My game started to crash after the update so i cannot launch the game anymore. It crashes instantly the game tries to open itself. I think i've tried every little bit of method to fix it but it didnt work. Here's what i've tried so far:

-Tried the alternate launch

-Uninstalled my mods

-Deleted my save files

-Checked file integrity on steam

-Reinstalled the whole game from scratch

*I also tried choosing legacy41.65 from betas on launch options in the steam menu, i was able to get into the main menu but the game crashed again when i tried to enter my SP save file. (I tried this first when i havent uninstalled the mods yet)

Before this update, yesterday, i was able to play the game perfectly fine. This update just broke everything for me.

I have an AMD system (RX570, R5 1600AF) and every driver is updated, im using windows 10.

Try going to your Steam Library > Right click Project Zomboid > Properties > Set Launch Options > Type -novoip > Start the game
If that doesn't help, try deleting everything in the Zomboid folder except the Saves folder.

What you said didnt fix the problem sadly and i was stuck with it for the past few days. But i was able to fix it by myself. I found an error code w.thumb.jpg.077d6d09ee573bbbe593310c758ca4e3.jpg  on alternate launch and it led me to this thread on steam from 2017https://steamcommunity.com/app/108600/discussions/0/142261352651734602/

In there, i was able to find the fix. It's apparently an issue about sound. When i typed -nosound in launch settings i was finally able to get into the game, to get into the game with sound i fixed it by doing this:

I had this exact problem, and I have Nahimic 2 and an MSI PC. I was able to start using "-nosound", but then there's no sound of course.

Once the game starts with no sound, I went to Options\Sound, my "Signal From Microphone" was in red, and said "Error! Check record device frequency".

I quit the game, then opened my Nahmic control panel, went to the "Microphone" tab, on the left I clicked on the microphone icon (under Internal Microphone), and it was set for "Stereo, 16 bits, 48kHz", I changed it to "Stereo, 16bits, 44.1kHz".

Then, I removed "-nosound", and it was able to start with sound!!! Going back to the Options\Sound menu, I have the exact same error message in red, but the audio works now (not sure about the microphone).

I dont have an msi pc so i did this through the windows settings. I dont know why this started happening after updating the game but this is a strange bug and im lucky to find and fix it by myself. Hopefully this helps someone else having the same issue and i hope this bug gets fixed soon.

If all of this still doesnt fix the issue for you, try disabling all the sound/microphone drivers your pc doesnt use from the sound control panel. That might also do the trick
