  1. Bear Grylls is a nincompoop. I've only heard one other person speak seriously about drinking urine. Otherwise, its bear doing it gratuitously on TV. But on topic, it shoudl give MUCH more than -5 sadness. More like -50 with high chance of getting queasy.
  2. I'm not sure what the record is, as unexpected death usually results in rage quit. I'm many months in, regardless. Thats quite a base for three months. You are building it in the same spot im building mine :/
  3. The directionality of the blood spray is a great touch. That's my favorite safehouse so far. Before I died, I actually walled in all the trees rather than clear cutting, building the wall all the way around with a gatehouse at the market. The inner trees were for grand constructions later, but unfortunately, I died.
  4. I concur. I haven't tried this multiplayer business out, but the implications of starting scattered and having to locate other survivors to form groups is compelling. Locking communication to visible/hearing radius via talk/shout or after locating and tuning communicator frequencies (which run on battery) is really really interesting. Consider that you can shout to find people, but the zomboids will hear it too...
  5. Ive seen a lot of dayz vids.. Never seen a zombie. It's always silly executions, forced fights to the death, or a guy with a fire axe running around in circles. I feel like these things could be left to the server admin. If one could mod that behavior in, someone entering the server would clone those mods remotely. That way, us normal people could play on normal servers, and the psychopaths could have their servers too. I see modding as a solution to everything, and the system with pz seems robust enough to do just about anything.
  6. Believe it or not, all of this is in now! Your char will drink from any water source in their inventory. It doesn't give you an option to do it, it happens automatically! I use water bottles, grab a full kettle, right click select pour into water bottle. viola! You can't set a minimum time, but in sandbox you can set a maximum time. I wish a survival option was in for sandbox, though! Every time I play, it's either months or four days! Finally, most Zeds have nothing... But a lot do have loot! Sometimes a pen or a notebook, other times ammo or even an axe! I check bodies when desperate, and if I clear a horde, I tend to pick it over.
  7. Its somewhat annoying when I sleep in a queen sized bed with an obvious comforter and the freezing moodle comes up. Even if my room is 50 degrees, I'm not freezing under blankets.
  8. West point AIN'T NO JOKE. I spawned in one of the motels (minihotel) so there wasn't much useful in my room except sheets and towels. I could hear the thumping from the first second of the game. Whats going on!, I thought. Must be some kids having one of these raver parties. Damn kids. I went to the front desk to complain, but there was no one. Lots of glass breaking. I look out the window-- its a full on zombie apocalypse outside. This was terrifying. In muldraugh, I encountered my first zombies on my terms, but here, I had absolutely nothing. Miraculously, I found a gun and ten rounds at the front desk. I started going through rooms, having had no contact with zomboids yet. However, I could hear glass breaking and the banging and moaning everywhere. The fourth door i opened was full of zombies, and they were coming through the window. I had no melee weapon, and my search had been turning up nothing helpful, so I bolted. Out the front door of the motel and-- hooooly crap. Zomboids everywhere. It was full on movie madness zombie apocalypse no warning no provisions just me and ten bullets against every zombie in town. I got right out of there. Luckily, I rolled athletic/lucky this time, so I was able to juke, hop fences, and bolt. The community was crawling-- at no time in my run did I find less than five on the screen. Breaking and entering was right out. At one point desperation struck- zombies in front, zombies behind- so I shot a couple fast shamblers and cut around the next block. I ran literally all day. It started getting late, so I had to go in what amounted to the first house not completely surrounded that i'd yet seen, somewhere in this neighborhood. http://pzmap.crash-override.net/#0.7939628119616402,0.129754999275997,38.01204870006936 I got sheets on most of the windows and looted the place, but zomboids were banging on the windows. There were windows breaking all over the neighborhood, though, so I just bided my time and had a bite and a drink. Found a frying pan, so when they eventually came through the window, I was able to whack them dead. I went upstairs, and slept with the gun in hand. When I came to, they were coming in the ground floor. I situated my belongings, killed one on the ground floor, then went out the back door. This was another day of hard running. Eventually I got far enough out of town that there were no concentrations of zomboids. By a roundabout route, I finally came upon these homes on the north end which only had a smattering of zomboids inside and a couple outside. http://pzmap.crash-override.net/#0.784903009289801,0.11030884286489626,54.73735012809987 The one in the middle is my new "safe" house, but zombies are migrating past all the while. Wildest start I've had, bar none. I got a bat, I got a saw, so next up its time to get my food situation sorted and source an axe.
  9. All of the blue POI on my browser have vanished. I'm not sure what I did; any suggestions on how to restore it to the original setting? I've tried running incognito and opening new instances, and reloading the browser.
  10. I must say, I am very much looking forward to playing on these new maps. As big as muldraugh is, i'm gradually becoming mayor. I do hope some of these maps can be integrated into the existing map as a travel destination! (i don't know how to make it work for an island, but regardless, its so cool!) Cheers and keep up the good work
  11. I don't see much reason to add too many more weapons outside of modding. I mean; we can already mod things, and it doesn't really add anything with a role not already covered, so it becomes clutter. Other than machete. i MEAN, that just needs to be in. And chainsaw, because, come on. I'm more interested in clothing. Leather jacket\boots should prevent likelyhood of bites and scratches to covered areas, but should also have condition that rapidly diminishes-- i'm thinking a jacket can only protect from a scratch or two, and maybe one bite to the shoes would destroy them. It just seems weird when I'm wearing shoes and I get bitten on the foot. Its fine with regular shoes, zombies can bite through that, but work shoes should stand up (steel toed shoe!) and combat boots could protect up the ankles.
  12. I've been using repair on baseball bats. I must say, I'm appreciative. A stout/athletic build doesn't give me as much leeway to swing crowbars as a strong build does. Wood glue can greatly increase bat longevity, which is great as i was burning them pretty fast. Scotch tape and glue repairs seem useless , but wood glue can restore one third to one half of a bats condition. Duct tape seems ok to add ten or so kills. I've noticed the movement of small groups and individuals. It seems certain zomboid seem highly inclined to migrate towards meta events. I can set off fifteen handgun rounds and I'll rile up the zombies locally... But a meta event going off in the far distance will send them roaring off in that direction. They get in the trees. When I'm operating in a new locale, the noise I make slowly pulls them out of the woods, so little clusters continuously reappear over rather long timescales. My tip is to sprint along the tree lines once you've cleared a zone.
  13. I have really taken to athletic traits. I was playing lucky exclusively- now, I'm doing a stout/athletic build. Adding lucky to this is not really acceptable to me- I don't like moodles. Since dropping lucky, I've been scratched and bitten much more, and haven't seen a shotgun since. Considering dropping stout for lucky. I was wondering- do people prefer the sawn off to the standard? I wnt on a shotgun spree after a scratch, and found the standard gun was fine for dealing with a horde with a leading edge. If massed, then the sawn off seemed like a likely winner.
