  1. But then who would I ban? . . . You. Jesus, That scared me. I saw my title change to Sacrificially banned and was like "holy shit! did he really ban me? >_>"
  2. Just because Michonne does it, doesn't me you should too. XD Honestly IF they were to put this kind of thing in, it would most likely be a Easter egg weapon if anything. That's my opinion anyway.
  3. So, I think its pretty clear, no auto death from depression or anything involving the character doing stuff without your command. I guess I should reevaluate the idea: 1. More options for character suicide. I know there is already drinking bleach, jumping out of second/third story buildings, and fire. There has been times when my character was scratched and then got zombified as a result, and I wanted the character to end it before he ended up turning but bleach is too slow, fire is unpredictable/ is hard to light a building on fire on purpose, and a taller building is not always available. XD 2. these options would be for the player to choose depending on the kind of character/situation they run into and possibly made so that the player cannot accidentally choose the option by making it only possible after their character's moodle is very depressed. Would hate to have it you try to reload your pistol and choose the option by mistake! Honestly I feel kinda silly about starting this thread considering it is a very dark suggestion. Lol, people are going to start thinking weird things about me! >_>
  4. Uh... a ghillie suit would be very handy against other players in multiplayer, and potentially NPCs. Just saying.
  5. Hmm, that would be interesting to make it a trait XD
  6. Because you do starve to death in real life. You don't just get sad and then commit suicide in real life. It's not only bad game design, it's also not remotely based on reality. This is an absolutely not equivalent comparison. If you are hungry, you eat. If you don't have food, you failed to prepare correctly. But sometimes (in both life and in Project Zomboid) there's nothing you can do about depression- it's a natural part of life. So you have to deal with the side effects of depression, but that's absolutely not comparable to hunger and again people don't just off themselves because they're depressed. That's an absolute minority of the population. You really have no basis behind your arguments; that's not how life works. I agree, it’s a small minority and is not comparable to affects like hunger and feeling tired. If you feel it necessary perhaps this thread should be deleted before it starts any sort of weird heated debates over suicide.>_> I know this suggestion really only provides an additional option for a player to choose based on the character they are playing/ what happens in game. It does not contribute much to the game play other than giving the player the potential for a crazy story about a situation gone really bad. To be honest, this could probably just be a mod if anyone ever felt the need for such a option in the game. X_X
  7. I dunno, I think a good compromise would be to have a suicide option become available once you hit the lowest sadness level. Then it leaves it up to the player to make the decision based upon their character, since this is an RPG. Like Rath said earlier "the vast majority of human beings in the face of absolute hardship don't commit suicide, it is in fact a vast minority that do" So you the player can decide what sort of character you have... if they are the kind that would give up or keep going... or if the character gets super depressed because their fort is surrounded by zombies and he has run out of food and water you can decide how your character's story will end. Also if the option is only available when your character hits the lowest level of sadness it would prevent someone from accidentally offing themselves via a misclick. XD Would be kinda crazy if it was something NPC's could do, tell a tragic story when you come across it but I don't think it would be easy to put into place.
  8. 5 seconds doesn't sound so bad when you consider that, in a 10 round clip, you might only make one headshot if you're NOT spending five seconds on each. Then you get to fumble around with reloading and you've only made one shot. That's not how buck shot works XD Edit: Specifically, buck shot is fired with a very tight choke tube (a piece that screws onto the end of shotguns to determine the spread) and buck shot is designed specifically to spread out as little as possible. Most people actually don't even know that choke tubes exist, so here's a handy and short explanation of what they are and how they work if you're interested: http://www.briley.com/understandingshotgunchokesabriefexplanationbybriley.aspx buckshot does spread out over range though, but yeah... close range it is very focused, medium range it strikes about the area of a dinnerplate and at long range it is all over the place. XD It's kinda neat that several of the devs have actually fired these kinda of firearms before and know a bit about them. Edit: Still, chokes do make a big difference like you said Rath
  9. I have to say that I do like the idea of having hearing penalties when shooting indoors, but maybe not when shooting out of a window? I also do like the idea of having to take a bit longer to line up a shot for pistols and rifles... especially if the target is towards the edge of the effective range. A shot gun... yeah you do have to aim but if you have buck shot it spreads out.... Then again if you are firing a shotgun at point blank range, the sabot does not get far enough out to drop away from the shot and it will hit the target as if it were a slug. Good ideas though!
  10. I don't think anyone would want to sleep next to a noisy generator, but I see what you mean. A player could leave the window open which would allow sound to escape in that direction and reduce the likely hood of carbon monoxide poisoning, but not eliminate the possibility. I would say that if someone wished to run their generator indoors they would have to set up a ventilation system ( like this guy's makeshift one! http://www.inquisition.ca/en/esd/artic/generatrice.htm). Honestly I don't really see how running a generator inside would be a good idea at all unless it is inside an out building like a shed or garage with a fan blowing the fumes out or fresh air in. Buuuut, Now that I think about it, sound proofing would just be something that would help reduce some of the noise for generators in an out building, but would mostly be for survivors... letting them sleep in peace when Zombies and gun shots make noise outside and keep them from attracting too much attention inside. Meh, its an idea.
  11. Lol I didn't say it had to be a good sound proofing job, it just had to reduce the sound in some way. And yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of egg crate foam rather than actual cardboard egg holder..things. Mattresses might be good too, considering there are a lot of houses with spare beds laying around. Any who, some sort of thrown together sound proofing option would make sense considering most folks don't know much about sound proofing other than "put something softer against the walls/whatever. XD
  12. Could have a distillery pull double duty. Make booze out of some of your crop and you can run water through it to purify it and what not.
  13. Hmm, or maybe you don't get the option of suicide with those weapons and stuff unless you are in the severely depressed state?
  14. Definitely like the idea of wearing rain gear like ponchos, umbrellas and stuff like that. Make them a somewhat harder article of clothing to find like the big hiking backpack or something just to balance it out a bit.
  15. Have you tried screwing in screw by hand through a solid wood board or plywood for that matter? It is very very slow going and not very efficient. However, I do see what you mean. Perhaps a hand powered drill would need to be found and used in conjunction with a screw driver and screws to build stronger stuff. Because screwing in screws without a pilot hole drilled out SUCKS. Maybe when generators are put into play, more powerful/ faster power tools can be put in as well... they'd make a lot more noise of course. Good idea IMO
  16. Ah, well... the option for firearms and sheet ropes still stands then. My main point was to just suggest having more options then bleach and stuff like that. Thanks for the reply though!
  17. Hey again, I know PZ is a dark game and I don't know how much "darker" the devs would want to get but... A suicide option with a pistol, shotgun, knife, sleeping pills, or sheet rope (via second floor window) would be an interesting addition for those who are "zombified," or create another danger for the player to have to over come when managing their character or group. It would make sense considering that drinking bleach/burning is horrific way to go and that folks would probably want something less painful I figure that if the character's sadness level gets way too low there could be a chance the character will do it to him/her self without the player initiating it and that this could happen with NPC members of a group too. It is a very dark option to expand upon, but this is a dark game. I would figure that if a player gets their fort gets surrounded by a massive horde and they are on their last legs supply wise and ammo wise they may want a more expedient option than bleach, burning, starving, or jumping off something. If the option is too dark... you could just have the screen fade to black followed by the sound effect associated with the method (e.g Pistol= *BANG*) and then the infamous "you survived for X months, days etc." Just an idea, and I apologize.. it is dark one Lol.
  18. Hello all, So I thought it would be a good idea to allow for sound proofing of windows, walls, and doors in the future of PZ considering the fact that generators will make quite a bit of noise and having several survivors in one room talking and what not would make quite the racket as well. It would be make-shift proofing of course, made of egg crates and what not pinned to the walls (doors or barricaded windows) via nails. Grant it, the proofing will not block out all the noise made inside but it could help. I figure it also could be somewhat of a double edged sword as well, reducing sound being emitted outside but also reducing the player's ability to hear things outside of the walls too. Just an idea. Thanks!
