  1. I think it would be a nice addition to the game.

     

    Just probably a low priority for developers - and possibly fog (and leaves from trees) would require some game engine tweaking.

     

    PS. Maybe blizzards and thunderstorms should have some slim chance to damage constructions and player planted crops?

    Yes! Like barricades and fortifications. If the weather is too harsh it will damage it slightly over time.

     

    Which should then in turn let you be able to repair fortifications.

  2. Simply put, it would be pretty neat to see more visual weather effects/ambience other than just rain and thunder. I think these would be great and I have complied a list below of the effects.

     

     

    Snow/Blizzard

     

    Description: Basically what rain is, except it's white dots of snow falling to the ground. If the weather is more harsh, then a blizzard will occur which will have greater effects on the player.

     

    Effects on Player: Same effects already put in when it snows, if a blizzard, the player will feels these effects even more.

     

    Visual Effects: White dots of snow, if blizzard, more dense pieces of snow falling.

     

     

    Fog

     

    Description: Fog is pretty much what might occur after a thunderstorm/rain, or randomly during the seasons/months.

     

    Effects on Player: Reduced sight (Not as bad as night time, but perhaps 15-30% of that) and the chance of slight panic/anxious if your outside for too long.

     

    Visual Effects: Transparent grey visual with a slow, creepy animation.

     

    Ambience

     

    Description: Basically just more ambience to bring the place to life. Perhaps some trees could drop leaves and those said leaves could be seen blowing throughout the city. Some items such as Newspapers, Papers, various garbage, etc. should also blow in the wind. Would be nice to see some of the tall grass have an animation even if it's subtle of some weather occurring. 

     

    Let's hear some wind blowing if its thunder storming or if it's a bad storm, let's see more visuals of the wind blowing water on the roads (if it isn't too much, if so, its fine.)

     

    Effects on Player: A more immersive experience.

     

    Visual Effects: Self-explanitory. 

     

     

    I believe little touches like this can really give a heartbeat to a beautiful game such as Project Zomboid.

  3. Thank you everyone for your positive feedback and help. I'm going to try and find the common IP's and try to get Zac (Zeek) to ban them all.

     

    Although there would be a workaround NasKo, Steam implementing such a feature would at least make another wall that they have to go through, and they can only use that work around for so long, in my opinion.

     

    Rathlord, I understand, I know you guys wish to not see things like this - you guys have an amazing and immersive game here and I thank you all for letting me have that opportunity to play this game. I'll try to Range ban and if there's any other things, I'll try that as well.

    I'm super stumped on what to do. How are people able to mod stuff this serious for results like this? Is there a lua checker/cheater system? Is it really that easy? I'd like to know some information about it and how they are able to do this because maybe it will help in combating it.

     

    Or a server reboot option?

    Do you have "DoLuaChecksum" set to true? That´s the only "protection" I know of.

     

    Reboot = Hard reset, so you would loose everything on the map.

    Is this guy/girl using a proxy or always IP from the same range? If it´s the same range everytime you could ban the whole range with iptables/firewall.

     

     

     

    We have that enabled on the server options I've checked, but that doesn't do anything. I don't understand how it bypasses it if it's modding files/numbers around and not being seen by it. It could also just be my ignorance of not understanding how it works.

     

    Reboot = I can't do that.. Is there a way to soft reset the server? As in, just wipe the floors? Or a server command to clean the map?

     

    He says he's using a proxy. Does that mean I can't IP range ban him? He says he has over 126 IP's and I've banned at least a good 40-60.

     

    If I'm not quite understanding or responded to you correctly, let me know, I'm really trying to find a solution. It's ruining the server I'm on and I don't understand why people would do something like this day in and day out and I seriously fear for other servers and future ones.

How is this possible, after IP banning, kicking, closing the server open option to false for a few hours, and banning at least 60 times and trapping him in a brick box (Shoutout to Extended Buildings mod :-)), killing him over and over again, I log on to see this from a player named "Alice". It's a lot worse around the map, but this is just an example around West Point of what I just woke up to.

    Is there a way to clean the map of items or a specific item so I don't have to pick up every item? Or a server reboot option? I'm at a lost. He's also spamming constantly and I can't mute him via chat(?).. Is there a way to disable someone from moving? Like, locking them in a sense? Because then I could just do that and they wouldn't be able to do anything.. Need suggestions from the community. (I know I can just whitelist the server, but I rather not do that, so I'm looking for any other suggestions anyone has on dealing with this kind of issue)

     

    *This has been an ongoing battle with this one guy for a few days and I'm so exhausted from dealing with a 6 year old modder who hasn't developed common sense and respect. I need suggestions before I go crazy. Haha. :(

     

     

    *Someone said I could VAC ban him? Is this game protected by VAC? If so, how do I take the steps to do that?

  6. To make this clear, this is NOT talking about special, mutated zombies of any kind nor will it affect their behavior and stats. This would simply add more variation to zombie appearance and would affect loot drops and such depending on the variation.

     

    In the zombie apocalypse, not everyone is going to be at their homes in plain colored clothes when the outbreak spreads. People will be killed/turned at their workplace or while performing a specific service. These zombies had professions/jobs at the time of the zombie apocalypse. Once they turn, they will wear and hold (but not use) items that go with their profession or job and join the horde of the undead. As a result, looting a zombie of a certain profession has a chance to have certain items on them. I will show some examples of some "professional" zombies:

     

    Doctors, Nurses, Surgeons, and/or EMTs: Chance to have useful medical items such as disinfectant, bandages, or needles.

     

    Fireman: Chance to have axes and fire extinguishers

     

    Policemen:Chance to have a weapon (a bat, crowbar, pistol, shotgun, or ammo for said guns)

     

    Construction Worker: Chance for hammer,nails,screws,screwdriver,glue, and wood glue

     

    An issue of this would be how the clothes would drop. They would be wearing uniforms, not plain clothes. However maybe we can have uniforms act similar to basic clothes and act as cosmetic variations.

    I don't know why I didn't think of it first, but... This. Please.

    I agree with the length part, although it would be a disadvantage also for the player with a too long name, makes sneaking from other players more difficult as the name is more noticeable.

     

    As for the ''childish'' concern, i agree with your concern.  But isn't it already the case with names?

     

    To further the suggestion, it could be required to be approved by the server admins, thus renforcing the RP element.

     

    Yes! It can be approved by an admin or an admin can have the server settings where it doesn't require approval.

  8. Same font or in italic. Max characters to help avoid people abusing it too much or bypassing a checker: 10 or 12. The idea is to be able to utilize it to help define your character better - least one of the reasons.

     

    So it would look like this:

     

    RichCoconut [Doctor

     

    If I were to choose a default title, it would be the players profession. You can also change your title to nothing by simply typing nothing when setting the title I just thought of as well. :)

    Well, it could be a checker for offensive things and titles, and it can just end up being displayed under the name instead of beside it.

  10. I think having a title by your name would be pretty neat and could change the dynamic if RP's and multiplayer in general ranging from creating groups to being more unique.

     

    /settitle text here would be the command.

     

    So your name would be for example if you typed:

     

    /settitle West Point Survivalist 

     

    your name would be displayed as: MyName [West Point Survivalist]

     

    pretty simple, but effective.

    Step 5. Re-open Steam to make sure the game updates to this version.

    Step 6. Open game and join server.

    My game froze when trying to load the last bullet of an assault rifle and it's stuck in a loop.

     

    Which assault rifle did you encounter the freezing on?

    Actually I reproduced it with the P90 and the Mosin Nagant. It took a while, but it occurred. Fixed by creating a new character.

     

     

    Are you on the IWBMS?

     

    Just to make sure everyone has reloading set to hardcore right? I haven't gotten any of these errors but I havent messed with any of the ARs much.

     

    I had mine on Normal when I was testing, I didn't encounter the problem. My theory is that is had to do with the IWBMS

     

    I'm on IWBUMS but I think I fixed it because of a silly thing of not changing reloading to hardcore.  :???:

    Im using  New Denver and Rebuild works well with that so far don't know about other maps though

     

    Yeah, Rebuild should work fine with other modded maps. Something's wrong with RichCoconut's game.

     

    I'll tinker around with it I suppose
