I don't know, maybe this is one of those things which work best when you simplify it for the game.

If you add a near-sighted vs far-sighted trait with equal points, then player's will quickly figure out which one is the least obstructive to gameplay.

I imagine being near-sighted is less annoying than far-sighted, when you loose your glasses during combat you'd still have good vision directly around you so it wouldn't impact gameplay.

And stuff which doesn't impact gameplay is unnescessarry bloat IMO.

It would impact gameplay... I thought about 2-3 tiles around you, so using guns effectively would be out of the question. It would also impact foraging massively, I guess.

  2. Finally, short-sightedness gets a visual effect! \o/ One feature I'm waiting since forever =) However you may think about a more distance-related blur instead of this all-out-blurry-vision, it is WIP I know... super-excited right now!

  3. Yes watching those videos will (hopefully) prevent injuries but it won't really increase the effect the training has. You will still need a few weeks of hard and disciplined training.. that's just how it is.

  4. How so?

Maybe it's more like a "feeling" related to your playstyle or expectation than a real fact? You could and should try some of the firearms mods that are available, I suppose?

Don't get me wrong I'd like to see a little variation in the firearms I find myself, especially civilian - military it makes sense that it comes down to the m16 (and nothing else or little else at least). That doesn't mean it would make the game "better", because in what perspective?

  5. Why do you think you need more guns?

    rifles such as Glock 19

??...a Glock 19 (and 17) is a pistol and Glock never made any rifles... well at least until recently but definitely not in the 90's

  6. A cool idea! But the character should be desensitized at a real slow rate. It should take a while to get rid of this trait (to prevent it being basically freebie-points) and the consequences should be harsh at first... maybe you could feel sick after the first few times you do this - feeling "queasy" maybe even get "nauseous" for a few hours, like you had poisoned yourself?

Could be worth 3 or 4 points, I guess.

  7. As a matter of fact there are many "oversimplified" things in the game already for the sake of playability... and that makes totally sense, because many activities would be extremely tedious or complicated otherwise.

However I get your point and it was never my intention to unnecessarily stretch this thread.

One question though: What means MO? Short for motivation?

  8. Noone talked about freezing, just keeping fresh... at about 2-7 degree celsius (sry I'm from europe). My point is that in the game in late november temp is around 0-3 degrees most of the time... so realistically I could keep food fresh outside.

As for the root cellar... yes, that would be the sensible thing to do and I would love to build such a thing in pz but since this is not possible... ;)

  9. Even if it's not "that cold in winter" I bet it's cold enough to keep food on the balcony over night without trouble and I also think such mechanic wouldn't need to be totally accurate. It should still be play- and manageable after all. At the moment it's actually way more unrealistic as the cold does nothing to your food and that makes no sense at all.

I get that it is complicated to implement if you try to factor in all environmental aspects like sunny days or wind... but a simple mechanic based on outside temperature only would be enough for most players I guess.
