  1. Hi all! Is there a way to avoid being hit when opening doors with zombies inside? I usually put my character in guard before opening, but in some cases the zed still can hit me before I can attack, even if it wasn't "knocking". I initially thought that the swinging speed or the length of my weapon were a solution, but reading in the wiki I discovered that e.g. the spiked bat has the same statistics of the hammer... So I'm a bit confused.
  2. Hello ! I've gone through the wiki on Trapping in PZ and followed the instruction very carefully with my 1-point-in-trapping character. I've set up a total of five traps, a crate, two sticks, a lace and a wooden cage thingy, appart from each other by like 100 PZ meters... but until now... NOTHING. They're in a clearing in the forest, no zombies ever sighted around during the many times I went through my traps (peaceful foraging there <3). Traps never change position or go off in any way. I add recommended baits (worms in the stick traps, proper fruits/veggies in the other ones...) but the baits disapear quite quickly and I have to add new ones... but no animals caught in there ever. I've been trying for days and days replacing baits more than twice a day and sometimes at night too. What am I doing wrong D: do you guys manage to trap animals correctly and if so, how ? x_x Also can you cook the catches or use them in receipes ? Thank you for reading !!
  3. I've been playing a while now, and it might just be me, but I found that the only way to get zombies away from some place is to distract em, but that would be to you by screaming at them. Now, my idea was, that there would be firecrackers, or however you call them, its this bunch of small firework sticks bunched together and then lit and then they'd all go and explode but not in a big explosion but small sparks that would all go "click click click" and such. Back to the topic, I thought it would be cool if that was another way to distract zombies away from a place instead of screaming. Imagine youre low on food, and theres that store. One problem, a group of 20 - 50 zombies is standing all around it. I thought you could then go to someplace safe, light and quickly throw a firecracker to another place like 50 meters away from that store, then all the cracking would distract the zombies and make them move there while you can quickly sneak inside the building get the food and get out safely. Okay so here others ideas: Traps: Barbed Wire trap: Requires: Wood plank x4, Barbed wire x2. A small patch of barbed wire laid down on the ground. Zombies and npcs walking over it will slow down heavily and get scratches every second, perfect for slowing down hordes and gaining time and injuring to killing uncareful survivors poor enough to run over it. Group members will ignore this trap and find other ways to walk around it / even take no damage walking over it at all. Can be removed with gloves shall they ever be implemented. Spike hole trap: Requires: Shovel (duh), nails x20. Can only be placed on grass and dirt. A small hole covered with leaves, when someone runs into it (s)he will fall into a medium deep pit full of nails and most likely result dead. 1 time use only. Bear trap: Ideal for animals and humans alike, will severly injure a humans leg and kill an animal, can be used to hold off some zombies as theyll feast upon whatever poor thing ran into it. He...hehheeehehehehahahhahahaha..... Distraction: Bottle A bottle of whisky or just a normal bottle, can be thrown up to 25 meters, any zombie 10-20 meters near it will hear the glass shatter and shamble / jog / run to that position. More ideas to come! We had this in the old game so might as well now. Pour fourth all of your ideas about traps, home made bombs, distractions for zombies, etc. here so that we can keep track of all of them without having the suggestions forum overrun with them! -Rathlord
  4. I have an idea for a zombie alarm system (so you can tell if a zombie is near). It would be something like you craft wooden stakes, sort of like what you do with barbed wire only instead of using barbed wire you use some rope or twine and have something like a bell on the end so that when a zombie walks through it, you hear the bell ring. Just a quick idea i thought of, i think it would be a good addition to the game thanks
  5. So I've been playing Project Zomboid and noticed an item called "Bricktoys". Obviously, this is Project Zomboid's Legos. So I thought of Legos. Then, of course, I thought of the horrible pain that comes with stepping on one. Then the idea struck me. My idea is this: Bricktoys could be able to be placed on the ground, and if a player or NPC steps on them, they get the debuff "Pain". Of course, this trap wouldn't work on zombies, because they can't feel pain. I was thinking of suggesting to add the "Getting a little weepy" debuff to the Bricktoys trap effects too, but that's just a little too unrealistic. This trap wouldn't be "overpowered" or "too weak", either, that reason being is that the Bricktoys aren't very hard to find, and you'd be able to use the trap over and over again, about 7-10 times sounds reasonable. If you placed multiple around a door, an NPC or player might step on each one, raising the "Pain" debuff a little more and more each time. Just be careful not to step on them yourself, or YOU might be in some pain. Edit: Maybe they would add 1 or 2 points of damage to the legs or feet of a player or NPC, too. Little enough to not be fatal. That's my idea, please let me know what you think, and be sure to share some of YOUR suggestions and comments in this topic, too Edit: Nevermind, bad idea. I didn't think this through at all.
  6. I have been thinking that a traps mod would be cool. This would add more strategy at the game and add some more fun at the time to build our fort. An example of trap could be explosive tra I donĀ“t know how hard would be create this mod and if is possible do it. Desafortunately, i dont know absolety nothing about modding, that is why I write thi suggestion. Thanks
