  1. I'd rather something more insidious, personally – skip to 35'31" for 'inspiration':
  2. The word "zomboid" suggests that the creatures are "zombie-like," so I don't think that there really is an established canon. That being said, though, things like magical zombies that don't need brains, or zombies vulnerable to blood loss would be nice things to have. I don't agree with adding a separate preset for just the lore section, though. There's already the main preset to use, and I don't think the devs would want other authors names on their product. Whilst I do concur with the latter, there's no logical reason why user-defined (and potentially, third-party) presets shouldn't be catered for to the same end, providing they remain 'unofficial'. The Indie Stone might equally consider adding a range of standard presets which correspond to these popular mythologies in all but name – for example, a more sensible take on the 28 Days Later concept, which would harness the advanced zombie population controls (see IWBUMS, build 32.7 onwards) to offset the increased lethality of individual assailants and thereby render 'sprinters' a viable gameplay scenario rather than an exercise in brutal masochism – and that versatility could then give rise to multiple, discrete, instantly-recognisable Sandbox modes across the spectrum of credible zombie lore, rather than leaving us at the mercy of potentially far more haphazard interpretations by players and admins of wildly varying competence. I say this only because what I'm suggesting amounts to a natural and straightforward extension of the existing Sandbox ruleset, in response to an inevitable demand which I personally feel TIS are by far and away the best-qualified to fill.
  3. I may well be. The Internet isn't exactly being exact about this. On one hand, the wikipedia article indicates it might actually cause chlorine bleach to break down into the same chemical it does to purify water, on the other hand many sites are claiming it still releases chlorine.Sigh. This is what I get for neglecting chemistry in college. It is the wrong kind of alcohol, not to mention the additives present. Wound treatment is meant to minimize damage to healthy tissue, not kill it. You know, stoping a spread of infection is much more important than worring about health of endangered tissue, cuz It's the apocalypse. Think that through. What encourages infection? There's no reason why the use of sterilising agents not designed for medicinal purposes couldn't incur a short-term health penalty, or even poison the player outright if administered carelessly. In fact, I'd suggest that synthesising medical supplies from potentially hazardous household items would be a natural boon to higher-level First Aid practitioners, much as top-tier Cooks can now safely utilise 'rotten' ingredients for their soups and stews.
  4. Judging by the olfactory aggravation Old Spice causes in such concentrations as typically sported by males over the age of forty, it wouldn't surprise me if other membranous organs were similarly affected.
  5. What you propose certainly offers some interesting possibilities for truly immersive RP, but overall I think that such an extensive suite of glorified torture-porn mechanics would simply be pandering to sadists at the expense of their victims' enjoyment, and so belongs squarely within the purview of modding rather than any shade of 'vanilla' gameplay. Nevertheless, a more sophisticated 'capture' mechanic (à la Day Z, with its infamous handcuffs) wouldn't go amiss for NPC and multiplayer encounters alike.
  6. I agree that the existing Carpentry-centric pre-requisites for item repair have become outmoded with the arrival of classes such as the Engineer, who might not excel at fashioning axe-handles but would surely surpass your average handyman in the area of firearms maintenance.
  7. Romero-style, World War Z-style, 28 Days Later-style and so forth, each with its own preset under 'Zombie Lore'. Would be trivial to implement, and also act as an intuitive short-hand for public servers; perhaps culminating in a Left4Dead-esque 'realism' variant where zombies don't respawn as such but are impervious to non-critical damage, requiring either dismemberment, decapitation or obliteration of the brain to despatch fully – lest they re-awaken after a predetermined interval with their brains (and appetites) very much intact. So: whose 'canon' do you prefer, and what combination of settings do you feel might best re-create that vision within Project Zomboid? (Answers on a postcard, please.)
  8. I agree that this really should be dictated by the server rather than individual discretion, as it has significant balance implications for any competitive scenario.
  9. An engineer could more readily assume the role of an electrician than vice-versa. I concur with the above.
  10. This should also introduce 'decapitate' as a context-sensitive action for those equipped with axes, saws or hunting knives.
