Exactly, I assumed the same like you, until I found that I couldn't maintain my weight even if I eat high calorie food every day (but constanly running around). But can gain TONS of weight by eating only a few high calorie food over days while not moving. Yes, activity should affect energy consumption but problem is Energy is not conserved in the current build.
Could you try opening your tmp folder in your Mac and see if such a file is located there as well? If it is, can you delete it?
