Rotten Foods as Plant Fertilizer

Instead of having old food laying around your yard and on the street like a pig, use it as farming fertilizer. If you use it as a fertilizer you will have a faster growing time, which would make it easier to aquire an abundance of crops. I think this would be a cool addition to the game or as a mod.

Great use for rotten food, the whole complicated compost system is a step too far IMO, just throw them on the crops. Shouldn't be anywhere near as effective as the proper fertilizer though.

Throwing it on the ground would be cool too, sure, but the concept of it is kinda simple, no? I though my idea had a little PZ-depth to it.

Have a contextual menu command to "build" a compost heap- the only requirement would be that you have food or paper in your inventory.

After a week or so, the food is converted to Fertilizer, probably for an amount equal to it's rotten food value or something.

This lowers the difficulty curve for farming a little but I think the immersion gained here would definitely offset that. Every farmer and amature grower I know has a compost heap

Exactly, it's not rocket science. Besides that, to this day I have found one bag of PKD (or whatever) fertilizer in my travels, and it'd be nice to have some way to use the function.
