[43] suggestions

NOTE: These are only my suggestions! It doesn't have to be exactly like how I described them. Pick up what you like and improve or disagree with them!

1. Ability to dig trenches with a shovel. Digging makes you tired fast like gardening.

+ an option to craft ladders

+ an option to craft pointy sticks or spears for the trench + useable as weapon *spartan style*

2. A rain jacket

3. Winter clothes

4. Military clothes like camo pants, shirts etc. Helps vs. human npc, zeds (as long as in forest?) and looks cool

5. Make it so that mugs, pots etc fill with rainwater when placing them outdoors

6. Composting rotten food to fertilize (an idea from Ben)

+ an option to craft compost heap

7. An option to craft bow and arrows

8. An option to craft an improvised observation post to look, shoot & throw (cocktails?) over walls.

9. An option to craft trip wires which alert about zeds in the perimeter. Low chance to wake up from bell.

Requires a pole, wire and a bell

I basically would like a way to be warned about zeds which are walking next to my fortress. Maybe someone else has a better idea for that ? Yes, it can attract even more.

10. Binoculars to increase vision when equipped. Zoom out to see what you running into.

11. An option to keep animals like rabbits or chicken etc. Maybe even repopulate when different sex are in one cage or area.

+ Option to build a cage or fences ( already possible) for bigger area.

Requires an appropriate trap. You've to feed them.

12. A sniper rifle. Pressing aim opens telescopic sight (as mouse cursor) which you hover over your target like in jagged alliance 2.

13. A sleeping pad. An easier option to sleep on the road.

Disadvantage: You wake up when raining. Chance to become ill when too cold or without campfire or appropriate winter clothes to lower chance of illness.

14. Options to protect your body from scratches. Like leather gloves or bandages wrapped round your arms. An easter egg: knight armor ^^. Riot shields (police station?), ice hockey/football wear (find and wear armor like in jagged alliance 2, baldur's gate or diabolo 2?)

15. An alarm clock to wake up when you want (sleep management)

Requires battery or wind up older types of clocks

16. Wrist watch or alarm clock to know the time. Without no time information but starting game with one.

+ Option to let your character tell you how high the sun is (A text above character like when he/she doesn't understand a skill book)

+ Older clocks you can wind up (no need of battery)

17. Stuff you carry can break/take dmg when you hit in combat or fall down a window.

18. Chance to lose stuff when running which is not in your backpack or backpack itself.

Change especially increased when in panic!

19. Ride a horse ( have to feed and build a place to hold). Not every horse likes you + maybe give it some sweets. Give it a name. Requires pet skill book

20. Bicycles, mountain bikes. Can break/dmg when running into zeds+ you fall down take dmg + your stuff etc

21. Have a dog as a pet. Command it, give it a name. Untrained dogs are barking which attracts zeds but helps fighting them even on the road. Skill book for pets.

A dog or cat can help improve mood! Have to feed it.

22. Add balconies to buildings and craft improvised extensions

23. Add swimming pools as natural water barrel. You can block the drain? Some home sites are better suited for survival than others.

24. An option to craft a clothesline for wet towels and clothes. Forces you to change clothes!

+ clothespins

Clothes should also get a chance of dmg when you get hit

25. Profession:

Teacher/ Academic: Improved learning

Waiter (something along those lines) to increased speed of packing/swapping things

26. Traits:

bonehead: decreased learning

27. Eating less trains your stomach to demand less food!

"Once you are an adult, your stomach pretty much remains the same size -- unless you have surgery to intentionally make it smaller. Eating less won't shrink your stomach, says Moyad, but it can help to reset your "appetite thermostat" so you won't feel as hungry, and it may be easier to stick with your eating plan."

"Still, studies have shown that significantly reducing caloric intake does produce measurable reductions in a person’s stomach capacity."

28. The place where you sleep should make a difference in quality of your sleeping phase and warmth!

29. A highly skilled farmer grows bigger/heavier potatoes?

30. An option or key/button to see walls! This is because sometimes you're simply not sure if there was still a hole in your wall or not! Only option is currently to run around the wall to see it from the other side which is laborious...

31. About keyboard controls: It's not possible to RUN diagonally (like holding UP+LEFT or RIGHT ARROW KEY). Walking works that way already! I'm a left-hander and use arrow keys to control movement.

32. As long as not implemented yet, make it so that open windows inside your house have an impact on temperature level of your home!

33. A thermometer for obvious reasons

34. Ability to cut high grass if not possible already. Maybe add a machete.

35. When you improved a skill like cook mastery, for example, make it so that when you select "read" the next time after finishing the skill book mastery of cooking a window pops up with all possible recipes and improvements which are associated with this skill level (here cook level 5). It kinda defeats the purpose when you still play the guessing game even tho you just finished a skill book after hours of reading!

36. Made the experience that getting a scratch from zeds can make you quite paranoid! After the scratch I felt like I was getting tired earlier and I was wondering about my char's sudden complaints about heat! I asked in forum about symptoms and learnt that there will simply be a "feeling sick" moodle when you got infected! Now, such symptoms were apparently only coincidences but daily variations in temperature without a thermometer or being sometimes a bit earlier tired than usual could be worth a thought it seems!!

37. I noticed that there are apparently? no options or items to clean wounds? You could do that in the sink with running water that is or whisky? Certain medical supplies to treat and clean wounds are also not in the game I believe except for bandages. Bandages from sheets also arent always 100% sterile!

38. Sadbox option for Transmission is Blood + Saliva. A (medical, hockey etc) face mask and bandana to cover your mouth would make sense! When you smash a zed with your axe I would say a lot of zombie stuff like blood and saliva splatters everywhere! Being in panic could increase the chance of getting infected by an open mouth and zed stuff.

39. Add dog leashes, chains & handcuffs to the game so that you can knock a zombie down and kinda take him as prisoner. Once attached to your dog leash or handcuffs you keep pulling the zed to your home. If you're forced to stop the zed gets back up? Build a nice little corral and hold your own zombie pet! You put a pole in the middle and attach the mentioned dog leashes or chains. Maybe some kind of interaction via right click with the zed. Lot of possibilities like decrease boredom, zombie behavior study etc..

40. Instead of just writing a journal to decrease boredom make it so that every written journal gives you information of the amount of eaten food, killed zombies, weather or lost stuff (see point 18) etc of the last 24h. Like with the ability to read already learnt skill books to see what they actually do I find it a cool idea to actually start to build up a library! The title of the journal in your inventory could include a date. Instead of having a blunt function give books meaning so that it's not trash after usage! Compared to other games such an approach would make the common artificial in-game menus obsolete. Instead of pressing a button to pop up a magical information screen you actually have to write it down every day or the information is lost...

41. Ability to learn drawing! Once you find a map and got the right skill level you can make copies! That's useful when the game covers the ability to make your own individual marks and signs on a map! Required: 4 sheet of paper + scotch tape + pencil/pen. Maybe option to use an eraser?

42. Some thunderstorms can dmg or destroy parts of your base like walls or water barrels! When walls get dmg you could visualize that by changing the look of walls. Like when a lvl 5 wall gets a lot of dmg it turns into level 4 or simply add holes which get bigger by dmg? Maybe also right click them like with the garden? It's basically late game stuff to give you something to do! Maintenance checks.

43. Constantly running through piles of old corpses should cause a chance for getting some kind of disease! I'm sure other people know better than me what kind of stuff you could get from breathing such air?

44. Quality of houses should have an impact on mood. The richer the former owners were the heavier should be the impact on your mood. In many zombies movies is portrayed how survivors react when they find such a location (like Bill Murray's home in zombieland).

That's a lot of suggestions. First I'll suggest you read through these:

http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/192-commonly-suggested-suggestions-read-before-posting/

http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/26-how-to-write-a-good-suggestion-read-before-posting/

And then I say that probably 99% of these have been suggested/discussed at some point and probably 60-80% are confirmed to happen at some point in the future.

Last I'll say welcome to the forums! We're glad to have you with us!! (clyde) (clyde) (clyde)

thx, m8! I read the summary on the steam forum and figured the one here is probably the same but I agree and will edit my suggestions thread according to what's already mentioned in your links : )

The threads are more guide lines rather than a rules, so don't worry about that so much. They're just something that's good to know before making suggestions, because people here have already read many of the subjects and won't bother to answer. I usually refer to those, so that at least new people get why there isn't much discussion on their suggestions.

Also there is no need to delete this thread. It'll serve a good purpose if someone else reads it in the future. :)
