Edit: this happening is connected to length of time its been melted.
For example, i carried some frozen ice cream earlier for a short period, (couple of hours in game time) then noticed it was melted. I ate it and it acted normally satisfying hunger. I think the issue is with melted icecream thats been left for a longer time period before being eaten.
