I've been running into this problem and it can't seem to fix it, even after hours of scanning the internet for a solution. My friend and I bought a server with 4players to play PZ together. He can join and play, no dramas (playing on PC). Whenever I want to join it, I can't get past the character creation. When hitting the PLAY button I can hear the music but it goes straight into a black screen and stays there. I'm playing on mac, no mods, compatibility mode, turned off the steam overlays, playing windowed, I just can't figure out what's wrong. My mac firewall is turned off, could my router be the issue and I have to open more ports?
I've also edited the server file that people with different lua files won't get kicked.
