Crafting Ammo

Making musket balls is probably plausible, but muzzleloaders are vastly more common in states that don't have high powered rifle hunting seasons. As far as I recall, Kentucky has pretty generous HPR seasons, and so I feel safe saying muzzleloaders probably aren't as prevalent there* as they are in states that have only black powder/archery/shotgun seasons. It's also quite a bit of work to get the ~605°F it takes to melt lead. Not that it's not doable by any means, but it is a bit more of a big deal than just starting a camp fire.

*Fact checked this just in case, KY does indeed have a couple week long HPR season for deer.

Of course; I wouldn't suggest that muzzleloaders would be of regular use. Mind, my state used to be pretty decent on guns, though that was many years ago. The gun control has made it harder for me to find a good sum of ammo. Just the way the cookie crumbles, eh? Me and my relatives who live in Kentucky hunt with muzzleloaders more as a tradition. When you first use one, there's a feeling of satisfaction knowing that you can use a tool that's over a century old. Though it becomes more natural as time goes on. Though musket balls aren't exactly something I'd make a habit of using, unless maybe as a last resort. Minie balls are my preference. An odd thing that I've noticed is that in KY there are a lot of people who are still fond of this form of 'traditional hunting.' Though I definitely doubt that it's the norm. I've made my own ammo; things that are more on par with modern firearms. Though if you don't have the proper know-how, you probably won't be using your hand for awhile.

I'm also sure not that many people know how to make their own ammo. Though even if the devs consider this, I'm sure they'd recognize that it'd go on more in rural areas, and that it's probably something to be done right bout' the end of alpha, maybe early beta. I assume that it will most likely be done via a mod, though.

my point is... its possible? fucking possible,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Improvised_firearm

the thing is... unless you get a lot of practice on doing improvised weapons or become a really good gunsmith

you might not get good results.

about ammunition

http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/how-to-get-started-reloading-ammunition/

its the same thing realoading ammo and so is hard not impossible... can be learned

althou need practice and experience just like everything else in life.

the thing that botters me is like you are been like.. nope fucking impossible

no human can make ammo... thats fucking witchcraft nothing else.

The thing is even if something is possible it doesn't mean that the survivor of a zombie apocalypse would automatically know how to do it. It's specialised knowledge, whether it can be learned or not, you would need to be able to find this knowledge in the zombie apocalypse. I doubt libraries would be stocking books with this sort of information.

Just because you can learn something, doesn't mean that your survivor has the ability to learn this knowledge. I mean people can learn to build a car, but how easily could this knowledge be obtained to do so in a zombie apocalypse. How easy would it be to find the tools? Besides we're talking about someone who would be learning under stressful conditions and really poorly equipped. It could possibly all blow up in his face.
