can't join friend's game and having to always use the Bat file to launch the game

for the past 4 hours I can't seem to join my friends and the server isn't public and when i can join them it seems to crash all of us also I seem to always have to wait for so long when trying to join or I have to restart my pc in order for me to join 

also when trying to run it through steam the game tries to open but then closes

As for the server, does it have enough RAM assigned? I recommend at least 4GB.
