meat
I'm just wondering if it's worth trying to make a driveway using sandbags to dump sand up to my safe house.
Noncuro
Yes it 's worth it, but you have to build a wooden floor path first, to prevent the trees growing back on your road. Then you better recover your wooden road with gravel instead of sand, because sand is a finite ressource, but you can fil up your bags with gravel on the same tile over and over. meat
If I built a wood floor, why would I bother to cover it with gravel/sand? I found enough sand nearby to do the driveway, I think I'll just remove any vegetation as it pops up.
meat
I'm interested to know if driving on sand would handle better and prevent the car from losing durability compared to driving on dirt and grass.
Noncuro
No, it won't change a thing if it's just sand. Only wooden floor will prevent your car from getting damages. Sand and gravel will just change the sound effect when your character run on your homemade custom road.
meat
Thanks Noncuro, I only have one car at the moment and too busy trying to survive so I can't really experiment. It seems that pouring sand on the wood floor turns the ground to sand and the wood flooring is lost, I'm not sure that plants will not grow there now and probably the car durability will still go down if I drive on it. meat
I still have one reason other than the sound for preferring sand, it's highly visible at night time. So here I present my compromise, the wooden driveway with sand pavement...
meat
Now I have the problem that grass, bushes and tress keep growing through my wooden floors! It's such a chore, now when I get back to base I have to park on the street and spend some time clearing the drive way before I can drive in. This makes me sad. Noncuro
°~° maybe sand or gravel is the solution, I never had this issue with wood + gravel. I understand your sadness. I really love your pavement idea, by the way.
