEED vehicles in this game" type post, doesn't mean they aren't lurking, reading, judging... I personally think it is wise to let the forum newbies get their "OMG BEST IDEA EVER" posts out of their system without too much criticism or removing all the duplicates, because then they eventually see for themselves that the exact same idea/concept has been brought up before, and will be brought up many times again. It's a kind of sobering, "Nice to meet you, when you've thought through your idea with a bit more detail it may be acknowledged", and I think it's a great way to weed out the commendable suggestions from the "More Items", "Bigger Map", "We need vehicles", "Airdrops Inbound" posts.
  21. This has been suggested (many) times in the past, and usually comes to the conclusion that- 1) It will just create more 'wrong' places for newbies to post their ideas/suggestions/topics in 2) It would result in even more 'inactive' (or less-active, depending on where you primarily mingle) sub-forums 3) Posts with multiple suggestions within them (yes, it is much preferred that you make a single post with all your 'great' ideas within, rather than 50 consecutive one-liners) would no longer have a 'correct' place In short, although it seems like a 'golden bullet' solution to repeated suggestions, necro'd posts, and digging through the haystack for the needle, it is much more likely to result in greater confusion, apprehension for newbies, and general tumbleweed in at least one of those sub-forums.
  22. What would be the reasoning (in your opinion) behind the airdrops?
  23. You realise there's about a milllion* shades of grey in between black and white, in greyscale, right? *slight exaggeration, at least there is hundreds. If you're limiting yourself to only pure black, or white though, you're missing out.
