    Hi,

It's been more than a year now.

I'm still hyped with the NPC Narratives you described here and had planned for B43.

I hope it is still part of your long term plans.

    :)

You'll still be waiting for a while yet, so I wouldn't be expecting this anytime soon considering we're not even in public testing for Build 42 yet, but the plans haven't changed.

I feel I speak for most when I say we all assumed release was close due to the amazing leaps forward the dev team has been showing in the last 2 months. We appreciate the updates everything looks amazing

For future reference - it's always best to assume that anything shown in the blogs are just development previews cherry-picked to showcase upcoming features, not indicate the state of overall playability and completeness. There's still a lot of things to be ironed out so until the blogs are outright stating that Build 42 is around the corner it's best to assume they aren't. :)

Any explanation as to why zombie camouflage is a big-no?

It's kind of OP and isn't the lore direction the game is taking pretty much. The game follows Max Brooks (Zombie Survival Guide, World War Z). The books, not the movie. Also some OG Romero lore also, but not all of it.

I think using it as a disguise is mainly TWDU thing, I can't find where it originates from but that definitely popularized it.
Considering I found a post saying Zombieland used it in 2009, but TWD comics are from 2003 it's likely TWD. Obviously other games (Dying Light) have used it but this is all a long winded way of saying it's not the direction we want to go. :)

No mods. Do you know of a way to capture footage when the game is in fullscreen? It gives a black screen for me.

Edit: it would seem to not be a "once in a while" sound effect like a wolf howling, but a constant "atmospheric" background that has car engines roaring softly in the distance. It's hard to hear. And it's active here, in a deep forest far from any highway. Seems to only be active in the northern part of the forest, which is closer to a sort of vacation resort in the woods (south of the mall). It's active everywhere but I couldn't hear it during fog - maybe it was replaced by the fog's own atmospheric background (that anxiogenic hissing).

Edit2: it basically feels as if there's a racetrack nearby with people in cars going "brrrr" 24/7, 6 months into a zombie apocalypse. At 1 AM in the forest "brrr".

Edit3: ah. According to the PZ map project, there's a racetrack/abandoned airfield nearby. That must be it. Maybe this "racetrack" atmosphere should just be removed? Doesn't make sense to hear car engines go "brrr" 24/7 6 months into the apocalypse.

If you use OBS, it should work to capture it fullscreen. If not, turning it to windowed mode for the sake of a recording won't really matter as long as the sound is there. :)

If you can get it recording visually and audibly in any way that'd be good.

It's certainly odd still, I don't recall that being a sound effect in the game.

  5. It's more a ratings and content type deal. Fallout 3 had kids, but they were invincible. GTA doesn't have kids in the world. Most games don't and they're AAA games that have lots of money behind them, though they are also in more of a spotlight.

Not a good source of attention for an indie development team, really. And it likely would bring a lot of bad attention.

On top of the technicalities as well which is even going further than something already difficult which is varying height, as everyone is the same height. Individual animations for that height, combat (assuming this is TWD), and a range of other things.

  6. Does it happen without mods? I believe the More Traits mod contains a trait which can cause this. In the future we really prefer if people confirm it also occurs without mods if possible. And it helps our testers trying to confirm it themselves only for it to be an external source we have no control over. :)

Think I might edit the bug report guidelines to further this point again.

not fixed it is still on collision on the vanilla version. 41.72

"We posted the changelog of the upcoming build in our last blog."

It's not out yet, and 41.73 is the latest stable version.

"This build will go into the unstable beta once MP servers are fully patched up and stable."

So dialogue counts as voiceover which they said "no" to?

Look I just thought they could do some grunts and short quotes for the character. I wasn't going for cinematic dialogue.

And I thought, if they could do screams they could do grunts.

There used to be exhaustion sounds in the game, but those were removed for being... questionable at best.

Yeah this would certainly count too as it'd be a mismatch. Having dialogue for some things and not for other things would be odd.

  9. [n]    Voiceover

The reason being, is that it'd be a gigantic pain to hire at least adequate voice actors for multiple characters, we'd be thus extremely limited in creative freedom in writing stories, branching paths, and scenarios easily for NPCs. Things can't be added easily if there's voice acting because it's not just changing text. There's much more to consider. It's  just an unnecessary cost for a small development team who would like the game to be more free and creative with more options, rather than stunted by having to record every single line.

If the game was extremely story focused, it'd be much better but that's not what this game is.

  10. If you're referring to the shadow left over from destroying an object, they are baked into the game so, as Pandorea said, it's not a bug. More of a limitation.

You can edit some files within your save - although I wouldn't recommend it.

Refer to EnigmaGrey's post here and please read it extremely carefully if you're going to attempt it.

If you are going to attempt such a thing, please understand it is at your own risk of losing a save and much better if you just suffer through the minor irritation of the visuals.

Hi, I live in Latin America. and some years ago I played project zomboid, when it was in its build 32 or 34 if I'm not mistaken, then for personal reasons I couldn't play it anymore for a while.

but a month ago I saw the game on youtube again, and I was surprised how much it changed in these years. when I bought the game again when trying to open it it did not work and then a friend told me that my device did not meet the requirements

after reviewing forums and downloading past builds i found that the game runs fine on low spec devices up to build 32. it even runs fine up to build 38.30 with some almost minimal performance drops, that's why i thought of it perhaps a less demanding version can be created that can be played on those old computers, perhaps under a system that allows you to activate and deactivate the mechanics or more demanding things, and I know that nobody cares about that since they live in countries where a PC of low resources it has 8gb of ram but in my region having that type of machines is very difficult and I would like to be able to enjoy the game of my childhood again.

I apologize if my English is not very good, I had to complement myself with the google translator. the specifications of my pc -Intel(R) Atom(TM) processor CPu N455 @1.66GHz 1.67GHz -Ram 2gb -Graphics Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 of 256mb.

I would really like to be able to enjoy this game again, if this is not possible I would like to know as well. Thanks for your attention :)

Assuming you're on Steam: If you right click 'Project Zomboid' in your library, click 'properties', click 'betas' and select the dropdown menu we have older versions available to download for people who don't meet the current requirements. Build 38 up to 40 should run for you.

ugh, im happy with the changes tho. but still can't wait for the Animal and/or NPC update. i understand that coding, debugging and actually smoothing things off and implementing them takes time, and effort from the developer and the community itself. i hope it comes from 1 month from now on my server was on hiatus for a month now. keep it up

I'm unsure if I'm reading this wrong but definitely don't be expecting animals / NPC within the next month, especially not to stable as it'll probably go months in unstable when it does initially release to the public.

Someone please tell me how to sit in a chair. I tried right clicking all over to no avail.

By "sitting in a chair" I'm sure the changelog was referencing the "rest" option. The animations have not been implemented yet.

Being legally blind and partially color blind, I find the "Conditions" and "Insulation" bars difficult to read at times.  Even with my UI scaled up nearly to the max.  I was wondering if a possible, percentage or maybe the ability to change the color of said bars would be something that could be done to help others in my situation?  Or if there is a mod that anyone knows of, this would be great as well. Thank you.
