Invisable textures and combat mode locking bug.

Hey so there is a bug im unsure if the devs know about it or not but it's been going on for 2 or more years maybe less than that maybe a year and a half. But anyways basically what happens is after some time of playing maybe 20mins or 30mins in i'll randomly get put into combat/aiming mode, I can aim around and walk but i can't get out of it, I can't run, sneak pick up or drop anything and in some cases i can't even attack while stuck in it. The only way i've been able to fix it is to close the game and open up again HOWEVER this causes another bug to happen where when i spawn into the world there will be blocks/textures/floors that are just pure black just randomly spread around the world and if you step in one you become invisible and so do zombies. that step inside them, and from THAT point the only way to fix the game is to validate your game files on steam. No other way, i've closed and reloaded the game several times and the glitch continues to appear unless I validate files. So I'll validate my file get back in game everything will be okay for awhile and then the combat/aiming bug happens and the cycle repeats itself.

I'm also going to note that this happens with no mods installed me and my friends have experienced it several times and it's gotten so bad to the point where the game feels unplayable for us. PLEASE fix this because this game used to be our favorite game we would literally play it all the time and now that this stupid glitch continues to ruin the game for us we barely play it anymore at all. please fix it D:

Can you replicate the issue again? Right after you do that, can you share your logs.zip file found in C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid?

I tried to send the compressed file of it but it was too large, I also tried to tag you so you would know I sent the files but It won't let me anymore. So here you are hopefully you still see this somehow.

There do not seem to be any specific errors in the log except some configuration errors. Does this happen specifically in singleplayer or does it only happen in multiplayer?

As for the configuration errors, I would recommend doing a full reinstall of the game to make sure that they are not the cause of the problem.

First, uninstall the game, then go to "Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid" and make sure there are no leftover files or folders there.

After that, go to “C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid” and delete everything there except the “Saves” folder.

Then just install the game again and see if that helps.

@Beard i'll try that sure, but no these files were taken after my single player playthrough without mods when i was getting the glitch to happen. It also happens in multiplayer on any server i join, with or without mods. If you haven't already seen the glitch itself online somewhere I can try to record it and upload it to youtube or something.

I would first recommend reinstalling. If that does not help, then recording the issue + sharing the files again after the issue happens would be useful. Just to see if there is anything specific that causes the problem, as we have not come across what you describe in our testing.

Hi so it did fix the issue that's why i didn't reply back. however it seemed like a temporary fix. I found that today steam was randomly validating project zomboids files today idk if it's because there was some kind of patch or something that came out and i didn't see it or something? but I booted up the game when it was done and started up my single player world with no mods again, and literally only took 2 minutes for the glitch to come back in force. it happened again. so im doing the fix you told me about uninstalling and deleting everything that isn't the "Saves" folder and im re-installing it now since that seemed to be a good fix until recently. if it happens again im going to record it and send you the files and the video here.

That is fairly unusual, I cannot see any errors in the game itself. Meaning it is possible that it may be related to your graphics cards having issues? Based on the logs, your intel card is just slightly out of date. Can you try updating it to see if that may help the issue?

Okay So I did This. (sorry for the late reply I just suddenly got really busy and couldn't test this out till now) But I did this today got on started playing and it was going good for about 30mins or so minutes but it started happening again, so it didn't fix it. plus the being stuck in attack mode part im pretty sure doesn't have to do with my graphic card or drivers lol. but no i made sure everything is up to date, got the latest drivers that came out today and everything but no it's still happening. this glitch only started happening to me and another friend of mine when the version 41 update came out.

Did it start happening on a specific version? You can use the Steam Betas tab in the game Properties to switch to older game version, this way you can check if there is a specific version that it happens or does not happen at, which might give us a clue as to what causes it based on the update it started happening at.
