    • Hello, I'd like to ask a question about the attenuation. Don't you think it's static rather than dynamic? When you walk behind a wall in a house or garage, I noticed that the attenuation is static, meaning there's no dynamic tracking. It doesn't detect whether I'm standing at the edge of the wall or deep behind the building/wall. I'd like to suggest an idea for dynamic tracking of this attenuation. Perhaps few people pay attention to this, but I just wanted to share my thoughts on the matter. For me, the attenuation starts too abruptly rather than smoothly. Perhaps I'm wrong or wasn't listening carefully XD, but personally, it immediately struck me as odd.
    • .... I cannot say I have ever thought about this, considered, or noticed it, but I salute you for doing the hard work that nobody else has done.
    • I agree he's making accusations he shouldn't be throwing around lightly, but he has a point. It's more the way you're asking, and wanting to challenge 'the line' for no other reason than because we can or you want to see it happen. I'm not trying to imply anything about you, but I'm asking you to consider how it looks from the outside.   Some people would argue simply being reminded that they were there, such as via children's bedrooms, playgrounds, toys, etc is plenty sad as it is. There is such a thing as cheapening the atmosphere with excessive detail. Would adding child zombies or children you can see really add impact? The implications are (imo) more haunting than any visual the team could put together. It's like comparing The Thing to Friday the 13th. One is tense, atmospheric, a little mysterious, the other is schlocky and crude for crudeness sake. One is still talked about for its engaging plot and themes, the other is only really remembered as 'that movie where Pamela Voorhees kills a bunch of teens doing debauchery" or "the movie series w/ Jason".    Nobody is disagreeing that it isn't inherently wrong, per se, but there is a difference between simply acknowledging its existence and letting the players actually act it out, as was said above it totally changes the tone of the gameplay and world, opens the devs up to controversies and strict ratings penalties for a physical release etc.  Yeah, a pretty niche Half Life 2 mod crossed that line, but there was effectively zero scrutiny toward that team in general, it was just a couple dudes in their bedrooms. Indie Stone has made their stance on the matter of child zombies clear enough, and you're arguing to the letter of the law, not the spirit of it.   Obviously, not saying that everyone who plays DOOM is a murderer or that everyone who plays CoD is a sleeper agent (that's some Jack Thompson shit) but there are levels to this, and some have more baggage to unpack than others.    Just for example, depictions of SA show up in games and movies fairly regularly, nobody is saying you can't broach the topic, but I can't think of a single game that lets you SA a woman thru intentional game mechanics or openly endorses it. Maybe the original God of War or Saints Row? But Saints Row would likely punish you for something like that..    Now what would you say, if someone was advocating for the next Persona or Elder Scrolls game to allow you to grope NPCs etc? "It's a piece of fiction" they say, "Doing things to fictional characters isn't wrong, we kill people all the time in games." It's just... suspicious, innit?   I've heard a very similar argument from a certain group, "it's just a drawing" is a meme for a reason, and your fixation on wanting or needing to kill or see dead children specifically is noteworthy.
