ChrisKind
Hello. Love the game so much that it's devoured most of my free time. Unfortunately I logged off last night on our server and suddenly that character and only that character could not log back in. It get's to the click to start screen, I click, it plays the sound then the game freezes and stops responding. No problems with other characters logging in with the same install / steam account on the same computer just a different character. below is What I think the relevant moment is on the dedicated zomboid server with my info replaced with * LOG : Network , 1700017449560> 554,594,419> [14-11-23 21:04:09.560] > ConnectionManager: [receive-packet] "login-queue-done" connection: guid=* ip=* steam-id=* access= username="AlphaMeatShield" connection-type="Steam" LOG : Network , 1700017449560> 554,594,419> [14-11-23 21:04:09.560] > ConnectionManager: [send-packet] "checksum-packet-1" connection: null LOG : Network , 1700017449630> 554,594,489> [14-11-23 21:04:09.630] > ConnectionManager: [receive-packet] "checksum-packet-1" connection: null LOG : Network , 1700017449633> 554,594,492> [14-11-23 21:04:09.633] > ConnectionManager: [send-packet] "checksum-packet-2" connection: null LOG : Network , 1700017449727> 554,594,586> [14-11-23 21:04:09.727] > ConnectionManager: [receive-packet] "checksum-packet-2" connection: null any advice? I've sunk a lot of time into this character and base and it would be a huge bummer to lose them both. Thank you for any help you can give.
Beard
Try going to the C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid\Saves\Multiplayer folder and delete all the folders that have the server's IP in the name. Then try rejoining.
ChrisKind
Should have mentioned that I tried that with no success. I think I found that advice from you on another post.
Beard
In that case, it is very likely that the character or the area around it might be corrupted, which would prevent the loading. You can try lowering your game resolution as low as it goes. This would prompt the server to send less area info due to the lower resolution, and you might be able to load then. Alternatively, if you had a lot of items on the floor around the character, asking an admin to stash the items might allow loading in.
ChrisKind
Thanks for the advice but same result. I logged in as a different character/gave them admin powers. cleaned up the loose objects (there were a lot). I dropped the resolution way down, made items not 3d and tried logging in with no success. freeze after i clicked to play.
Beard
That is unfortunate, at this point I would likely suggest just resetting the character. You can either play on a different username, or the admin needs to delete the character off the "players.db" file in the server save location.
