Hi Guys, Im new in the community.

I had a problem creating a LAN game in Project Zomboid.

I followed all the steps listed at this post in order to create a game:

http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/5577-multiplayer-open-test-details-inside/

And also readed this two post, and follow their instructions:

http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/6122-lan-servers/

The problem is, after we connected few laptos to a router to create a LAN game, and the server is running `SERVER STARTED´ we tried to connect to the game by typing the local host IP. Nothing.

The server says: Id=0 gy=(lots of numbers) Disconnection notified.

We tried running the server in differents laptos, with differents IP asigned by the router and it didn´t work. We turned down the firewall, and antivirus. Also open the ports that the post recomended.

The curious thing is, we we are out of the router´s LAN, and connected to internet. We can create a game and enter by typing our own IP. Also we can enter in other servers trought internet.

Weird

Which computer is hosting it because all he has to do is go to cmd and do ipconfig it should say "ipv4 address" look to the right and it should say something like "192.168.#.#

the # are your numbers give that to all of your friends to connect to the lan

Make sure you guys have names because you cannot connect if you dont have a name

Hello. We did that. When we create a game in a different laptop we look for the local IP on that machine.
We know there are something gong on that is not allowing us to connect:

For example, if we type an incorrect IP it says `connection failed´ right away.

But when we type the right local IP it just say `connecting´ After almost a minute or so, it says `Connection failed´

We when are out the LAN, we can create a game, by runing the server archive, and enter our own game by typing our own local IP. But as soon as we are connected to the LAN again, we can´t enter even our own servers.

If we can enter under this weird circustances (outside the LAN) we supose is not a version problem, or a firewall thing, but we can´t get it :( :(

This guy seems to had the same problem: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/6122-lan-servers/

I ran into this issue too! Tried 127.0.0.1, localhost, and tried my own LAN IP address. But I took a shot in the dark and look up my own IP address (public IP) and connected by that address (Google "what's my IP"). Oddly enough, it worked.

But this is under the condition that I port forwarded my server, so YMMV. But I say give it a shot anyway, even if the ports aren't open on the firewall.

I tried to open another server by LAN, but using Hamachi this time.

When I type the right IP a error message shows up in the PZ console:

function: OnConnectFailed -- file: ServerList.lue line # 574

sendto failed with code -1 for char 5 and length 1464.

sendto failed with code -1 for char 5 and length 1464.

sendto failed with code -1 for char 5 and length 1464.

sendto failed with code -1 for char 5 and length 1464.

ID_CONNECTION_ATTEMPT_FAILED

When I tipe any other IP, just shows the message: ID_CONNECTION_ATTEMPT_FAILED

Do anyone have an idea of what is going on?

THANKS!

What's the server console saying during all this?

Looks like it basically can't find/connect to the server, either because of something blocking the connection (anti virus such as AVG has been known to do this) or some other problem. If you can post what the server console was doing, should be able to help :D

I finally get it to work! (fedora)

We tried again a LAN game using a router to connect few laptops. After opening required ports on it, we try to connect trough the local IP of the machine running the server, it said connection failed after a few seconds. But i readed somewhere that we need to set our IP to static. After we did that we finally get allowed to join the local game.

Pd. Sometimes it says connection failed after the first try, but will connect at second or third try.

Thanks for the help anyways!
