  1. I suggest baked-in commands below with the description and why they are needed. Most of these are for MP and various other reasons.

If any of these ideas are being implemented, ignore said suggestion.

    Should be admin-level commands.

/removecorpses = remove all corpses in the world, this is much needed if you have horde after horde of zombie corpses all throughout the map and city that needs to be cleaned up.

/removeblood = remove all blood in the world, this can free up the server resources and will help clean the walls and buildings and roads

    /muteplayer & /unmuteplayer = It's pretty obvious for this one here.

/summonplayers player1, player2, player3, etc. = this would be extremely useful for events. I'm an admin on Zeeks Haven and this would be of great use from events, bringing players near to debug something, bringing all players to the start (for future races?!) etc. it's pretty expansive. It would work as a list and summon 8-10 players per command to not get so crazy. So if you wanted 3 players you separate them with ".". /summonplayers play1, player2, player3 . If you wanted to just summon one, type just one name.

/rebootserver = reboot the server. This would clean the map of blood and corpses and spawn zombies. (As they already do now if you manually do it outside of the client for MP)

Player commands, unless it'll be displayed on-screen or the such.

/worldstatus = would explain the status of the server in terms of years passed, the current year, day, month, and time, the MOTD you get when you log in, and zombies alive and killed on the server. This can be a quick reference for players just jumping in and adds basic lore+gives info of the server itself.

It can also tell you if Muld is invaded by an influx of zombies or west point, just the main areas though so for now only WP, Muld, The Mall and Dixie.

    Different emotes:

    /cry, /laugh, /sit, /dance, /wavehand

I believe different short animations or icons should appear if the player types simple commands such as the ones listed above. Can start out with basic five, this would help RPers and add a bit more immersion and fun into the game I believe.

    Misc Suggestions but still important

The Terminal or console for Mac should open up just like it does for Windows users to.

It would be nice for a "Start Server" option to quickly start a server, setting the settings kind of like how Sandbox does with the options.

I also think if a player dies in Multiplayer, there should be a list that cross references that character that died so if they attempt reloading on said MP server, it would know that the player died recently and won't allow that save file to load, thus kicking them to the player creation screen. The list would be server-side. Or a much easier fix would make saves server side. The commands for taking someone off the list for bug reasons or just to allow them to reload could be "/removefromdeathlist player name".

Tell me what ya think!

  2. Hey, strange problem that no one else seems to have except maybe Linux users.(?)

I have a MacBook Pro late 2013, OS X 10.10.2, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M, Intel Iris Pro (switchable).  And no matter what settings I've tried tweaking, turning things on and off restarting deleting .ini 's, running on battery or no battery etc., my characters and zombies do not have faces textures or feet textures.  Now I know I can simply turn off 3D models, but damned if I just don't love me some 3D models!  You feel me right?  Right.  Because I'm 3D.

Thanks for any help or information.

    -huck

Same here, no faces, just one color pretty much lol, I just figured it was like that temp. until the new animation system in v32 arrives.

  3. Idk man

It's not so much a matter of things breaking if the entire map was loaded into memory at once, but a case of it being impractical to load the entire map all at once.

If it was theoretically possible to do though, it would solve (or make it a lot simpler to solve) some of the most difficult hurdles currently existing in the game.

As a case of what would happen, if all the game's chunks were 'loaded' at once -

I'd take an educated guess that your game would freeze, and probably crash.

    For several reasons:

    • You'd run out of memory after loading just a few more chunks (the Devs have likely sized that 'square' around the player to be the sweet spot, not too much memory required, but not so little that it's often noticeable).
    • Your CPU would max out, suddenly it's not just calculating paths and collisions for those 30 zombies near you, it's calculating for all 8000 zombies on the map.
    • Your graphics card would start throwing errors, because you aren't just trying to store and render what's on the screen and nearby anymore, every frame you're processing an entire map worth of data just to display the tiny portion visible on-screen.
    • Your hard drive would be making gurgling noises as disk swaps start occurring to try and free up some more RAM to use for storing those chunks, processing the paths/AI/collisions, and preparing your VBOs.

It would be like trying to run Battlefield 4 on your calculator.

And that's the simplified explanation of why I think it would be pretty much impossible to play the game with all of the map loaded at once.

Eh, if my Macbook Pro can handle Bioshock Infinite, Warframe, Skyrim, Crysis, BF4, and other MMO's while streaming it to a 40inch HDTV, it can load a 2D isometric map lol.. Wouldn't even mind a loading bar displaying the status. I would MUCH rather have the entire map load, or at least more cells so I never see black boxes loading in. Makes it look kind of bad with tiles just popping in and ruins the immersion a bit.

*edit* to be fair though, it is early alpha.

It's mainly the low-spec people who might be holding this feature back possibly? Not sure. Would make a lot of sense though.

  4. To put simply, I think it would be pretty cool to have an acoustic guitar or banjo where if equipped, you can use the numbers 1-6 to play each note. Can start in Standard tuning then add the feature to change the tuning. It would play a sound clip of that note when pressed. Chords can be held with 2 or more buttons.

Just a random thought. Add something to do while the night passes by. If a window is open, zombies might be able to hear the said instruments.

  5. it seems like the mods that get added to the game are the ones that add a whole new element to the game, such as the Erosion mod and some modified version of the APCOM radio mod that will be in the game "soon(ish)"

as good as this one seems to be, i kind of doubt they choose ANY of the available weapons/bags mods that are available, especially one that uses a Brand Name of a gun that is available in real life, that tends to require things like licenses from the guns manufacturer which may get expensive

I agree - for an easy resolve I suggest simply changing the name of the guns.

  6. I think new weapons should be introduced to the Project Zomboid universe! (I'm sure I'm not the first to say this)

I think Antize Weapons and bags Mod is a good start if you guys weren't already working on one, or is there a way to upvote/vote for a mod to be implemented into the core game?

I've tested it and it seems fine, and you can tweak the balance of the weapons easily too.

    Plot:

When the apocalypse happened, I didn't know where else to go but follow my faith - to the Church. I've been held up here for a few weeks now, trying to help those in need. My dad use to be an old pilot, he taught me how to fly planes and in doing so, took his last flight last year.

Things have been going smoothly, but there have been gunfire in the forest deep within.. I wonder what's going on...

This use to be where I grew up... This won't be the place I'll lie down.

    Current Chapter: 3 of 4

Chapter 1: Escort & Retrieve / Players escorted Mikey to the last known location of the scout team to retrieve a message detailing the information they were trying to deliver before they were fatally killed. It read about the Government's attempts in wiping out West Point as of what they know now, but there is probably more information needing to be known..

Chapter 2: Waves / Players had to defend the church from eight waves + boss horde of zombies that were sent by the Government in an attempt to break down West Point's main central command that Mikey still holds. Thanks to the players, and a few casualties, we survived the attack..

    Now it's our turn.

Chapter 3: Showdown / Hit'em. Hit'em where it hurts. While doing my Airdrop last night to West Point and Mul, I found one of the hideouts that they are currently using. Bad news is, someone on our team is held hostage. We need to hurry up and get inside, extract her, and return her to the Church. I'm going to be in my plane trying to send a distraction to the enemy.

    Chapter 4: TBA

  9. Alternatively, limit yourself to private servers with your friends. You should find the experience more consistent than public servers.

No point in asking for a drastic measure, such as removing multiplayer, though. That's just shooting this thread in the . . . do threads have feet?

I've tried that, but that ruins the social aspect for me since it's only with people I know. I like the feel of an immersive adventure meeting new and familiar faces along the way. And I can't advertise private, defeats the purpose of making it private. But you are right, it just seems like an option rather than the real solution.
