How do you rotate the building option?

Sorry if the title was confusing, but I was starting to build my base, and I realized that when I build, I can't rotate the option so it fits where I'm trying to put it. If I want to put up a door, its gonna be sideways, if I wanna make a wall, its gonna be sideways. I know this seems like a noobish question, but does anyone know how you rotate the option?

The default key is "R" to rotate before placing the item.

You can also let the left mouse boutton pressed and mouve around the building, like The Sims for example
