Game wont load/no key

i bought the game through steam and it wont load. i get a window that say it has stoped working.

i think it might have to do with not having a key but i bought it through steam and never got an email with a key from steam so i dont think thats it. i have tryed reinstalling game and java but still no fix to the problem.

can any one help? im not very good with computers :\ i know terrible age to be born into

after screwing around i have gotten the launcher to open. i cant open through steam. i have to dig through 5 folders and open it through the files. idk why that worked and steam wont. if i have anymore problems ill be sure to ask. Thank you so much Grey for responding to me so quickly

What appears before the game stops responding? Do you get to select "Play Project Zomboid" or "Compatibility?"

in steam its say play "PZ" and the screen pops up and then another window pops up and just says"PZ" has stopped working. there is no error code or anything.

the game window on the top says "c:\program files (x86)\steam\steammapps\common\projectzomboid\projectzomboid64.exe"

 

and the problem indow just says "projectzomboid64.exe has stopped working"

im sorry im not that great of a help
