Can't submit a bug report as I'm using mods, but you may be interested to know I've been able to milk a non-pregnant cow, see screen.
Some context: I just moved my Angus bull into the same enclosure the previous day, as he was Agitated for along time and I had him in a separate area where he couldn't demolish my fences. However, his tooltip said he was not yet ready for mating - when I checked it said 11 hours. Then about 11 hours later, I was able to milk the cows - coincidence, or possible source of bug? His tooltip now has a blank after "Able to mate"
EDIT: my 2nd cow is also ready for milking and not pregnant, although I was expecting her to be soon as I have a bull of her breed - I don't have a Holstein bull though
Ah, that makes much more sense. So basically you can manually feed grass or hay to cows and sheep; animal feed to pigs; and grass, hay or carrots to rabbits. Maybe carrots are the only "veg" the original post I read was referring to... Thanks for looking into the code though

Milk bucket says "too big" when I right‑click, but double‑click works. I think it's fine to drink directly from a bucket, though it could be slower.
