I think the current system works well enough. However, it would be straightforward to add a "size" number to items and containers where the size of a container means it can only carry items of that size or smaller. That would take care of 99% of the "issues" while not complicating things much at all from a programming perspective. EDIT: That's what I get for not reading the whole thread before posting. The post above mine quotes a similar idea.

Agreed. I just learned that you auto drink water from your inventory and was frustrated that I couldn't "manually" drink it. If they at least allowed you to manually drink it then you could manage your water supply by putting the bottles in another container.

Maybe give me the option to set things how I like and use those as defaults when I start a new game? EDIT: The idea is so that I don't have to retype names, set options like gender, occupation, hair, etc. every time I start a game. If I always want to be a firefighter named Bob Knob that has chest hair, no beard or hair on his head, let me without making go through setting that up every time.
