  1. So more damage And less accurate. and also more reliable? i mean so it sounds to me, and i hate (sike) to be this sarcastic but: its an m16, with some stats shuffled around, specifically with more damage, and less accuracy. lol but on a serious note, it does kinda highlight my point. while an AK-47 that would more reliably one tap zombies than the (actually disappointing) m16 would be nice, it’s not very meaningful as far as actual gameplay differences go, m16 is your “automatic” option. An ak-47 would just be generally an upgrade to an m-16, and found in different locations (not in the relatively end game army checkpoints). If we want an “upgrade” to the m16, it makes just as much sense to just rebalance the numbers on the gun. for a You could easily use an m14, msr 700 or msr 788 with a high zoom scope. Gameplay wise? It would function identically. High damage relatively slow fire rate. This is the only weapon niche that isnt really filled, but honestly with the way shotguns work in this game, there may just be balance concerns. its okay to agree to disagree, i just think the relatively small number of guns already in game fills the broad niches effectively, if not as well as i’d want (m16 should do as much damage if not more than the m14, why do i need to two tap zombies) Also they have stated that they will NOT be adding specific guns that have copyrights, they dont want to deal with licensing. So they wont add the browning auto 5, but they might add a semi auto shotgun of some variety
  2. Honestly, the picture is super funny, props for the high effort post, its a perfect meme, i could totally see it with the caption “guys my character is on its fifth year of killing every zombie on the map, ask me anything”
  3. One thing that could work for this is being able to make “presets” for mods, that work as a mod pack that you can load to enable all mods present in said preset. from there the player could either remove or add new mods if they wanted, but it allows people to load multiple mods at once, while having fine control if needed. plus thats exactly how the character saving and loading works, so the consistency would be nice
  4. Thankfully i am used to the whole “long waits big returns” update model - I love Dwarf Fortress, who is equally equated with the whole “update when” mentality. just breathe and do something else, it’ll be here when its here
  5. Now that i’m looking at it, that may be a homemade saw? not sure, but the rest of my post seems solid
  6. Afaik craftable bows are coming soon(tm) https://projectzomboid.com/blog/news/2022/08/slapdashdoid/ but also, i personally feel the lack of firearms is definitely noticeable, but probably intentional, you dont really need a large variety in weapons, most guns existing fire fairly similarly to one of the already existing guns. new guns would just be stat re-arrangements of existing guns, an ak is an m16 with more damage and recoil, not exactly groundbreaking. personally i’m fine with things stayjng as they are, i’ve used vanilla expanded once, and the variety was nice, but it was also a bit annoying to generally only have one or two of the same gun unless they were a re-skin of a vanilla gun (m9 or rs-500 i think) i just dont personally see it as an urgent matter
  7. In build 42, various bows, arrows and archery in general will be added along with a “bowyer profession” (possibly out of date https://projectzomboid.com/blog/news/2022/08/slapdashdoid/ (Never really featured in a thursdroid, which is a shame, but is mentioned in a few and one of the recent ones had a bow in one of the new weapon pictures, i would love to see more detailed info) but i digress the main point of this suggestion is for pre-made bows found in hunting/gun stores or randomly in houses. possibly even being made of materials other than wood like fiberglass or metal limbs on a recurve. this alongside uncraftable versions of arrows like aluminum or carbon fiber arrows that are more durable than craftable counterparts. i would particularly like to see compound bows, along with appropriate attachments like sights and arrow rests etc. Its something that would be both a nice addition, not requiring players to commit to the bowyer profession just to use a bow in single player, while also being extremely realistic. Most people don’t make bows themselves, and instead buy them online, and while it would not be incredibly common, i personally know several different people including myself and my wife who shoot bows for hunting or as a hobby in rural texas (not kentucky, but similar enough to me at least) i would also like to know what the design philosophy behind the bows is, are they meant to be primarily for hunting, being ineffective against zeds unless extremely skilled/being fairly effective. will it drain your stamina to draw and hold arrows? Either way the main point of the post is really the whole “modern bows in build 42” thing.
