Question about port forwarding

So, i got help on port forwarding and I just wanted to understand how this works.
image.png?width=1343&height=163
what is the defaultport for and the UDPPort? What's the point of putting 16290
image.png?width=523&height=670
image.png?width=543&height=568

and this is what I did for the firewall
I think 16261 - 16280 means I have 18 player slots? Not really sure

then I did this for my router

I am not sure why you would change the UDP port to 16290 specifically, we do not recommend doing that anywhere in our official guides such as:

And

https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Dedicated_server

You can see in the screenshot you posted what the default values for those ports are, therefore I recommend keeping the 16261 and 16262 default ports as they are set, and only port forward those two ports with the UDP protocol.

It kept giving my friend a port closed error

There are no port slots. You just need to open 16261 and 16262 on your firewall and router by default. All players go through those ports. I recommend creating one rule opening 16261 and a second rule opening 16262, since some routers can have issues with ranges in ports.

Okay thanks,
Do I need to add the steamUDP ports to my firewall too?

So instead of this I'll just put 16261 and then port forward 16262

For my firewall,

I put 16261 and then steamUDP

You should add both 16261 and 16262 to the firewall, since the ports need to be port forwarded through the router and allowed through the firewall, so they can then reach the server.

Okay in this video, I should also add steam UDP or no?
