  2. Will build 26 be compatible with the various build25s? I had big plans for expanding my base under build 25c, but theres no point IMO if it wont be compatible with build 26.
  3. My biggest gripe with the current system is that the weight of the current bags is probably about right, but the volume is realistically way off. Volume is the problem if you want realism. I do a lot of hiking and camping and I have a number of different hiking bags depending on the duration of my treks. While my large bags can easily hold 22kg (48.5lbs), they can not fit a sledgehammer, a number of nailed baseball bats, a shotgun, golfclubs, 8ft. planks, logs, etc. all at the same time (really they can't do most of them at all). Actually, my large hiking bags can easily hold up to 31kg (70lbs). But its the volume that makes it unrealistic. A dufflebag can more easily fit a number of baseball bats (I have a very nice dufflebag for my baseball gear). The game does a nice job of realistically depicting the fact that your body just cant support as much weight in a dufflebag as you can in a hiking bag. A hiking bag is specifically designed to destribute its weight properly in the most efficient manner on your back, a duffle bag is not. But you just can't fit the same volume of items in a hiking bag. Large hiking bags can hold up to around 55 liters of gear, but that 55 liters is compacted. No way you can break down a 8ft plank (and use it for structural support) or a sledgehammer. I'm assuming the planks are 8ft because you can build an 8ft wall with just 3 of them. A large heavy duty duffelbag can hold up to around 185 liters. My other gripe is your char's inventory that isn't in your bag. I read a post (not this one) where a member mentioned that it just simply is not realistic to be able to hold a sledgehammer, a hammer, a nailed baseball bat, food, a waterbottle, bandages, nails, pills, a plank, etc (assuming you're using the strong perk) all on your char without a bag. Where do you put all that stuff? Pockets won't cut it. Even a mighty fannypack will fall well short. Just think about grabbing all of that stuff and walking out your front door right now. Now imagine trying to RUN down your street with all that stuff in your arms. Now imagine running away from zombies and 'effectively' using your items to fight off some zombies without dropping a single item! It just isn't plausible that you could do that. It just isn't. The only way that I can wrap my head around this is if you made shoulderstraps out of sheet ropes for your larger items. Otherwise, I'm sorry, it just can't be done. Good news is that this is a videogame that has zombies in it. Some realism can be thrown out the window. I mean there are zombies afterall. But, I think a lot of the fun for players is to make things that are as realistic as possible so they can live out their zombie apocolypse dreams as close to realism as possible. For instance, I always tell my wife that I'm 'training' and not 'playing'. So to summarize; to be realistic, volume needs to be taken into consideration. A grid system that combines weight is the best way that I can think of to do that. There will be problems and concerns with a grid system. But again this is a video game so you can be a bit liberal when it comes to realism and get away with it.
  4. Two things that would make the game more immersive for me: Have my char show the bag that I have equipped on my back. When you loot a zombie of its clothes (btw I LOVE that the zombies have the same color clothing to loot that their sprites depict) their sprite should change to show a shirtless/pantless corpse.
  5. I usually start out a game by collecting as many vessels that hold water as possible and immediatley fill them up with water while the taps are still funcitonal. I then put them in the bathroom (since there isn't any other use for that room) and leave them on the floor in case the water turns off before I am level 2 carpentry to build rain barrels. Doesn't it make sense that I could just put out some cooking pots, bowls, cups, etc during a rain storm and they would fill with water? Rain barrels already do it, so I imagine the programming to do this would not be too difficult to implement. I know that I can grab a water vessel and fill it with rain barrel water, but I should just be able to leave them outside and they would fill.
  6. Are there any other changes to build 25c? I do not have any FPS/performance issues of any kind with any version of build 25 and it appears that the majority of the changes are designed to help with FPS issues. I tested build 25c and it worked great as well! Are there any other changes I should be looking to help test?
  7. Will this apply to an already started server? I started a server and realized that I forgot to up the number of zombies.
  8. I think if it rains, the outdoor blood should be washed away. I know the devs plan on adding the feature to move corpses and wash away blood with bleach, but mother nature would do a pretty good job of washing away the blood outside naturally. I also think this would spice up the survival game a bit. I can tell if a zombie is a crawler if there isn't any blood around it (that and it disappears from my view when I rotate. Corpses do not. This btw is another thing that I feel needs to be changed/debugged). I wouldn't immediately know if a corpse was a crawler or just a corpse. I would have to tread more carefully in areas that I have already cleared. In that regard it would make taking the time to move corpses more meaningful other than aesthetics. Just an idea.
  9. So I have gotten fairly proficient at starting house fires using the stove. What I do now is I wait for the fire to begin to catch, I then shoot off a blast or two with my trusty sawed-off to attract all the nearby zombies into the flames. I have noticed that the zombies are not very interested in the fire, but they are interested in getting to where the shots were fired from. I was hoping that the zombies would be attracted to fire. The noise, movement, and warmth of fire. I guess that's sort of up in the air with modern zombie lore though. Also the reason I burn down houses is that I don't need an already looted house. Once all the items that I could possibly use are removed from it and there are other shelters relatively close, why not burn down the house and take as many zombies out with it as possible? I'm just saving ammo and the condition of my melee weapons. I have plenty of rotten food that I can throw in a stove.
  10. What is the best way to set a house on fire in build 23? The only way I have succcessfully set one on fire is by creating a campfire and luring a zombie over the fire and directing it next to a house. A pretty inefficient way of burning down a house. Currently molotovs are disabled and I have had no luck burning down a house with a stove. I have left the stove on empty and with burning food for a day's worth of time and kept the house in sight the entire time. No fire. Any one know of any simpler and more efficient ways? I would love to be able to set off a house alarm and be able to set it on fire before making my escape. **EDIT** 30 seconds later a house with a burning piece of food set on fire for me...
  11. I have a problem where I have a sheet rope attached to a user created window and I can not climb down from it or interact with it from the second story. However, from the first floor I can use it to climb up and through the window.
  12. I have yet to run out of water in this game. So I haven't encountered a time when my char needed to drink his own urine. It seems to rain enough, that with a little preparation, you can survive a very long time without having to worry about water. If I went on a hike I just made sure to fill my water bottle before I left. Never had the need to drink my urine. Then again I've never had the need to drink bleach either, but thats in game.
