  1. Howdy folks!

I've been playing some zomboid in a newly started sandbox yesterday and had some scavenging and some clearing of roads to do.

while I was wandering down the blood-covered streets, I stopped to ponder the looks of it. and then I felt that the scene needed some tumbleweed, that just rolled down the street with that little sound it makes (out of the movies of course, there is no such thing in the region where I live in).

Now, first of all question number one: does tumbleweed grow in kentucky?

Number 2 heh  could tumbleweed be used as part of the meta game, because zeds would maybe "hunt" it a litte and grab it?

thats it for now. have a good one! I'm starting to work now...

    edit:

  2. bury hell no... we burn the bodies now, that's what its come to now. Can't risk it anymore

like burying is so much riskier than a fire that eventually smokes a lot. burning is way more convenient though... put'em on a pile and light it.

  3.

Why not have each farming action work on the plant you click and every plant that's in a plot connected to it, but taking more time per tile?

not too bad, but wouldnt it look odd when my char is standing there for a while, whilst all connected corn-crops get watered from the distance?

Pathfinding should be quite easy to do in this situation... You'd just see the character wak to each crop and water them automatically.

that would be great, yes please. It would stop in the middle if you run out of water tho, right?

  4. I agree in general, a good pair of shoes is worth quite a lot when you run/hike/survive the zombieapocalyspe.

The types and conditions of shoes sound interesting and I'd be interested in seeing this ingame. However, we shouldnt overcomplicate things. having to search for the right size of shoes or me having to wear a certain type of shoes would be too complicated IMO, I'd much rather make this work over durability. lets say I'm a big fan of flipflops, but they go downhill in condition quite fast and there is a chance I could loose one of the flipflops while running. this would result in me running on one foot barefoot and possibly taking damage on that foot.

plus: searching dead zombies for good shoes sounds good to me! but please let me use disinfect those shoes and maybe clean/ polish my shoes do make em more durable.

Socks on the other hand, I dont know, this might be too much of a micro management. personally, I'd go with a basic pair of socks and also a lowering condition over time/use. socks could possibly be crafted (I dont know if someone mentioned knitting somewhere already) and be mended if the condition is bad and you have a needle and yarn or something.

also, wet socks should be a thing.

    so, basically...

types and conditions of shoes: yes please

socks: just lowering condition over time/use and the possibility of them getting wet (which would result in your char getting (a) cold)

  5. hm I'm not quite sure how I should feel about having rashes in zomboid... I do amit tho that running carelessly through the woods (and I mean right through the trees, not on a path) should maybe have the chance to scratch you a little... not treating wounds in general could have some kind of chance for inflammation or something - this would justify having ointments, creams and maybe self made tincturs or something in the game

  6. A friend of mine finally got me to buy this... I like it a lot and it looks pretty nice, buts its lots of work for my oldish pc nowadays...

Pressing tab is the bane of my existance though... am used to tab to see scores or stats or something. accidentally boost and run into things ^^

I died lots of times die to flying too close to the sun after jumping, but I'm getting the hang of it. Not the best pilot though...

  7. sounds good! not that you implied that or anything, but gold will always be gold - and will still be valued, papermoney is just paper from then on if the society and structures of the system go down the drain. but yes coins and paper can be used for various things, I was immediately thinking of this beige cotton bags with the dollar / pound / euro sign on them which would be perfect for weights, lets say for a bridge, a zombie or animal trap

  8.

Money to burn is a great idea!  Considering the state of the world, money would have definitely lost its meaning.  It is something simple to add, would give a reason for wallets on zombies, and would be a nice filler for the bank.  Sure you can burn other things, but this wouldn't be about not having something to burn.  The symbolism this would provide would add a lot to immersion, without being hard at all to implement.

To keep things simple it could just be a 'Stack of Money', and you wouldn't need to worry about separate bills or what kind of money it is. (keeping it vague would help those who don't use USD, etc. from losing immersion.)

I agree, since its primarily a cosmetic suggestion, a "Stack of Money" would be easiest to add to the game. Also it would make it harder to use as a currency. Besides I know I will be trading in bullets not on cash anyhow.

this could potentially add some function to the wallet... either you have a stack of cash in your inventory or a wallet where all the paper money goes. could also host some slots for keycards if such a thing will ever be used or needed in this game... but carrying a wallet in a zombie apocalype is a weird thing I guess... but I always feel strange not having my wallet in the backpocket
