Soup issues

For some reason I can't make soup and I've tried a couple times, it appears as though one can only do it with canned soup and that's kind of boring. (Har har) I was rather looking forward to making some Cabbage soup but it appears I can, the recipe is 3 things of water, a cooking pot and a random ingredient, but it doesn't work.. Am I doing something wrong or is it a glitch/bug?

I think both broccoli and carrots can be used in soup.

Pot of water+ingredients, you may need to make sure the water has more than 3 uses while all of it is in your main inventory. Should be able to right click and make boring soup, simple soup, and whatever-it-was-called soup.

Ah, I have figured it out. For some reason the stuff you can farm can't be used in a soup.. Only the stuff that will slowly go away, like canned soup and Chicken and other goodies you have to scavenge to find and will just poof away. I find that odd, you should be able to make something with the stuff you farm other than salad.

Check out Invader Jim's suggestion... The ingredients for soup are pretty pacific. Don't forget that there's 3 levels too and flour and sugar can only be used after the first ingredient.
