There are indications of some deeper issues with the way the viewcone reconciles walls, doors and windows, hence why they made the unpopular decision to limit building cutaway. The devs have been semi-open about the problems.. enough to address the complaints and to confirm that they are aware of the issues but we can basically only wait and see what, if anything, becomes of it.
As it is, I can't say for certain if what you're noticing is related to changes they've made in attempts to mitigate some of the "xray vision" problems but it's a plausible hypothesis. We can only speculate.

Something worth noting about the Thompson/Grease Gun is that any museum would likely have their working parts (such as the firing pin) held in storage. Wouldn't that be a cool puzzle and reward? To find the gun first and then have to go back and find the appropriate parts to restore it in a heavily guarded room.
Small correction, I meant the VZ scorpion, not the modern CZ Scorpion. It wasn't used by any police forces, but there is a solid number of legal (and illegal) examples of it in the US, it's totally reasonable to think that some could be in kentucky, either seized by police as evidence or in some collector's stash.
I'm... mixed on implementing a wide assortment of weapons that fit the same role (for example having 4 different kinds of 9mm pistol). I like to simulate as much as the next guy, but there's a point where you're getting in the way of gameplay. Now you have to contend with finding the right magazines for all of these pistols that accomplish the same goal and in terms of gameplay, are the same. Finding an illegally modified glock in full auto could be cool too, though. They've always been known for how stupidly easy they are to convert.
I'm unsure how to continue from here, I'm having the same issue. In my case, I tried to clone and compile the official TileZed fork from github. I applied the aforementioned temp file fix manually in all of the source files listed in the commit you linked. The issue is that I'm on fedora 44, and there's no real way for me to install the correct Qt development libraries. I also tried spinning up a windows VM and running the included cmake setup, but it looks like TileZed uses a very legacy version of cmake too so that didn't work either.
Does anyone know if it would be possible to build a universal WorldEd + TileZed appimage bundled with all of the correct Qt stuff as well as this most recent fix? Then it would pretty much run exactly the same across everything, and reduce the chance for things like this to happen in the future. I would be happy to do it on my own even if necessary, and host it on github with the same license. I suppose I just wouldn't know where to start, I'm not the most expierenced or qualified for this.
