Issues with Tutorial

So I've gotten as far as the tutorial. I finally got a gamepad to work as the keyboard wasn't doing it for me. But when I go to collect the mouse to eat, the game stops responding, the only thing that works is the button that spawns in another character and no ability to collect anything.. . How do I turn that off and get the controls to work correctly?? Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure you load into the tutorial with the gamepad and do not use the mouse / keyboard at any point. Since combining the usage with the gamepad might cause issues with the UI not recognizing if you are using a gamepad.
