I know there will be a healing/medical overhaul some time and I would be glad if some of my mind find it's way to it :) . But I won't be angry if not :D . Don't overdo yourself with the realism, but maybe there are some useful suggestions, so I'm looking for it!

i don't think there is much overdoing. just think of Skyrim or Fallout NV. There are mods simulating nutrition and  healing effects, muscle growth, diseases, needs and what not else. for each game you have to get 2 mods to have all these effects...so i don't know why it should be a sort of overdoing to implement things like this in the first place. because these mods are mostly under the most endorsed and downloaded mods. and if we are here to see the realistic zombie survival rpg happen, why not put things like this in it from the start.

as far as i concern, i would even say, that one medical overhaul wouldn't be enough. there are most likely more overhauls to come. just look at the "cooking overhaul" though better it is still pretty rough.

Edit: and it's not like we are busting TIS' doors in screaming "give us the god damn final version" :P

most of us are pretty patient and eager to help improve the game, so i don't think time is a real factor here as long as PZ

avoids making the Duke Nukem :P

Yes you're right. In case of Fallout 3/NV I wished Bethesda had made some basic construction to their game (for example a basic weather system) so modders have a ressource to work on and mods like enhanced dynamic weather or sandstorms wouldn't be so cpu-consuming :) .

  2. Or instead, how about we BUILD relationships with NPC we meet. Thats just an idea and i cant right at this moment give my propositions on how would it look like in my opoinion due to lack of time.

But that would actually be cool to form some kind of bond with other survivors.

Silents429 meet NPC:"Make relationship with this!" *Put on the shotgun* *BANG"

  3. i like you discussion cause it seems that the center of it is realism

for as much as i know ,  by any stretch of imagination , in real life , "stress" does NOT impair the regeneration process

(maybe it slow down the regeneration by a fraction , mbe something that look like this  0,001% but i think that is too much)

What it actually does impair regeneration is fatigue , and calories in/out balance (also hydric balance affect fluids , so healing process as well)

Also i'd like to point it out that a scratch from infected (with lethal virus and other organic material not properly aseptic provenance) nails is something a little bit serious than a scratch from the fields

i'd like to post a suggestion where the health system would be based on realistic medical parameters (not every parameter jeez :D) like hydratation , nutrition , cleanliness (maybe decontamination and sterilization? oh that would be so cool!) etc but i think t will be a bit overkilling , and also of course most of the time where it resides realism fun doesnt , but with some tweaks everything could works excellent

  4. After three days of trying and crying to test my building, I'm failing to create a 1x1 cell map, drag my building onto it and generate lots.

I've read Thuztor's and Suimoboi's guides, they're great written and easy to understand. Maybe too easy, I miss something important :( .

    Step by step:

    Open Gimp

    New... 300x300px

    Create color R120,G120,B120

    Fill

    Export... test.png

    Create color R0,G255,B0

    Fill

    Export... test_veg.png

    New... 30x30px

    Create color R0,G0,B0

    Fill

    Export... test_ZSM.png

    Close Gimp

    Open PZWorldEd

    New... 1x1 cell

    Dragging test.png

Open Cell (but it's empty even with suimoboi's "MyfirstPNG.png"?)

    Dragging building.tbx in cell

    Save world

BMP to TMX works -> test_0_0.tmx but the building isn't there

Generate Lots... -> no lots created

    Help?! :(

  5. Ja, da hast du recht, aber wir wissen ja: deutsche Sprache, schwere Sprache

Aber mit den Klammern wäre die Gießkanne, je nach Sortierung, nicht so "beweglich"

    Beispiel:

    (kaputt) Küchenmesser

    (kaputt) Baseballschläger

    (voll) Gießkanne

    (voll) Gießkanne

    (voll) Zerstäuber

    (voll) Zerstäuber

    Rucksack

    Gabel

    oder

    (kaputt) Küchenmesser

    (kaputt) Baseballschläger

    (leer) Gießkanne

    (leer) Zerstäuber

    (voll) Gießkanne

    (voll) Zerstäuber

    Rucksack

    Gabel

  6. I dislike having the game try making a back story for MY character.

I know its random, and you can choose to ignore this, but seriously? I don't want my character having some people that I don't know be known as a cousin or something.

I hate my family irl as it is I don't want to imagine them in a zombie apocalypse where I could ki-

Actually come to think of it..

That's sad to hear, but you got a point.

  7.

I am confused how you think being stressed wouldn't heal you as well?

Get scratched by a zombie, put a bandage on it and continue working.

I work outside a lot during the summer and the scrapes and scars you get from yardwork on a daily basis can build up.

Do you drop everything and run inside to nap because your bleeding?

You heal the same rate regardless. Sleeping I "think" speeds it up, but given that what, like 8 hours pass since you last felt/saw the cut I am sure it would look or feel better. Doing some activity while injured won't slow you down. Now if you break an arm and continue trying to use that arm then well thats completely different.

I think being "scratched" isn't that awful, so there are you right ;) .

I assume being "wounded" is the better description. If you have a open deep wound, a sprained or broken limb and so forth. In this case I think "physical" (not psychological ;) ) stress would be a downside to the regeneration, because these wounds can't heal properly.

The bolted text in the quote what you were assuming is what I mean :D

  8. I can't create a map and insert the building for some reason. So I can't test the building for myself.

If someone want to create a quick testmap with the building and link a download here for me, I would be grateful :)

Please let me know what to change, improve or add :)

EDIT: Thanks to Suomiboi, the rooms should have now correct internal names

    File:

  9. I've come finally to the point, where I give up :(

Because I don't want create my own SuburbsDistributions.lua, I decide to take the standard version and edit the internal names of the rooms after it. In the MappingGuide from Thuztor, he mentioned the SuburbsDistributions.lua is under "media/lua/items", but this folder ("Items") don't exist. I find only a SuburbsDistributions.lua under "media/lua/servers/items" but, there are very few rooms to choose from, so I think this one is not the right one.

  10. Be aware, Zombies may be everywhere!

Just floated through my mind. I'm a damn poet! ;)

Edit: Don't trust your senses, better look twice and best thrice. Even if the gameengine let you remind the position of the last corpses, don't get careless.

  11. Binoculars are useful in FPP, not so much with ISO. You are still able to zoom out pretty far , when in attack/sneak mode you can even have your character off-centre allowing for even greater visibility distance. For planning in-game maps will be better IMHO.

It potentially would be possible to zoom out even further and blur out anything outside of cone of view (and FOV?), but that will be hard considering streamed map and 32bit application, not to mention probably kill most of PCs ;-)

This would fit for the binoculars :) . So if you have none (or no rifle with scope) you can't  "attack/stealth"zoom anymore.

  12. This...is a wonder to behold. Nice job, much talent. Filling in all of those rooms is going to be quite a task. Would you like some help with that?

Thanks, but it's not necessary :) . I've furnished the westwing complete and the souteast is at half.

This is gorram'd goregeous. Find a way to cut the ground floor stairs out, and you'd truly have a fortress to play with... complete with farming area and lots of places to snipe from, one shooting across Z-levels is implemented

Destroying the stairs feels like cheating for me :D .

Anyway, I've changed the parkingzone a third time and I think a vegetation overhaul in the park is also necessary . Also changed the facade a little so it fits more the original.

  13. If asign roofs in "Building -> Tiles..." you can set three tiles in various heights: The first tile is at "level 0" of the current floor, the second a bit higher "level 1" of the current floor and the third the highest "level 2". You can adjust the height with the x and y coordinates. After placing them, you add one floor and begin with first tile.

    Looks like this:

    floor 2 Level 0        _

    floor 1 Level 2      /

    floor 1 Level 1    /

    floor 1 Level 0 _

If you doesn't understand it, I'll make some screenshots :)

  14. well i guess you would have to compensate with books being slightly shorter i guess.  i mean you dont really want to spend most of your time reading in the morning, you want to do more productive things like scavenge, crafting etc.

i like the idea but part of my playthrough (mostly online, which i guess dosnt require sleep) i would read books at night, because it would its too dangerous to do anything else

i like it, just needs to shorten books i guess idk....

There is no need for shortend the time a book required to be read. Just add sheets to the windows and/ or barricade them -> no light get out of the room. In addition reading a book takes only a half respectively three-quarters a day.

I like the idea because items like candels have a better usage (never used them before) . I'm just going out at daytime, because in the dark I'll shit my pants :D

    Beautiful.

    Best comment :D

  15. Thank you two :) . Never played L4D2 but worrying, cause I have to live here :(

    Progressing:

I changed the parkingzones. They seemed a little to small for me, after I saw the others in the game. Now there are less, but bigger.

Also replaced all the walloverlays (for example the balcony). Before I used one tile for one square, now I'm using a set of the tiles in the length I needed. Better for the overview :)

Added walloverlay for the facade. I don't know if it's better to draw a wall with the tool or add a overlay... . But anyway the building looks more like the original :) .

    Added fences to the roofs.

Changed three roofs and added street curbs to them :D

Added details to the park, parkingzone, facade (graffiti - damn you RingoD and your crew!!! :D ) and so on (not yet finished and don't match with the original but looks abandoned)

Placed funiture in storagerooms (not yet finished) and began with the furnishings of the flats.

  16. The thing is there aren't many good buffs irl associated with being happy for example. You don't run any faster, tire slower etc. Maybe you could have small buff on carry weight, learning and short time sprinting, but that's basically all the benefits from extremely good motivation.

You don't necessarily take notice when you're happy, but you certainly notice all the things missing when you're not. This is why positive buffs aren't that important in games as they don't correspond to real life either.

I agree that I'd rather pick the personality type as a trait such as the brooding etc. I don't think there is necessarily a need to hide these as schemas.

There could be a "Motivated" ,"Encourage" or "Moralized" moodle :) . Sounds better than "Happy".

Edit: "Inspired" and "Ambition". Conditions where humans brings up highest performance.

  17. For crying out loud peeps, there's not going to be any major switch to an entirely new graphical style. The idea with the 3D was to improve the CURRENT style, not completely change the way the game is viewed/played. I'm pretty sure the 3D is designed to replicate the 2D look, but obviously with a few extra tweaks such as basic lighting and better performance.

    Don't get too crazy. ;)

The devs are *never* going to drop the isometrics, guys. 3d rendering engine is just because modern graphics cards are crap at 2d rendering. ;)

I never claimed something else ;) . If I write "3D" then I mean polygons not changes of viewstyle (I call for example Diablo 3 also a 3D-Game). Polygonmodels needs textures. If the exchange of these textures is easy, so you can pimp them up -> new graphicquality ;) . That is what I meant.
