When starting the game, select the 64-bit mode.  That'll then let you pick a higher RAM value -- I'd go with 4 GB since you have the extra RAM.

I started with 2GB of RAM today, we played for about 4 hours. No problems anymore! Thanks!

Ahh of course, i'm just starting the game on the standard mode. Thanks for that :D

Generally the server needs quite a bit of RAM for any more than 2-4 players. The longer it's up, the more it'll use.

So, it depends. How much  RAM do you have it set for and how may players do you have on?

If it is related to RAM, simply shutting it down and relaunching it should resolve it.

I have 8 Gigs of RAM and I use 1GB (For whatever reason, the server wont allow me to start with 1.25GB). We are 3 people.

  4. I host a private server for me and my friends. Around 25-30 days into surviving, I start running into a rhythmic lag, every 30 seconds or so I experience a lag for about 1 second. It has nearly killed me.

Is it a memory leak after playing for about 13-15 hours? Maybe its because I've set stuff to respawn after 1 month (We're stationed at Twiggy's, near the gun store in West Point) and we are close to the centre of town.

    Anyone else having similar issues?

  5. This is subjective since some people like cold food more than warm food.

A good example is Pizza, some people prefer it cold rather than hot, so happiness in relation to temperature is again subjective.

Maybe this could be a trait thing where your character likes cold meals more (bonus to uncooked or food that cannot be heated up as well as food that cooled down)

    But your idea is alright.

  6. So how would bites be effected by this

Same way but bites have a much higher chance of killing you anyway.

I actually don't have a problem with the scratches currently.

I feel like it already does take a number of hours to determine if you are infected or not from it. I do not notice any immediate health loss, other than the damage from being hit by the zombie in the first place. For me it stays stable after that and I only get worried when that anxious moodle pops up a number of hours later.

It's not like that when i get infected from a scratch though. That's why i'm complaining about it being too obvious.

    Sorry if I sound rude.

  7. Pretty sure you can tell the difference between dieing and your arm hurting.

While you should be anxious whenever your injured in general, considering you'd be paranoid it won't heal, or it will cause problems for you in a dire situation etc.

Your initial reasoning isn't very sound >_>

You wouldn't be able to tell if you're infected from a scratch or not right from the onset since you should be losing health from it anyway. It should take a few hours before you realize you're infected since you start to get sick.

    That's the thing.

If it can only refresh so many times, there is a finite amount.

99.99999999% sure that this is incorrect, as I have foraged in the same locations for months and have NEVER seen it run out. Before sandbox came out I leveled from 0 to 5 in the same general area near the cabin in Westpoint and never ran out of berries.

You must be trying to forage before the "refresh" period is over.

Edit: Also, if your foraging during the winter, you will find NO food items, so that may be the issue your running into.

Maybe I am wrong about the refreshing thing. But from my experience, foraging spots do not respawn but I'll probably test this out over one long save file.

I've actually managed to find food during the winter, just much less quantities of it compared to summer or fall.

  9. I wanted to point out that it is too obvious to the player when you are infected from a zombie scratch or bite.

When you are not infected from a scratch, you notice right away because:

    1. You are not gradually losing health

    2. Your character does not become anxious

My suggestion is that a scratch or bite should be less immediately obvious and should be more of a mysterious outcome until one is sure that they are not infected. Whenever one gets scratched or bitten, they should become anxious regardless if they are infected or not.

  10.

I like the idea of foraging but its annoying that each square counts as a container so berries are finite.

Hopefully, a future update will enable them to grow back.

Not sure what your talking about. Berries are infinite. The only restriction is that you can only forage so many times within X area, (not sure exactly what X is yet) forcing you to either

    A) move to a new location X tiles away from your previous foragings

    B) wait X amount of time for it to "refresh" (exact time unknown, but its less than 24 hours if I recall).

    That's the thing.

If it can only refresh so many times, there is a finite amount.

  11. Massively late bump, they finally implemented snow.

Whether this thread actually helped, I will never know.

The snow is cool and improves the atmosphere of the game.

  12. I am having issues as well and it makes the game unplayable since the lag spikes happen for 2-3 seconds and it ends up killing you if your running from or fighting zombies.

Hopefully, it's fixed in the proper build 30.

  13. It is planned. Radio messages at least have been directly confirmed by the devs so let's all yay and continue. :)

The messages will not be voice acted, but rather appear as text as other dialogue in game. (or that was in game...)

Also as 123Imirish said, the starting point of the "story", if you will, is Muldraugh and it's most likely the source of the outbreak. This stuff is somewhere in the future and we have no idea how the devs have planned to introduce it so it's pretty much a moot point arguing on that topic.

    Ok thanks for the info.

  14. the zombies are only in knox county, it's quarantined. In the old tutorials you could hear the radio newsman saying the citizens must be okay because they were  still out on the streets (obvious propaganda) and it was only said on the radio to be like a non lethal strain of the swine flu

How do you know this? That tutorial could be completely irrelevant as its taken out of the game. Since they are planning on expanding the map, there must be zombies in other areas too right?

  15. Say, if you have a TV in your house, It would be cool if you could watch it and get some news of the zombie pandemic everyday provided you have electricity still on. It would be pretty cool to see the progression of the outside world as you survive. All this also goes for the radio.

It would also be cool if certain news affect your character's mood. It would be a source of entertainment to get your character not bored. It may also get you to be more panicky, sad or angry. It may also decrease the rate of sleepiness.

I just think this concept might be a little hard to implement, such as the random news that could come on for each map. However, I would really like this to be implemented even in a more simple way.
